Standing up for Israel

So, they have got to MN now too.
I just managed to read the previous post before it got deleted for being inflammatory. Not to me it wasn't but then I don't support terrorists.
Many, many people do stand for Israel and not for Hamas (and by definition their supporters; you know who you are).

Pardon? How?

TRT World is the mouthpiece of the Turkish dictator.

From the horse's mouth. Hostage deal won't stop Netanyahu's genocidal rampage in Gaza. It's almost as though it was never about the hostages.

You heard the words 'complete victory' but didn't hear about how this applies to hostage release?

You heard the words 'I talk to world leaders every day' but thought you and the mavens of Mumsnet understood the situation better?

I'm not sure I understand your point. Even if the hostages are released he's still going to destroy Rafah, where over 1million displaced people are.

Not sure what the significance of him talking to world leaders is when he doesn't listen to a word anyone says about stopping the slaughter of tens of thousands of civilians.

I don't think you want to understand, but that is of course you perogative.

Well no I just didnt understand your point but you can make whatever assumptions you like I guess.

@ConnieCounter I also read in the Guardian that the attack on Rafah will go ahead even if a hostage deal is agreed. Have you also seen the Cabinet's statement rejecting any imposition of a Palestinian state? I posted on another thread, but thought I would put here as well. The cabinet issued a statement, having voted unanimously on this declaration. It appears to state that Israel will reject any international input towards a 2SS.

Let us hope then that the international funding stops.

stormy4319trevor · 18/02/2024 12:50

@kirinm I'm not hearing any news like that. There should surely be questions about the Israeli government's plans for millions of Palestinians living in the OPT. Does he wish to annex the OPT and make them citizens of Israel? Does he wish to continue occupation indefinitely and have all these people existing in territory Israel controls, but without the full rights of citizens?

Parkingt111 · 18/02/2024 12:59

@stormy4319trevor yes that is right, Netanyahu has outright rejected it with one minister going as far as saying that they would rather forgo any normalisation and peace treaties with other countries if it will come with the condition of allowing the Palestinians to have a state

stormy4319trevor · 18/02/2024 13:04

@Parkingt111 It will be interesting to see if the US has any comment on this. I've a bad feeling they will ignore it and keep funding, while making vague allusions to a Palestinian state as a 'nice to have' in perpetuity. But the lack of any viable plan for millions of people is rather horrifying.

Parkingt111 · 18/02/2024 13:25

@stormy4319trevor I'm unsure whether the Biden administration is sincere on wanting the Palestinians having their own state or its just noise to secure votes from those who are upset on his handling of the conflict.
Maybe that's me being cynical, I don't know. Time will tell I suppose on how they proceed from here

quantumbutterfly · 18/02/2024 13:32

You know this kind of speculation is meaningless.
These kind of discussions round dinner tables up and down the country influence the next generation to pick a side rather than seeing Israel as a country full of people who want to live in safety without rocket fire and suicide bombs just as peaceful Gazans want live in safety and plan a future for their children.
There are organisations that work towards peaceful coexistence in that region, maybe get involved with them.

It's a discussion forum. People are free to discuss. I think the future of the people of Gaza is a fair thing to wonder and worry about, personally. I can't imagine why you'd want to shut down debate on that.

quantumbutterfly · 18/02/2024 14:32

As you say, it's a discussion forum.
I am opening the discussion to a constructive solution.
If I wanted to shut down the debate I might wonder why a discussion titled standing for Israel has veered into one about Palestine as it could be construed as a derailment.

stomachamelon · 18/02/2024 15:11

@quantumbutterfly I was wondering that.....

if you know of any that are UK based that people here can get involved with then i would be grateful if you could share
I know of standing together which I follow but I don't believe they have a base here * *

Except where you objected to the discussion. With respect, I don't think that a few mumsnetters joining these unnamed organisations is going to stop the genocide in Gaza. Netanyahu isn't keen on peaceful coexistence and he's calling all the shots now.

I think the thread is about standing with Israel while they annihilate Gaza so it's always going to include talk about Palestine.

quantumbutterfly · 18/02/2024 15:42

I can't take your 'with respect' seriously.

My point stands, a few mumsnetters working for peace (there are quite a lot of us) will at least counterbalance a few mumsnetters stirring up division.

I have asked for info and will try and get back to you. Would rather work from recommendation than Google.
Take care.

Parkingt111 · 18/02/2024 16:15

Thanks to both of you. Nisa Nashim looks interesting

Parkingt111 · 18/02/2024 16:16

Is Nashim the hebrew word for women?

EllaDisenchanted · 18/02/2024 16:24

@Parkingt111 yes. נשים in Hebrew. I assume Nisa is the Arabic?
