Conflict in the Middle East

Do lots of people support Hamas?

elprup · 03/12/2023 20:33

I just read this story and it is absolutely horrific

I saw ten Hamas terrorists beat and gang-rape an Israeli woman

https://mol.im/a/12820081

Is everyone on the pro-Palestine marches in London solely supporting the innocent civilians of Palestine (as I do too)? Or are there some people on these marches supporting the actions of Hamas as well?

I want to join the marches in support of innocent adults and kids in Gaza (and I would want to march for the same reasons on any pro Israel marches too), but I do not want to endorse Hamas in any shape or form. They are absolutely vile.

Israel are the ones who don't want a ceasefire though.

I didn't comment on Hamas or Israel attitude to a ceasefire. I just questioned what the marchers in the clip were calling for, as in what is the message there. Then said Luc was right about the only way peace could happen

No idea why you tag me with your comment

You said "Luc is right".

This is what Luc said: "Have they lost the plot? Hamas needs to accept the ceasefire, the war has to end. No more violence. A political solution has to be pursued."

Trulywonderful · 29/12/2023 15:47

The mixed message of what we see on marches and protests:

*Calling for ceasefire

*Calling for peace

  • Resistance action

*Islamic army action

*From the river to the sea

*Dismantle Israel

*Nasty Jew hate stuff

Yet people wonder why some of us question what the marchers are calling for and how these marches are supposed to help anything. I mean most the press, general public and government have already zoned out of the fact these protests are happening still. Even when they are in the media or spoken about now it is mostly this mixed messaging that is noticeable.

You said "Luc is right".

This is what Luc said: "Have they lost the plot? Hamas needs to accept the ceasefire, the war has to end. No more violence. A political solution has to be pursued."

He isn't saying Israel doesn't. He was commenting on what the marchers were asking going on about. They are calling for more resistance from Hamas in the clip

Surely he is right Hamas do need to accept a ceasefire and a political solution is needed rather than fighting

You are putting your own views on him and seeing his words from your own perspective and jumping to conclusions about what he means. Not everyone agrees with everything with everyone else but most people have some overlap in opinions too. Luc is actually a pretty peace loving guy that is trying to help raise money to get his translation friend's family out of Gaza. I have known him on social media for years and he is a cool guy.

No more violence. A political solution has to be pursued

This was the message from the clip, plus why are these people calling for more Hamas resistance. I think that is pretty clear, well it is to me anyway

Seriously I definitely see the world differently to a fair few people on mumsnet. Maybe it is a me problem 🤔

My point was just that Hamas wants a ceasefire so no need to call on them to accept one.

I didn't watch the video and dont know who this guy is so may have missed context but I ament putting my views on anyone. Just commenting that Hamas want ceasefire. Israel don't.

stomachamaleon · 29/12/2023 16:57

@Toothyfruity they want one under their own terms.
Are they going to stop firing rockets?
Give back the hostages?
Do they speak for Islamic jihad?
For the citizens that hold hostages?
Stop psychological warfare?
You think they can be trusted? They didn't stick to the last ceasefire?
How will things work after? No more using billions in aid to try and wipe out the country next to you?
Spend it on rebuilding?
Move from Qatar and take charge?

Indeed, they are covered in x and Tic tic but since the extremist element continues it switches off lots of people.

It's a mish mash of wants and many as you list them don't align.

I'd imagine yes to the first two, but obviously can't answer the rest.

Do you think what Israel is doing now is right, and that it should continue?

Trulywonderful · 29/12/2023 17:35

A protest is happening outside the world trade centre in America, 9/11

This has to be the worse idea anyone has ever come up with for one of these protests. If that doesn't make people think those present support Hamas nothing will. It literally doesn't matter now if those there do or don't support Hamas, they have cocked up beyond imagination. Again who do they think this helps?

basculin · 29/12/2023 18:19

I wonder if @ritenuto or whatever username they're going by now thinks the 9/11 hijackers were resistance fighters too?

I was wondering where was best to post this

That, to me, sums up to e mentality of these protestors

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Does nothing for their current cause

My rather rough ex navy stepfather would have said "These people have shit for brains"

I don't like the way he spoke but he would have had a point in this case

stomachamaleon · 29/12/2023 18:32

I just don't have the words to explain how disgusted I am about it and I hope something is done about it (that's the politest way I can think to write how I feel)

Thick as mince.

Tryingmybestadhd · 29/12/2023 20:05

The only ceasefire Israel can negotiate is one where Hamas surrenders and anyone even considering anything else is being very unfair . Protests in the U.K. have been linked to the Muslim brotherhood amongst other groups that are connected with terrorism and this should be a concern to anyone participating in those protests .
personally I don’t think a ceasefire will happen soon and I by should it happen ? Has any deals been reached , did any Hamas members surrender , has any more hostages been released ? Quite the opposite , stories of rape , torture and more hostage killings have been known .

Trulywonderful · 29/12/2023 20:34

Going to put this lady here . Jen Curley, special education instructor at the Ithaca School District.

Apparently the world is over hearing about the torture and murder during the pogrom, about the rape of men, women and girls as young as 13 years old.

Well according to this obvious Hamas fan girl anyway

Well it certainly wasn’t some dude in a cave…..that’s for sure, he denied it outright originally , then accepted responsibility for it for some glory. He never went on trial though, his body was disposed of without taking him into custody. There are a lot of inconsistencies over 9/11, the public will never know the truth.

but that’s a whole other thread !

some dude in a cave

The multimillionaire whose family had a net worth of billions was hardly merely some dude in a cave.

Do you watch a lot of tiktok by the way?
