Conflict in the Middle East

Do lots of people support Hamas?

I just read this story and it is absolutely horrific

I saw ten Hamas terrorists beat and gang-rape an Israeli woman

https://mol.im/a/12820081

Is everyone on the pro-Palestine marches in London solely supporting the innocent civilians of Palestine (as I do too)? Or are there some people on these marches supporting the actions of Hamas as well?

I want to join the marches in support of innocent adults and kids in Gaza (and I would want to march for the same reasons on any pro Israel marches too), but I do not want to endorse Hamas in any shape or form. They are absolutely vile.

Not sure what his concept of a Hamas is but I can guarantee it is nothing in reality like he would expect or want to live with

Do lots of people support Hamas?

Ah, a self-described communist, of course!

Don't actually know which thread to post this resistance message found at a bus stop on but this seems about right

A UN employee apparently

"We love Hamas..."

Yet apparently we are to believe all UN employees are neutral

Israel has killed 101 UN employees in Gaza in the last 83 days.

stomachamaleon · 28/12/2023 23:08

@Trulywonderful I am pleased Israel have decided to be a bit more picky about what UN officials they let in. Looking for clear bias.

I thought UN stuff gave you a good chuckle @Toothyfruity? This fit in with your view of what the UN is supposed to do? It doesn't fit in with mine. They are complicit.

I did think that a grown adult believing that the UN produce rockets and store them in UN labelled boxes ready for the IDF to find and photograph was preposterous and ridiculous yes, but some people around here will believe anything.

I don't find killing over a hundred UN staff funny though, and I find your rhetoric about them dangerous and disturbing. I'll hold my judgment on the post above because "a UN employee apparently" posted on mumsnet isn't compelling evidence.

Trulywonderful · 28/12/2023 23:52

"Established in 1949 following the first Arab-Israeli war, UNRWA provides public services including schools, healthcare and aid. Many of UNRWA's 5,000 staff working in Gaza are Palestinian refugees themselves"

As they have so many employees and I believe are part of the UN death count. Plus some have been reported by hostages as being involved in keeping them captive, it does make sense some will have also been killed because a few are definitely Hamas members/supporters it seems. So likely to be in a place targeted. However that is still a large number of UN deaths.

In general I see UN and journalist deaths as not any different from other deaths. A life is a life and a lot of the UN employees and Journalists are Gazen with their own families living in Gaza. I don't know if the numbers are available for who is Gazen born or a Palestinian refugee etc but that would solve a pondering of mine. Either way a life lost is a life lost their job or heritage is irrelevant in that seems.

Nothing means I have much respect for the UN or its workers either. They lost my respect years ago and the whole Iran/hijab / women's rights committee thing didn't exactly win my opinion back

Toothyfruity · 29/12/2023 00:00

You might not have respect for them or think murdering UN workers or journalists is a big deal but most decent people in the world would disagree with you.

I said I see their deaths as no different from the other deaths. A life is a life. Nobody is more important because of their job. I think most decent people will actually agree on that.

Seems should obviously say sense. Silly autocorrect plus as I am always saying I do need to start proof reading my posts

Toothyfruity · 29/12/2023 00:15

You said you don't have much respect for UN workers whilst we're discussing their murders.

Most people agree that killing press and aid workers in war is illegal and morally reprehensible. As is killing civilians. But a lot of posters here can justify all of the above when it's happening to Gazans.

Trulywonderful · 29/12/2023 00:18

I just edited to add what I said because apparently you didn't read it in the original post

I just don't value one life over another. It is a rule of thumb I think I will stick with thanks

CrappyBarbara · 29/12/2023 01:31

Because there’s no way multiple people could actually disagree with your stance? That kind of ignorant thinking is exactly why none of this is ever going to be fixed.

Another ceasefire march or resistance march judging by the banners??? No idea but Luc is right either way

Is that march in London calling for 'resistance' yet also saying about the innocents that have died. If Hamas continue to fire rockets and fight them more innocent people will die. They obviously don't care. This is the problem with the marches, encouraging 'resistance ' as some call it for terrorist action where more are killed in reality.

They really don't care for the civilians.

Israel are the ones who don't want a ceasefire though.

What’s your point

Israel are the ones who don't want a ceasefire though.

Would you want a ceasefire with a country whose aim is your complete annihilation?

Hamas broke the last one.

They refused a recent offer.

I'm not sure where you're getting your news, to be honest.

I'm presumably getting the same news as you since we both agree that Israel is the party who doesn't want to stop the slaughter.

moosmama123 · 29/12/2023 12:35

@PurpleChrayne exactly Hamas have no intention of either releasing hostages or sticking to any ceasefire.
As proved already.
Who starts a war by creating the worst program in recent history and thinks there won't be consequences? The moral immaturity of that is ridiculous and cannot be understated. To start a bloody war and then moan about bloody war. Nuts.

This.

Then some people on the marches carry banners calling for 'resistance' but others carry pro Palestine flags alongside. We are told a ceasefire is wanted so why call for resistance.

Just let the hostages go. Still holding people taken in the terrorist onslaught on Oct 7th doesn't make Hamas look like they want a ceasefire.

backtowinter · 29/12/2023 13:55

Israel seems to be under constant attack

Difference is the Israeli government spends on defence

Palestinian government spends on luxury homes and terrorist tunnels
