Those 'peace' protestors in New York
were just trying to cancel Christmas.
It ain't happening.

Thereissomelight · 01/12/2023 08:34

“Chop it down” not “burn it down”

Peace protestors want to chop down a party-tree while today the bombing restarts in Gaza, killing dozens (just getting started)

Which is worse?

Why did the bombing resume? Or would you rather not talk about that?

A Christmas tree in New York City has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on in the Middle East. It is fully possible for one set of people to celebrate something while others are suffering. It happens literally all the time. Every single day.

Violent peace protestors... And no one seems to see the irony in it.

Why would the two even be thought if in the same sentence

Bizarre

Thereissomelight · 01/12/2023 08:56

Bombing of innocent children is never justified.

Israel’s bombing of innocent children is funded by the US.

So shouting to chop down a tree of celebration in the commercial capital of the US while innocent children are being bombed as they shout is a perfectly understandable thing for anti-war protestors to do.

So chopping down a Christmas tree in NYC because children are suffering in Gaza = perfectly understandable

Retaliating when someone has been once again firing rockets at you (and your children) = never justified because there are children suffering in Gaza

I am truly sorry the war is back on. It's not what I wanted. But Hamas once again started this and everyone knew it was coming - they were gathering civilians in Khan Younis yesterday to make sure they had lots of people there for when Israel fires back.

Thereissomelight · 01/12/2023 09:41

because children are suffering in Gaza

Because Israel is bombing and killing children in Gaza.
That’s more accurate.

I think you missed a bit there? "Because Hamas once again broke a ceasefire and are now firing rockets from Gaza using fuel that was brought in to help sustain the civilian population, and Israel is now fighting back"

😂😂😂 Of course it is, perfectly rational. Fuck the Christmas Tree, that’ll show ‘em!

Stomacharmeleon · 01/12/2023 10:20

Once again Hamas broke the ceasefire.

I don't mind demonstrations but with pro pals it has to demonise and dominate everything else. Why wouldn't people follow a tradition they have done for years? With lots of children in attendance.

Why would that be an appropriate time to fight with the police and brandish signs with swastikas on them?

I am sure the people of Gaza really appreciate that.

Indeed that mob behaviour doesn't help anything.

They've started early today.

Perfectly understandable? They are
Not anti-war protestors, they are thugs.
They want everybody to conform
and comply. Always aggressively demanding.
Christmas 🎄 is going ahead.

Actually there are videos of people shouting both those things

Either way odd argument to make

Plus videos of protesters settings police hats on fire and running around with them

Try doing a search on YouTube you will find it all there or go on twitter

Thereissomelight · 01/12/2023 13:00

You clearly don’t agree with the anti-war groups protesting against the bombing of thousands of innocent children.

Trulywonderful · 01/12/2023 13:00

lap90 · 01/12/2023 07:41

The same Boris Johnson who wrote the book, 'seventy two virgins' which was criticised for its anti-Semitic tropes?
With Boris's track record of racist comments against minority groups it's funny to see him applauded.

Unfortunately a lot of politicians just go where the attention or votes are

Boris is after column inches these days. It helps to pay the maintenance for whatever number of children he isn't publicly declaring these days

Trulywonderful · 01/12/2023 13:04

Thereissomelight · 01/12/2023 13:00

You clearly don’t agree with the anti-war groups protesting against the bombing of thousands of innocent children.

I clearly don't agree with anti social behaviour, racism and incitement to cause violence

I do believe in free speech and the right to protest very strongly

What these types of people are doing is not protesting though. Plus they will end up making governments ban protests if this type of behaviour continues for to long or gets worse.Which could threaten are human rights in general. That should worry everyone.

Thereissomelight · 01/12/2023 13:50

While there is inevitably some antisocial behaviour in such enormous crowds, the vast majority of the very large numbers worldwide are protesting non violently against the ongoing bombing and killing of thousands of innocent children by a highly racist Israeli government. These protests are opposing racism and murder.

Demanding that a decorated tree gets chopped down is really nothing compared to the racist killing of thousands of innocent children but is a successful way to demonstrate to the world that not every US citizen agrees with the behaviour of the US-backed Israeli government.

Israeli dissent is being severely suppressed with threats of job losses and worse. So it’s important that these worldwide anti-war protests continue, even if they shockingly demand the chopping down of a decorated tree.

Depdawg · 01/12/2023 13:54

I certainly don't agree with racists, using protests to display antisemitism by
carrying placards with the swastika on it.
Luckily, the NYPD are onto them.

Stomacharmeleon · 01/12/2023 13:57

@Thereissomelight in your opinion... which you are happy to regularly inflict upon everyone else much like those who want the tree chopped down.

noblegiraffe · 01/12/2023 13:58

Havering council have backed down and will be lighting the menorah after all, after a backlash.

Good.

I can't imagine how it must feel to be told 'we cannot display any symbol of your perfectly legitimate religious festival because it's potentially divisive'

https://www.itv.com/news/london/2023-12-01/council-u-turns-on-decision-not-to-display-hanukkah-candles-following-backlash

Stomacharmeleon · 01/12/2023 13:59

@Thereissomelight I also didn't see any antisocial behaviour last Sunday. Funny that. What low standards you have for those demonstrations and their 'inevitable' disorder.

Depdawg · 01/12/2023 14:05

So between the antisemitism teaching (Iranian) school closing down
and the reinstatement of the lighting of
Menorah, there might be a glimmer of hope.
Last time I used that phrase, I was pilloried.
I stand by it. The tide has to turn before
The Jewish community feel more people
Are in solidarity with them. More
Importantly, when it's governing bodies.

There are videos from all over the world proving you wrong about a fair sized percentage of these protesters

Calling for the death of Jews in Australia

Throwing fireworks at police in London

Driving in convoys through Jewish areas in Manchester shouting and beeping horns

Asking for documentation from people at a hotel and then at an airport in Russia. Then attacking Jews if they find any, people were hospitalised.

That is only a few examples of the behaviour of some protesters. Not mentioning crashing other events such as the Xmas tree one. Then being violence inciting fuckwits.

Yep large numbers of protesters may behave themselves but unfortunately enough don't for governments to do what France has done about these protests. Which is actually something I would rather not happen to any marches in general for whatever topic

You can try to avoid the truth of the situation but the evidence is there in volumes. If this behaviour continues protesters will damage the human rights of many people in the west. That is not mentioning the upset some of the protesters have caused the Jewish communities.

Hence why they burnt NYPD hats

Sure that was about Gaza in some people's eyes

Amazing the amount of apologists for fuckwit behaviour that goes on. It isn't like making excuses for this stuff helps anyone in Gaza. So what is the pigging point to some of the denial or dismissing of this behaviour

Pro-Palestinian protester shows off burning NYPD hat

A pro-Palestinian protester showed off a burning NYPD officer’s hat as a crowd moved down Madison Avenue during a demonstration near the Rockefeller Center o...
