Raed Shteiwi, a spokesman for the Fatah movement in the northern occupied West Bank city, says that Israeli soldiers also detained 30 Palestinians since the beginning of this year.
“Israeli forces are isolating the city from surrounding Palestinian villages, and increasingly erecting military checkpoints to the entrances, as part of a policy of collective punishment,” he told Al Jazeera.
“Residents are suffering economically as well from the continuous closures, as occupation forces continue to close stores and impose a siege on the city. They even installed an iron gate at the entrance to Qalqilya, which witnesses daily raids and arrest campaigns.”
