The situation for Christians is especially desperate as most of them work in the tourism sector, which has been at a standstill since the conflict began.

The source told ACN that for Christians “wearing a cross can get you into trouble.
“Sometimes you have to hide your identity in your own homeland to avoid problems.
“The presence in the area of groups with increasingly radical elements makes our situation even more difficult.”

Nobody is justifying the destruction of a people. Everyone is discussing the treatment of Christians in the region.

Edited

Apart from those who only want to discuss the management of the thread.

Rubbish, If you were in any way interested in Christian suffering in Muslim countries you would have started your own thread on it instead of trying to turn this discussion away from what you don’t want people talking about.

My first post was about Christians in Israel (including in the link I posted) as well as other parts of the region. There was lots of interesting discussion in other posts - I learnt a lot. Maybe you'd like to contribute something on the subject?

Indeed.
I've learnt from others contributions about the treatment of Christians both in Israel and in the wider Middle East.

Thank you to people who contributed.

I too ended up learning a great deal on this thread from all the different contributions and then trying to find out more.

Smotrich noted that this settlement is one of five the government approved two months ago in the West Bank in response to alleged Palestinian Authority (PA) measures against Israel and unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state by Western countries.

That evil, trouble making, law breaking Kahanist again. The one pulling Netanyahu along by his nose.

Well at least Christians in Jerusalem are not subject to being captured and sold into slavery as they are in Sudan:

Yes it is a great blessing that the Palestinian Christians in Israel are not being sold into slavery like they are in Sudan. They should remember their place, below the thieving extremist Israeli nationalist, racist settlers aided by Smotrich and the IDF, and be grateful only their land has been stolen.

Are you suggesting that women in the uk can’t complain about I.e sexual harassment because at the end of the day in Afghanistan things would be worse? Yes I know my example is whataboutery. Same as yours. You’re normalising and minimising what this family has gone through in belem rather than condemning it.

Am I right in understanding from the last sentence that, after public backlash, Netanyahu suspended the plan meaning the taxes won’t be demanded after all?

n.b
They say their funds go to services that benefit the state, like schools, hospitals and homes for the elderly.

You’re understanding that right regarding suspending the plan after the backlash

That’s good. It all sounds a bit under threat though.

The Christian church in the Middle East exists in a state of tension between Islam and Judaism. It doesn’t want to be drawn into a conflict and would rather help broker a solution …

Christian Palestinians will always be Palestinians ( even if they are despised by both Hamas and extremist Israelis) .
