@DevonDiva I was meaning to address your points. I don't think the IDF behave perfectly, in fact far from it. The recent killing of the former policeman Yuval Castleman, who bravely stopped the bus stop terrorist attack, is a good example. He was shot by an IDF member with a settler background, and Netanhayu's dissmissal of the incident has caused widespread outrage. So I can well believe how heavy-handed, lethally so, members of the IDF are towards Palestinians.

I think the issue is that people want things to be black and white, good guys and bad guys. It can be true that Israel is currently lead by a right-wing bam, and that their army behaves with heavy-handedness, and also true that they suffered a pogrom with unimaginable levels of savagary and that Hamas do pose an existential threat to their existence.

Re the IDF "behaving perfectly", this is a war that is happening on social media more than any other. We don't normally get exposed to these blow-by-blow accounts.

I know a guy who is suffering PTSD after military service in another country controlled by Islamofascism. He shot a young boy (about 10 years old) because the child refused to stop advancing towards him and his unit, with his hands behind his back. Afterwards a grenade was found in the child's hands, but the sniper will be traumatised for life by this.

My post was in direct response to Depdawg's comment on the IDF detention of children, so not me who needs to keep up thanks.
