Israeli official did an interview today he said they have the capacity to search and send through 240 trucks of aid a day. He said the charities are not doing their bit or something like that. I couldn't work out if he means not getting the aid to the border or not being ready to receive it. Else maybe something else entirely. Sure more information about that will come out eventually these things normally do.

stomachameleon · 11/12/2023 07:42

@XRAYTHIS it's all they have isn't it. I would want a proper verified sign of life before I jumped over executions. If they were happy for the Red Cross to go in and do that I would go back to the table.

Trulywonderful · 11/12/2023 09:07

What on earth do you mean they are the poor misunderstood souls and everything else is properganda (Including their own words).

They probably just meant that the IDF will make the shoot the hostages with Jedi mind tricks or that they will take the hostages to Disneyland if a swap is not agreed.

How dare you post a link to this. It is off topic/no evidence that I am willing to believe Including Hamas own words/you are racist against Arabs/you are islamophobic/you like to kill children/ you love genocide (delete as appropriate depending on poster replying).

Israel has already given 3 convicted criminals for each 1 innocent hostages swapped - I have no idea why it could not have been one person for one person bur that is terrorists and Hamas for you. It is a horrible dilemma when hostages are taken. If you give in to terrorists and hostage takers you put countless lives at risk for the future so in my view Israel has done the right thing in going in to squash Hamas whilst also doing what it can to get back hostages and in continuing the fight. Even on aid it looks like Hamas is taking some of it for itself, not letting it all go to those in need. If we are sending in aid and it is being used by our enemies instead that is not not supposed to be the deal on aid - it shoudl be going to those most in need but that is Hamas for you - terrorists first, innocent people used as human shields, weapons in hospitals etc etc. They have kind of weaponised their people, 50% of whom in Gaza are under 18.

Xenia · Today 09:10

What exactly were the crimes of the criminals many, of whom were not even charged, Xenia? Please go over all the releases and list their alleged crimes?

( But please don’t tell me about the [then 14 yr old] school girl with the knife. I’ve read enough about the other side of the story to think not all was what it seemed.)

Parker231 · 11/12/2023 11:21

In April 2022, there were 4,450 Palestinian security prisoners in Israeli prisons – including 160 children, 32 women, and over 1000 "administrative detainees" (indefinitely incarcerated without charge).

ScrollingLeaves · 11/12/2023 11:48

Those included in the 3 for 1 were either minors or women.

Some of them only had a very short sentence left to go and would have been released soon anyway.

I believe Israel is saying the UN are not doing their job as efficiently by delivering aid to all parts of Gaza

The UN is saying that there isn't enough aid being allowed in and that despite what is allowed in, the intense fighting and bombardment means that it is extremely dangerous and difficult to navigate the huge task of being able to do their job
There has already been more than a 100 UN workers killed in Gaza so I think they have a fair point

The BBC said that from Sderot in Israel they could see the intense continuous bombing in Northern Gaza and at times even feel the pressure waves from the impact

I can't see how in such conditions its possible for them to deliver aid there

I'm not saying who is and who isn't to blame for it but just to highlight the severity of the situation on the ground in Gaza, which has a dire impact on those trying to carry out these dangerous yet life saving tasks and it may come to a point where the UN can no longer carry on doing so

Efacsen · 11/12/2023 14:07

.............and it may come to a point where the UN can no longer carry on doing so

Which the UNRWA have been flagging up for at least a week

Eden Zechariah 28 (kidnapped from nova)
Ziv Dado 36 (IDF)
2 soldiers died in the retrieval, including the son (Gal Meir) of the war cabinet minister, Gadi Eisenkot. Eisenkot’s nephew Maor (19) was killed the next day.

That report is harrowing to read and the suffering the hostages endured is
unimaginable. That description is of living hell.

What on earth can be happening to those who remain. They must be nearly starving by now too.

Also I just saw this report about tunnels. Does anyone know if the IDF is sure about tunnels not all linking up, and sure as to which parts hostages are in/not in?

@Parker231 and that's relevant to 'Israelis held hostage' why?

Parker231 · 13/12/2023 15:19

stomachameleon · 13/12/2023 15:08

@Parker231 and that's relevant to 'Israelis held hostage' why?

Very relevant due to the financial and political support provided from the US to Israel.

backtowinter · 13/12/2023 15:47

So not relevant then

Xenia · 13/12/2023 16:19

Absolutely terrible of Hamas (from a link above) “One of the girls was given ketamine for a few weeks,” she continued, referring to a powerful dissociative anesthetic known for giving the recipient a sense of detachment from their environment. “It’s unbelievable to do this to a child.”

This does not surprise me as if you look at what ISIS did in their so called Islamic State to yazidi girls, held as slaves and worse - this is what we have to fight against - people like ISIS and Hamas who think this is okay.

Kaffeebitte · 13/12/2023 17:55

stomachameleon · 13/12/2023 15:08

@Parker231 and that's relevant to 'Israelis held hostage' why?

It’s relevant because while the bombing is happening the hostages won’t be released. The bombing doesn’t lead to their release, it has the opposite effect. Hostage negotiation is a skilled and delicate art. Very separate to bombing the hell out of a place. If the Israeli Govt prioritised the hostage releases, they wouldn’t be bombing. They have other priorities much of which is driven by a political agenda - if they can be made to stop dropping massive bombs then there is some hope for the release of more hostages.

stomachameleon · 13/12/2023 18:17

@Kaffeebitte see i look at that the other way round. If Hamas prioritised their civilians they would signal to their people in Qatar that they are happy to release the hostages. They wouldn't mess about lying about the whereabouts of kfir and his family, act like they have mislaid them, then mention that they are dead (filming his dad and releasing it in the process). They would stop firing rockets whenever they feel like it from residential areas into kibbutz in Israel. They would lay down their arms and let them go.

They took the hostages in order to get a reaction. You want the reaction to stop release the hostages.

Not in the least bit surprised

EllaDisenchanted · 13/12/2023 18:55

Tal Haimi (41), hostage killed by Hamas. Family updated today, his body remains in Gaza.

stomachameleon · 13/12/2023 19:29
