@StarbucksSmarterSister that's where it's monumentally cruel to just not say if he is dead or alive. To compound the misery. Maybe Blinken, the families and the Qataris will get somewhere although I doubt it. They met this weekend? It's all a bit vague at the moment.

I am holding fire on some of the other 'journalists' that are held so dear that I have similar info on for fear of combustion. Not to put to fine a point on it the stories are just the same. Misleading and propaganda from a few 'journalists' in Gaza.

It's deliberate cruelty just like keeping Emma Cunio, a 3 year old, separate from her family for 2 weeks; pretending that (I can't remember her name) the elderly lady was dead then 2 days later they released her; pretending people were alive when they've been dead all along.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 08/01/2024 01:03

Article (with distressing photos) of four of the young female hostages.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12936173/The-faces-girls-held-Hamas-families-make-desperate-plea-release-three-months-captured.html?ito=native_share_article-nativemenubutton

Chen Goldstein, a released hostage made this comment about the girls she saw (I'm not sure if she's referring to the four in the photographs).

"There were girls who spent 50 days and more alone,' she said. 'When they were sad, crying, their captors would stroke them and touch them. They described accounts of sexual abuse under gunpoint on a regular basis."

quantumbutterfly · 08/01/2024 06:04

Those girls are the same age as so many of hamas misguided supporters in Britain.
What kind of twisted, cruel heart can do this and revel in it?
Bring them home.

why do you and @Simplyblueoverture feel the need to refer to me and these other posters and attack us? I haven’t done anything to you, nor have I even commented on this thread until now. What you’re doing is goading and it’s unpleasant. If MN delete your posts, it’s because they’ve broken talk guidelines. It’s not because you are the victim of unfair treatment by myself, these other posters, or the moderators.

I’ve no intention of staying on this thread so I’ll leave you to it, but if you don’t want your posts deleted then perhaps you should both reflect on your own behavior towards others, and stick to the topic of discussion, rather than calling other people names.

Found you all.

I just saw this. Hamas have no intention of stopping and don't give the tiniest shit about civilian casualties.

What is the point of shouting Ceasefire Now in the face of that level of genocidal intractability?

I think of Hersh quite a lot. Having seen that video of him being kidnapped, to be honest I can't imagine that he survived, certainly not to this stage. He might have survived initially if he got proper medical treatment as soon as he got into Gaza but the risk of Infection while he's been held hostage must be very high.

The Red Cross don't appear to have seen any of the remaining hostages including Hersh who lost his arm above the elbow to check if they are ok or still alive.

“Hamas is holding 136 hostages.

Has anyone heard the Red Cross demand the hostages be freed?

Have they demanded access to treat the injured and ailing?

Have they condemned the holding of civilians as a war crime?

And the biggest question of all - WHY HASN’T @ICRC DONE ANY OF THIS?”

Edited

Nobody was calling anybody names. The other poster had the opinion that you were going under 3 different usernames which is not unusual on MN.

Perhaps a better approach would have simply been to disagree with the poster and I and talk to us personally?

However, I think you'll find that many of your posts have been deleted in other threads too.

So pot...

Why is it that there are plenty of threads about alleged Israeli acts of harm both historical and contemporary that are not relentlessly attacked and yet one thread about verifiable harms committed by a terrorist organisation is bombarded?

hogmanayhoolie · 08/01/2024 10:30

freethem · 07/01/2024 19:00

For all of those who are hostile towards anyone challenging posts or trying to have a discussion about something, I hope you remember your own words when you try to challenge anyone on the Israeli government thread and take your own advice.

Why would you challenge the documentation of terrorists atrocities

Why would you want to?

It's bizarre isn't it? Or maybe not.

An agenda ...

Indeed.

It's easy to shout ceasefire whilst ignoring that Hamas have no intention of stopping their campaign. They could of course release the hostages but they won't. They could fight the idf rather than hide behind women and children but they are cowards. They are still sending rockets into Israel.

It's a horrible situation

It is a horrible situation. I can’t bear to think of those poor hostages and I can’t bear the way the marches ignore their plight.
However I think there should be a ceasefire.

Limeandsodaontherocks · 08/01/2024 18:55

I understand the points made against a ceasefire but the priority ( for the Israeli government) should be getting the hostages home and securing their border. I don’t think the bombing is achieving what it aims to achieve. … So a change of strategy is needed.

quantumbutterfly · 08/01/2024 19:25

I'm not privy to the Israeli army's strategy.
I have seen some of the hideous hamas home movies and read the reports and heard the interviews, the idf are doing what they need to do.
Hamas and their jihadi mates must release the hostages and disarm and Gaza needs a new government that will use it's aid money to develop as a nation not line the pockets of evil men.

It's a good point but in my view, Hamas will not release hostages so Israel needs to press on and remove Hamas' military capabilities.

I’m not saying Hamas will simply let them go . I just think a change of strategy…
However- Im not a military tactician and I do understand that Israel will never feel safe as long as Hamas is in power …
