So if what you say is true about their motivation, why do you think they didn't flatten Gaza in 2 weeks, because they could have done?

Probably because that would have spooked multiple countries nearby and started an outright war with Jordan, Egypt, Yemen, Qatar and Syria all piling onto Israel, which in itself would be disastrous. The current Israeli govt/IDF have been chipping away slowly during this attack on Gaza to see what they can get away with in the international community.

Whether a population is erased over 24 hours, a fortnight, 128 days or 75 years, it’s still genocide. That is what the Israeli Govt are doing to 2.2million people right now, 99% of which are innocent civilians.

@Livinginanotherworld @Allourkids bbc has just verified the rescue footage and where it was taken.

Allourkids · 12/02/2024 18:15

Is this regard the recovered hostages?
Any shareable links?

stomachameleon · 12/02/2024 18:32

@Allourkids I literally just watched it on the news.

Allourkids · 12/02/2024 18:44

I think I must be missing something - I’m not sure what you’re trying to tell me here about BBC verifying footage.

stomachameleon · 12/02/2024 18:52

@Allourkids they showed where and when they were rescued from. Considering this thread was awash with conspiracy theories earlier (17.36) you asked for sources and then it came up on the bbc news.

I apologise. I thought you were interested. Perhaps I got the wrong poster.

Allourkids · 12/02/2024 19:01

Ah I see. No need to apologise - thanks for the info. I wasn’t questioning where they were rescued from, but the sources that said otherwise.

@Livinginanotherworld 'Carpet-bombing' is a military term. It is not being used over Gaza as the area is too small.

Are you telling me that the people in Gaza are military strategists?

I would say what's happened in Gaza meets the definition of carpet bombing. It's been more intensively bombed than Hamburg or Dresden and 60% of the bombs dropped are "dumb bombs".

No one needs a degree in military strategy to read a definition and the news.

@Livinginanotherworld I've seen a few reports saying the same.

But, also (from Reuters):-

Lt Col Richard Hecht said the operation was based on “precise intelligence” and that the site, on the second floor of a building, had been watched for “some time”.

If israel have precise intelligence why herd 1000's of Palestinians to Rafah and deem it a safe zone before carrying out airstrikes?

Its cheaper and quicker to kill the civilians that way, fewer bombs needed when you concentrate people in a small area. You can also terrorise them more effectively before you kill them.

starfleet · 12/02/2024 20:26

Haaretz - which I believe is an israeli news source is stating that the 2 hostages were released on 2nd February? Something is not adding up.

Because they knew they couldn't do it in full view of the world. They just doing it bit by bit, instead.

starfleet · 12/02/2024 20:29

These are the 2 men that have been rescued.

Do you have a link to it? I’ve read mixed info about this and if haaretz is posting they might know something ..

starfleet · 12/02/2024 20:50

@EasterIssland it was on a news agency x page. The haaretz link won't open. Of course I am not naive enough to think things cannot be changed on the internet but the screen shot is one I cropped as to not show the other hostages - only the rescued old fellas.

Oh sorry just seen it does mention 2nd February.

@EasterIssland this is only one link. Who knows what the truth is. It has been sorely lacking over the past 4 months.

That's so strange because on top it says 129 days and it's only been 128 days since 7/10/23

anotherlevel · 12/02/2024 21:24

Here's the link to that article:

It says he was rescued today

Ah I hadn't thought of that, thanks.

stomachameleon · 12/02/2024 21:26

@anotherlevel time difference?

True tho it’s 1130 right now in Israel , isn’t it ?

there is a lot of misinformation about this on Twitter. I believe the article its not new , it was first about their families and has been reused to add that they’ve been rescued today.

anotherlevel · 12/02/2024 21:35

@EasterIssland then it should be 128 days still?

stomachameleon · 12/02/2024 21:53

I was just wondering.
I know certain news sources in Israel (and all countries) use AI to add more info from old articles. @EasterIssland I agree.

I have had the footage sent to me of the rescue that's being shown in Israel. Hopefully it will be released on British media soon.
