Conflict in the Middle East

Elon Musk - what’s his plan?

Thereissomelight · 27/11/2023 23:13

Having been accused of antisemitism, Elon, the free-speech champion, spent today in the company of Netanyahu watching videos of Hamas atrocities and hearing about Netanyahu’s vision for the Middle East.
I have (I thought) a lot of respect for Elon. Does he have a plan for world peace? Did the US ask him to intervene? (as clearly, despite being “anti-Semitic”, he has the ear of Netanyahu).
Or is he simply bowing to the consumer and trying to keep his numbers up on X? I hope not, but what are peoples’ views?

I'm looking forward to watching Musk try to sue the ADL for saying things he doesn't like, and which no one has any evidence of, while still pretending to be pro freedom of speech.

I wonder if Soros will sue Musk for saying Soros "hates humanity" and comparing him to Jewish cartoon villain?

Thereissomelight · 02/12/2023 19:29

There are many extreme views on X - it’s the major downside of free speech.

But the only group Musk seemed to have an ongoing issue with was the ADL.

Actually he's threatening to sue another anti-hate speech group as well, for using twitter data in their research (and to shut them up):

Anti-hate group says lawsuit from Elon Musk’s X ‘riddled with deficiencies’

Center for Countering Digital Hate says claim by X, formerly Twitter, is ‘riddled with legal deficiencies’

The words you quote are not Elon Musk’s words.

In several interviews, Musk has said his endorsement was related to the part of the poster’s comment that said that Jews were pushing the hatred against whites that they claimed was being pushed against them. Musk went on to clarify in subsequent posts that not all Jews were racist to whites (and others) but that he did find the ADL to be racist. He has a history with the ADL attempting to limit certain kinds of speech on X.

His interviews are all available to watch and listen to. You don’t need to make things up.

The words I quote are the ones that Musk said are "the actual truth".

And how is that not anti-Semitic?

Although given your previous comment about how you thought all Israelis think the same way, it's not surprising you think all Jewish people think the same too.

Thereissomelight · 02/12/2023 20:37

You’ve deliberately left out Musk’s subsequent posts.

OP posts:
Thereissomelight · 02/12/2023 20:49

Anyway, I’m glad he is trying to push back on attempts to shut down free speech platforms.

Especially now, when thousands of innocent children are being murdered and thousands more bereaved, injured and homeless, while international witnesses are being denied entry to Gaza and journalists within Gaza are being killed in high numbers.

You've deliberately not explained how saying "Jews were pushing the hatred against whites that they claimed was being pushed against them" is not any
antisemitic.

That's what he agreed with, even if he has since tried to backtrack. Because Musk does whatever he thinks will benefits him in the current moment. He doesn't give a fuck about Israelis and Gazans or anyone not named Elon Musk.

Just good to see that there are people who can hold out against being told what they can and can’t say. No matter by whom.

Yep, obscenely rich billionaires don’t have to answer to anyone or anything, and can sue anyone who disagrees with them into oblivion. Amazing, go Elon! Feudalism is the best!

Saschka · 02/12/2023 21:21

Very few people are rich enough to stand up to the relatively small group of very wealthy men who use their influence to decide who will lose jobs and businesses on their say so

Elon Musk is literally one of “a relatively small group of very wealthy men who use their influence to decide who will lose jobs and business on their say so”. How on earth are you viewing the richest man in the world as a plucky little underdog? He was born a multi-millionaire, he is now a multi-billionaire.

Thereissomelight · 03/12/2023 11:44

Why hate someone simply because they’re rich?

As I said, most people who need jobs and income can’t stand up to cancelling by a small number of the Uber-rich. Like him or not, Elon Musk IS rich enough to defend free speech for all and he is doing it.

Other platforms, eg Facebook, unfortunately not doing so well.

It’s important, as no journalists are allowed into Gaza and dozens of journalists reporting on the thousands of innocent children being killed have themselves been killed. Social media is the only way the Gazans can report on what happening in there.

Personally I dislike the extremism seen on social media from all sides. Dealing with it is complicated and a project to be addressed going forward. But any censorship should not be one-sided.

Poor persecuted billionaire. 🎻

Begsthequestion · 03/12/2023 17:38

Do you love him because he's rich, op?

No, that would be as ridiculous as what you just said about people hating him because he's rich.

He's a powerful, obnoxious white supremacist who posts far right memes and impregnates white women because he believes in anti-jewish conspiracy theories. That's a good enough reason to dislike him imo.

So do you agree with "the actual truth", that - in your words - Jews were pushing the hatred against whites?

What is the relevance of your question?

Do YOU think that X and other free speech platforms should be threatened with loss of revenue unless they only allow free speech from certain political viewpoints?

This thread is about Elon Musk. That is what Elon Musk agreed with.

So are you going to answer or...?

Thereissomelight · 06/12/2023 16:14

This question was asked earlier in the thread and I answered it. Asking it again won’t change the answer.

OP posts:
Thereissomelight · 06/12/2023 16:20

Constant pointless defection and derailing to avoid the deeper issues.

Which are that Israel is killing thousands and thousands of innocent children and there are no journalists allowed to enter and many journalists in Gaza have been targeted and killed.

So Gazans post footage on free speech platforms such as X. And lo and behold, Elon feels that there are attempts being made to make X unviable as a platform for free speech.

No need to be rude. I looked. You have never said whether you agree with that statement. It's a yes or no question.

Thereissomelight · 06/12/2023 17:05

No it’s not a yes or no answer. How would I know whether it’s true or not? IS it true??

Elon has publicly accused the ADL of trying to interfere with free speech on X. If THAT is true it’s quite a serious accusation, given that Israel has barred or murdered any journalists trying to report on the thousands of innocent children being murdered in Gaza. The Gazans, in the absence of journalists on the ground, depend upon being able to post their own footage to social media. So it’s pretty disgusting to think that there are people in the US who would set out to block this.

What do YOU think about it all? Is Elon correct? And if so, is this suppression of free speech a disgusting thing to do?

Where did I say I didn’t think he was anti semitic? The point of my OP was that I don’t know what he is or isn’t.

I have no idea how to answer your question which i feel is irrelevant to my OP. Do you mean all Jewish people or just some of them? How would I go about finding this out?

Above is the question already asked and responded to.

Please don’t derail the thread again by asking repeated pointless unanswerable questions.

That's not an answer, that's a refusal to answer. You are the one who said "In several interviews, Musk has said his endorsement was related to the part of the poster’s comment that said that Jews were pushing the hatred against whites that they claimed was being pushed against them.". That kind of implies you understand what it means. If you can't say that you don't think Jews are pushing hatred against whites then your answer is very much implied.

Sorry, I know you only wanted this thread to be about how super duper Elon Musk is and not the anti-Semitism your idol likes to endorse.
