Standing up for Israel

So, they have got to MN now too.
I just managed to read the previous post before it got deleted for being inflammatory. Not to me it wasn't but then I don't support terrorists.
Many, many people do stand for Israel and not for Hamas (and by definition their supporters; you know who you are).

Would you like to try and explain your comment?

The previous poster said that Hamas laying down arms and releasing hostages (both of which I absolutely believe they should do) would result in Israel leaving Palestine.

That's unlikely.

The occupation of Palestinian Territories did not begin following 7/10.

There are no grounds to believe that Hamas's surrender would lead to an end to occupation, especially given the severe trauma experienced by both Israelis and Palestinians during this. An end to occupation will require a lot more than that, including a willingness to make difficult compromises to achieve a sustainable peace and co-existence where there is currently a lot of fear and pain. There are some extremely right-wing and anti-Palestinian voices in government in Israel, who will likely not rush to make any form of withdrawal.

Go on…
?????

Scirocco · 08/02/2024 21:28

@Fussandmisery I think there's a hope that you or someone else might give dates that can the be argued about, or say something to which offence can be taken.

The international recognition of Palestinian Territories having been occupied pre-dates 7/10. Therefore, the surrender of the terrorist group/political entity responsible and the release of hostages taken on 7/10 is unlikely to be the solution to occupation.

Helpful...always good to do your research.

I think recent posts on various threads are showing that Israels actions are becoming more and more indefensible.

While I see antagonistic crowds gathering in the UK weekly, holding banners calling 7/10 resistance, ripping down posters of kidnapped children, calling for global intifada.....
I stand with Israel and the Jewish community in the UK. Never again is now.

Like all peace loving people I feel horror at this situation, it could stop today with hostage release & hamas laying down their arms.

It's extremely short sighted to say "it could all stop tomorrow if..." The conflict did not begin on Oct 7th. The Israeli government have been oppressing the Palestinians since the inception of Israel.

quantumbutterfly · 08/02/2024 23:02

The bombing and fighting in Gaza could stop, the aid could restart, the rebuilding could begin
...or was that not the point of all the hand wringing and chest beating on these threads.... was it just looking for a better reason to label Israelis as monsters.

quantumbutterfly · 08/02/2024 23:03

To dehumanise the Jewish people again.

Polka83 · 08/02/2024 23:33

Great to see Israeli based civil society and humanitarian organisations calling for a ceasefire.

Obviously the end of the war will mean the end of civilian deaths as you say but it will not bring about the end of hostility between the two groups.

As I said before it would not change anything in the West Bank and the current government in Israel needs to go as well as Hamas.

Well said and it seems to be something that is overlooked so often. The Israeli government needs to go ~ they have all been very vocal about their beliefs and what they want to happen to Palestine.

quantumbutterfly · 09/02/2024 08:23

So the hand wringing horror about this war was just a ruse. Shame on you.

Do you support what Israel is doing in Gaza?

You know what else happened at Israel's inception? Come on, take a guess! If you need a clue, it involves a few different nations attacking another nation.

Nope. Try again.

quantumbutterfly · 09/02/2024 09:02

I don't need to try, your words speak for themselves.
