Part 3.

I hope they come home soon and there's no need for a part 4.

@25milesfromhome it Has to be a priority.

quantumbutterfly · 23/02/2024 19:46

Oh Naama

Some people on other threads have said she is a soldier and fair game, she is an innocent victim like all the others.

I hope she is still alive, I hope she comes home soon. She is so young, my heart goes out to her mother, she is in her own personal hell.

stomachamelon · 23/02/2024 20:01

@quantumbutterfly I echo that.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/02/2024 20:11

Some people on other threads have said she is a soldier and fair game

They would. In fact not only was she not a combat soldier, she had only finished her basic training on the Wednesday and then gone straight to her first posting. The attack happened on Saturday.

That is not a soldier, not as far as I'm concerned.

I find the footage of her so upsetting.

Her mother is in so much pain, it’s very hard to read her words. I dread to think what Naama is going through.

I am no fan of the IDF but I don’t think it’s very respectful to post that on this board. There are plenty of other places for airing grievances about the IDF.

LilaDidIt · 23/02/2024 21:50

@PeasfullPerson No, the threads about grievances about the IDF are much more serious than the photos I shared here, and on a completely different scale.

stomachamelon · 23/02/2024 21:59

Thank you for that @PeasfullPerson.
It's not the right place to post it.
Especially in light of the thread topic.

LilaDidIt · 23/02/2024 22:07

They are supposedly in Gaza to bring home the hostages. Just pointing out what's happening on the ground. I do think it's relevant.

It's not appropriate on this thread which is about the hostages. There are numerous threads about the behaviour of the IDF so please post it on there. We don't want to derail the conversation.

I disagree.
It's inappropriate and disrespectful.

The fact that you would come on this thread (when so vehement on others) to goad with pictures of immature soldiers says a lot about you.

It's a waste of my breath explaining why you are so wrong. Just gracefully back off and leave the thread in peace.

This article says that Hamas have 'dropped' some of its demands after Netanyahu and governments hardening of position.

I have also read a few others where they agree progress has been made but speak less about concessions Hamas may or may not have made.

Hostage soldier Oz Daniel confirmed to have died on Oct 7th, his body is being held in Gaza

EllaDisenchanted · 25/02/2024 15:30

Apologies if already posted, I’m not caught up since Shabbat : hostage negotiations restarted. Looks more realistic than the previous proposal.

@EllaDisenchanted I have heard things have ramped up in the north?

I sincerely hope peace will come to communities soon and negotiations are fruitful.

Yes there’s been a lot of rocket activity up north, a lot of interceptions seen over kiryat shemona. Reportedly a barrage of 33 rockets yesterday at one point.
Still some rockets coming from Gaza as well, but not the barrages.

I wish that he has many birthdays to come and that they are spent with his family.

Please note I haven’t clicked on the link as I generally avoid doing that, so apologies if I’ve missed anything with what I say. I’m not really sure what to say anyway, I just wanted to recognise how much he and his family must be suffering, and how cruel and unfair it is.

EllaDisenchanted · 26/02/2024 22:48

@PeasfullPerson mostly what I wrote, with a picture of Muhammad. I just don't like to put things on without showing where I saw it, if possible. Times of Israel added that he is a father of 13, from the Bedouin village of Sawa, in the Negev.

Qatar: no breakthrough on Gaza ceasefire but Qatar is 'upbeat and optimistic' about mediation

In another briefing about ongoing talks attempting to broker peace in Gaza, Qatar’s foreign ministry spokseperson has said that there has been no breakthrough, but the country remains “upbeat and optimisitc” about the prospect for mediation.

They said Israel and Hamas had failed to reach agreement on any of the main issues.

Kaffeebitte · 27/02/2024 14:03

Heard on the BBC’s World at One earlier that the breakdown of proposed hostages to be released is

35 hostages :
15 civilian men aged over 50
13 wounded men
7 civilian females who should have been released in previous deal

plus recently extended to add
5 female IDF soldiers.
Presumably these are Naama, Noa, and the 3 girls who appeared in the Hamas vid a couple of months ago?

stomachamelon · 27/02/2024 15:13

@Kaffeebitte I have heard similar. Let's hope it's positive. I am hoping Hersch is amongst the injured.
