And the reduced aid sent

People keep saying this, but everywhere I look it says they have received all the aid they'd agreed on. That they're just angry because enough of it isn't going up north. That's apparently not got anything to do with Israel though.

@Lobster7 it would depend if it was part of the agreement that was made between Hamas and Israel that civilians would not be allowed back to the north

Hamas issued a statement about civilians going North amongst other issues ie aid etc
so it seems it wasn’t part of the original deal.

They received 137 trucks. Not the 200 agreed.

Humdingerydoo

Avigail got to the neighbours and was in their saferoom and they were all kidnapped. So she will have people she knows. Her brother and sister survived but they aren't very old. I hope there are grandparents.

They must be so traumatised. I’m just praying that all of the children are released before the bombing starts again. I was also hoping that the severely injured Palestinian children would be transported across the border to receive proper medical attention as well but haven’t seen any mention of it. Keep thinking of that poor little girl who only had calpol as pain relief after having limbs amputated. 😢

I know posters on here keep saying that, but that's not what I've seen elsewhere

watchingtheworldwithwoe · 25/11/2023 23:09

@Readingallnight The last time they allowed aid through the bulk was Covid masks, burial shrouds and other similar items which whilst are needed clearly aren't the priority in a humanitarian crisis where they're struggling for food, water and medication!

How desperately sad. She didn't realise her husband had been killed.

Stomacharmeleon · 25/11/2023 23:13

@Humdingerydoo me neither.
The issues seems to be that all aid was delivered (Palestinian Red Cross confirmed that) but that getting it north has been problematic.

That's what I've been seeing as well. According to Israel, they have nothing to do with the distribution of aid. So not sure that's Israel's fault? (Although obviously it will still be considered so on MN 🤪)

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong though, I'm just repeating what I've seen and heard. I'm by no means a verified source!

I saw today that Hanna Katzir who was released yesterday didn't know that her husband had been killed and her son kidnapped. Presumably they're being kept in small separate groups and I would imagine the men are kept separately to the women and children.

If only Hamas would lay down their arms, release all hostages and stop all of this...

From what I’ve seen, the IDF haven’t been letting people go North so maybe they’ve been blocking the trucks as well. They’ve been shooting people who’ve been trying to get back to their homes.

No, they're not blocking trucks. That's pure speculation on your part - as far as I'm aware not even Hamas have suggested that's happening.

stormy4319trevor · 25/11/2023 23:36

I thought the aid issue was to do with opening another crossing, which I think was reported yesterday. The Guardian is reporting a tiny bit about the release of Palestinians, so looks like some made it out.

Yes hence why I said the word ‘maybe’. They’ve definitely been shooting civilians for attempting to go North so it’s not inconceivable.

justpoppin · 25/11/2023 23:45

I have only seen the trucks are being let over the crossing but ideally they could open others. Perhaps this is what they mean by logistical problems. The flow means more crossings would be helpful.
Aid has got though but I imagine it's hard to get it to the north given the situation.
Part of the truce was that people didn't start moving around but I can see why they would.
Maybe Hamas should be informed it's citizens the terms of the truce so they stayed safe. As they negotiated it.

Israel dropped fliers telling Palestinians not to head north. They know not to. However, Hamas have been telling them to all head home... Not sure concern for their peoples' safety is of any particular concern to Hamas.

stormy4319trevor · 25/11/2023 23:50

I think yesterday was a bit short - 137 instead of 200. Not sure if that was made up today. (23) At least 70 aid trucks have entered Gaza today, Rafah crossing official says (cnn.com)

So I haven't read your article as I'm off to bed, but I'm pretty sure, based on info from the UN, that it was 137 trucks PLUS 4 trucks of cooking gas PLUS 129000 litres of fuel. Not sure how many trucks that would have required. I think that's where the 137 number comes from though, even though it's inaccurate.

It's all included, but good night.

stormy4319trevor · 25/11/2023 23:58

According to Palestinian Red Crescent said it received 187 trucks today, according to CNN, so still not hitting 200. I think there needs to be an effort to increase it.

Back to the hostages.

Another lady released yesterday thought her father was dead and discovered that he's believed to be a hostage so confirmation that the men are being kept separately. So presumably they won't know either if their wives/children are alive or dead
