I just managed to read the previous post before it got deleted for being inflammatory. Not to me it wasn't but then I don't support terrorists.
Many, many people do stand for Israel and not for Hamas (and by definition their supporters; you know who you are).

I really don't know how to explain it for you to understand that this has nothing to do with the use of water cannon but more against whom they were used.

The water canons were used against a demonstration that got out of hand. It's completely irrelevant what they were demonstrating about. It could have been a group of people out there showing support for the government but they would still have used the water canons if the crowd got out of hand. That's the bit that you're pretending isn't true.

In any case, using water cannons doesn't preclude a government from having a democratically elected government. Lots of countries use them against protestors. But Israel is the only that apparently is not a democracy as a result.

Israel not being a democracy has nothing to do with the water cannons that were used, and everything to do with the fact that they are military occupiers of another nation, as outlined succinctly in this recent clip.
(And btw, Palestinian protestors there get teargas and rubber bullets - I think water is too precious a commodity in the region to waste on those who are perceived as subhuman).

Democracies do not have different rules for different groups of people. Democracies do not deliberately starve 2 million people, killing/wounding over a 100,000 people in 140 days (and that's just in Gaza alone). Say whatever you wish, but Israel's actions speak far louder than your words.

Israel is a democracy. Gaza is not a part of Israel. Anything happening in Gaza, no matter how awful and horrendous, doesn't change the fact that Israel is a democracy.

Thank you @Hagpie 🙏 don't know why I subject myself to these threads. I've been largely avoiding mumsnet in the last few months as I felt an undercurrent of racism in the more political threads but am heartened by comments and posters such as yourself.

Maybe stay away from a thread that says 'standing up for Israel' if it upsets you so much, unless you're going to add something constructive towards the 'peacemaking' you claim to crave and not inflammatory accusations.

Yes a lot of Jewish people and Palestinians are working for peace together.

How can anyone stand up for Israel when they kill so many innocent people? whole families wiped out as they shelter in areas the IDF has told them to move to in order to be safe.

The terror of 7/10 does not justify the deaths of so many people.
