Do lots of people support Hamas?

I just read this story and it is absolutely horrific

I saw ten Hamas terrorists beat and gang-rape an Israeli woman

Is everyone on the pro-Palestine marches in London solely supporting the innocent civilians of Palestine (as I do too)? Or are there some people on these marches supporting the actions of Hamas as well?

I want to join the marches in support of innocent adults and kids in Gaza (and I would want to march for the same reasons on any pro Israel marches too), but I do not want to endorse Hamas in any shape or form. They are absolutely vile.

@Tryingmybestadhd maybe people are still there because they have nowhere else to go? No area of Gaza is safe right now. No comfort, no second home they can escape to, refugee camps full (and being bombed), safe routes bombed. They literally have nowhere to go! 75% of people are displaced and homeless. To suggest they have somewhere else "safe" to go is deluded.

I honestly think if you asked the vast majority if they condemn Hamas, they want hostages released and a ceasefire you would get an overwhelming yes.

I'm afraid it is true. You only have to look at what Israeli school textbooks teach children about Palestinians. If Israelis believe that Palestinians are equal why do they allow settlers to steal land and to terrorise people? They sit back and watch as Palestinian children are torn from their beds and night, tortured and detained without trial. They sit back and watch as Palestinians are denied the right to build homes, denied the right to replace schools that Israel have bulldozed, denied the right to walk down certain streets. You don't do that to people you consider equal. You know that and I know that.

I'm actually sick to death of people pretending they do. Not one person who insists that a lot of or most Israelis are against settlers has been able to tell me why in a democracy if people are against it is it just getting worse year on year. Its all talk. Actions or in this case inaction shows the real feeling.

If you claim Israel promotes hate against palestines what is your take on martyr payments , that literally are paid to people whose children are arrested fighting against IDF or killed due to Israel ( as a example the family of the pizzeria bombers a few years ago got paid quite a lot ) , do you not see them as promoting terrorism ? Have you been to Gaza at all ? Have you seen children as young as 2 lurked and enticed to actually trow stones and hold guns near ODF soldiers ?because it happens daily . Do you not call that promoting hate and terrorism ?

The fact the Hamas are missing from all the chants and posters around these demonstrations says to me that they are somehow being absolved from any blame

I dont know anyone who condones or supports Hamas. I think the conflation of support for Palestine and calls for ceasefire with support for hamas is a carefully constructed narrative to deflect attention from the genocide of Palestinians and destruction of their country as well as maltreatment in the WB. By carefully diverting attention to Hamas, it changes the focus of responsiblility and reprehensibility to the hated other and makes Israel into the innocent good guy defending itself all it can. It also then ensures that any pro Palestinian voices are silenced by affiliating them with a proscribed terrorist organisation.

I think you might be confused. My post was in reply to Lovesacake who denied that Israels see Palestinians as below them.

In order to get peace in NI the British government went into talks with paramilitaries. The S African government did the same with the ANC. They didn’t ever support terrorists.

You’d have to be very black and white in your thinking to think supporting Palestine was the same as supporting terrosists.

I don't believe that. I've read about lots of people going to Palestine and saying how friendly everyone is. From all the videos I've seen they seem like a beautiful, resilient people. I have so much respect for them.

At the smaller one I went to, I only saw people campaigning for a ceasefire.

Centering the march around a central "ceasefire" message is a more effective strategy than having multiple messages at a large gathering although you will of course find numerous placards with all different messages on.

@Katy231 I have been absolutely floored by the honour, bravery and gentleness of the Palestinian men in particular. Absolutely nothing like what the western media would have you believe. The faith they have is beautifully to see. I think we forget that they are suffering too.

That’s not what the poster is saying I personally cannot justify a ceasefire either , not until Hamas has lost power . Claiming people who don’t support a a ceasefire want to kill all bad lies is the same as saying all Palestinian supporters are Hamas . Both are very different things .
People must ask themselves why are civilians still in the north , why are babies in areas they have been to leave from day one. How do you expect Israel to take Hamas of power exactiy without gunfire and weapons ?

Civilians are still in the north because they cannot leave, it’s the elderly, the sick, the injured, their babies are still under the wreckage! Can you imagine leaving your dead child under the wreckage ? Think about that one ! How would you feel ?
With no transport and tanks everywhere, it’s also far too dangerous to leave. Where would they go, do you expect them to crawl on hands and knees for miles through the snipers and tanks. They bombed the ambulances trying to transport the sick. Any people that did manage to move south, they bombed them waving white flags, they were sent to Khan yunis, they bombed there as well, then they told them to go to Rafa, they bombed them there, there is nowhere safe for them to go, what do you expect them to do ?

And you don’t justify a ceasefire ? How can you support this level of brutality and war crimes and still be human ? Fucking hell, words fail me.

Really ? Why ? Palestine lacks women rights , gay rights , animal rights and is mostly a misogynistic society so why do you think men deserve this much respect ? I’m actually curious
