All things considered, this is the worst thing I’ve ever read (and I’ve studied a lot of history).

Seriously, if you are a survivor of SA it’s probably best you do not read this article.

None of the usual posters hysterically screeching about Israel’s ‘war crimes’ on this thread I see.

Didn't take long. Shameful behaviour

Askmeanything1 · 30/12/2023 11:56

I am also against the bombing of Palestine but I think this thread should be about the women who suffered. It is disrespectful to everyone suffering on both sides to bicker when tragedies like this are happening. We're all human. We can all take a moment to react with humanity.

Trulywonderful I will scream it from the roof tops, Israel is committing genocide. I will never be quiet as long as the bombs keep dropping.

Frankly you can do what you like but you are looking like a total fuckwit for doing it on this thread about this topic

Just so you are clear about that and how whenever readers see your username from now on they will remember you from this. Therefore you have seriously devalued and serious information or facts or opinion you post. Readers will now only see you as as having no empathy and very serious bias. So not listen to a word you post.

However knock yourself out with saying genocide and acting like a bit of an arse
on this thread honey

Barbadossunset · 30/12/2023 12:02

This. If OJ was as principled as he assures us then there wouldn't have been any problem with unequivocally condemning what happened on 7/10 without the full smorgasbord of "but", "need even more evidence" caveats. I mean, he went to an actual screening of what happened that day FFS.

Why isn’t OJ being cancelled?

Puppalicious · 30/12/2023 12:02

It is possible to acknowledge and feel sick about what happened to those poor women on 7 October and also to feel sickened by what is being done in Gaza, to feel it is unjustified (and entirely counterproductive in trying to stop terrorism given the hatred it will generate). There are many threads talking about the horrors in Gaza, why does this thread need to be derailed? Is it because people can only see in black and white and don’t want to acknowledge that the Israelis do face a very real threat from Gaza? I’ve always been very critical of Israel’s actions in Palestine but I guess I understand a little more now why - although the actions of the settlers or the extent of civilian death can never be justified. Feeling desperately sorry for those affected in the October 7 doesn’t stop you feeling desperately sorry for the Gazans too, you know?

VisitationRights · 30/12/2023 12:03

I don’t know how there can be peace when Hamas says they want to perpetuate their war crimes over and over again.

as a thought experiment, Israel lays down arms immediately and pulls every soldier back from Gaza; what do you think happens?

I don’t think a single hostage would be released in this scenario. I think bombs would continue to be directed at Israel from all sides of their borders. And I think Hamas would regroup, steal more aid money, and plan more terrorist attacks to kill more Jews.

I think people calling got a ceasefire are really just calling for Israel never to fight back and accept the slaughter of their people. I wonder how dead Israelis is enough.

Redslodges I don’t know any Palestinians. The Jewish people I have met have been lovely. I just can’t bare what is happening in Palestine. My children are half Arab, looking at the pictures coming in it could be my children under the rubble.

Looking at some of the pictures it could be my DC butchered and mutilated with civilians dancing around their bodies

Trulywonderful · 30/12/2023 12:04

Looking at the images and videos I have seen it could have been my Jewish daughter that was kidnapped, murdered, tortured or/and raped

See how this worked you are not the only one with any connection to what happened and judging by what you just wrote most of us have way more connection to what happened than yourself. So try to have some empathy for these women and girls plus stop derailing the thread

We basically just posted the same thing at the same time

A hug from myself to you. I don't think some people realised the trauma or the impact that this has caused on anyone other than Gazens/arabs or at least that is what it feels like sometimes

Solaris89 · 30/12/2023 12:10

Very sad to see this thread get de-railed by the pro-Hamas rabble and rape apologists. Very sad and disgusted.

But what I find most egregious is people commenting who don’t know the first thing about the history of this conflict (but claim to!), placing all the blame on one party - Israel - and ignoring and/or rationalising the violence of the other side. Ahistorical, mendacious nonsense. While Israelis are very tough negotiators, at least historically they have been pragmatic and interested in solutions. Palestinians and Arab leaders take no responsibility for the disaster they have brought on their own people, both by the ineptness of their leadership and the autocracy and corruption of their governments.

Women, children and men were brutally raped, tortured and some even mutilated (in the genital region) on Oct 7th. Hostages are still going through it! For them Oct 7th never ended. I’ll never understand why ALL women can’t just condone what Hamas did - where is your humanity FGS?

I read your link - the reporting of these awful unforgivable events will stick in my mind, as have the other reports I've read of the attacks on that day. They are inexcusable and beyond anything imaginable.

But where does this leave me? I am equally as upset by the images and descriptions of civilian suffering in Palestine. Lives destroyed and young children wiped out as their lives are barely beginning. I do not believe that every single Palestinian person is a Hamas supporter or is hiding a Hamas recruit.

I am appalled by the atrocities committed against Israelis on 7 October but also appalled by attacks on Palestinian civilians especially children.
Does that make me a Hamas supporter? I was disgusted to be accused of this recently because I could not agree that every Palestinian deserved to die.

I pray for peace which I also realise is an impossibility.

I think it leaves you as someone like the rest of us, just trying to digest everything that has happened and is happening

Not sure why you have mentioned being accused of being a Hamas support but that is just another BUT on this thread in a post it seems.

runningpram · 30/12/2023 12:18

I would say the newspaper investigation into this was pain staking and excellent. Imagine if they had got a detail wrong. It would have been used by some to discredit every other accurate detail. They do not deserve criticism for taking time to conduct such extensive reporting.

Because currently it is fashionable to be critical of everything Israel does and deny most of what Hamas have done and said. It doesn't matter what the evidence either way guilty or not guilty they don't want to here it anyway. They just want to hear vile idiots like OJ that say what they want to hear.

TwilightSkies · 30/12/2023 12:23

Fashionable??? Really?
Nothing to do with the FACT that the Israeli government and IDF are genocidal maniacs?? How many Palestinian people have been murdered so far? Last I heard the figure was around 30,000 although there’s so many under rubble that it’s impossible to get an accurate number.

Yes fashionable to be only about to think about one side of the conflict and be obsessed with what is happening to only one side

Case in point proven because you couldn't even read and understand my post properly

noblegiraffe · 30/12/2023 12:27

It is perfectly possible to be critical of Israel and appalled by what is going on in Gaza and to be disgusted and horrified by the incredibly upsetting reports of what Hamas did on October 7th and the continued plight of the hostages.

stomachameleon · 30/12/2023 12:27

@doubleshift I think that makes you normal tbh.

Trulywonderful · 30/12/2023 12:29

Anyway after all that derailing, sorry if I was part of that.

I simply ca not imagine what these journalists have to go through when they look through all the evidence of the pogrom. The video shown to most the media sounds bad enough. I couldn't do there job that's for sure

Ah so the creation of Israel in 1948 didn’t start this?
As the UN Secretary-General said, recent events haven’t happened in a vacuum.

Absolutely

Are you that dismissive of all massacres that happen on one day? 9/11? So what, it was one day why fixate on it. Kristallnacht? It was over in a night and the deathtoll of WW2 was much higher so stop talking about it.

stomachameleon · 30/12/2023 12:38

And another for the 'it all started in 1948' rewriters of history.

VisitationRights · 30/12/2023 12:39

No, the creation of Israel didn’t start this, people in the region have been trying to kill the Jews for the past 5000 years.
