Documenting Israeli army racism and torture

Desertrose2023 · 15/11/2023 04:25

this thread is to document the racist, criminal and dehumanizing behaviour by the most “moral army in the world” both during its most recent bombardment of Gaza and across decades of military occupation in the West Bank.

to start, here is a video of Israeli soldiers chanting they will turn Gazans into Kebabs.

I just went onto Instagram and the videos and images I've just seen are absolutely horrific. There's just no words. Absolutely heartbreaking and upsetting.

I watched Motaz's videos, it's heartbreaking seeing people living life as normal, when suddenly their electricity goes out and you can hear the bombs going off in the distance. I understand wanting to live as normally as possible, but my own anxiety would be through the roof worrying about whether my home would be next. It gives me mixed feelings, but overall I'm very grateful for being brought to the UK as a very, very young child.

The QR code thing doesn't seem to be working

Sky News teams in Gaza met Muhamed Rayis holding the leaflet with the QR code on it. He says he followed the instructions, moved to a safe area, and then got bombed.
"Look at this is the leaflet. How can you bomb civilians in their homes? You're telling people that Wadi Alsalga is safe, how come then you bomb there, at least warn us before you bomb us, they have bombed 3 or 4 houses, they've displaced people, why?"

"We do not know where to go, because they have told us the central area is safe, and we came here and now they started to bomb us here too, so we do not know where to go. This is their leaflet!" he shouted.

Parkingt111 · 02/12/2023 19:41

They asked the civilians from one area to move to Wadi Alsalga and then bombed displaced people there
The civilian casualties on the second day of the war are already extremely high

It’s just heartbreaking, those poor poor people. They don’t seem to be trying to minimalise civilian deaths in the slightest! I just wish there could have been a major movement to evacuate the children, like what happened with the Ukrainian children, so that they can be spared this horror.

And the Israeli army must not care anymore about the hostages that are left in Gaza if they are blanket bombing the parts of the strip they haven’t already destroyed; they won’t be in some sort of magical bubble that will protect them. I read in the news that many families of the remaining hostages are horrified the bombing has started up again.

Did anyone see that video clip a while back of that young toddler, maybe two or three years old, trembling like a leaf from head to foot as he was being examined? He wasn’t badly injured but he was covered in building dust and had this graze on his hand that he kept looking at and showing to the boy next to him. I don’t know why but I can’t forget him, a bloody graze is a big deal to a two year old! I keep thinking of where he is now in Gaza and hoping that he is safe and lives through this.

whatswrongwiththeworldddd · 02/12/2023 20:10

This is Motaz's latest story. 😢 They've risked so much to report and show the world and still it's not enough. Now it's about survival for him.
I've attached the translation too.

@whatswrongwiththeworldddd I don't think Netanyahu cares particularly for the palestinian civilians.

@Ixxy1980 I saw that video too, poor little boy looked in total shock. No idea how he is now or if he is alive (hopefully he is)

ChickHenLittle · 02/12/2023 20:12

I know he would never want to be called one, but to me, Motaz is a hero. His bravery is just beyond belief.
I heard someone in one of his videos screaming "God help us" (in Arabic) and just that one utterance conveyed so much terror and helplessness. I can't even imagine it.

Parkingt111 · 02/12/2023 20:16

@ChickHenLittle yes his feed is mostly just photos of life in the war
It's raw and unfiltered and I think that's why so many people connect to it
He's made it clear many many times that he has no affiliations with Hamas but its extremely risky
There's a reason why so many journalists have been killed

Ixxy1980 · 02/12/2023 20:19

Yes I’ve seen his latest stories and am hoping he’ll be OK! The IDF have his phone number as well, did anyone see the video of him talking to one of them calling from an unknown number the other night, it was chilling! Let’s hope that they are not purposely targeting journalists (although I do believe they are!) and he’ll get through this. He genuinely seems like such a gentle soul as well, even more so considering about 15 members of his family have been killed in the bombings.

71 journalists have been killed. Not many in the country. They def are targeting them and their families in an attempt for the world not to see what is happening

ChickHenLittle · 02/12/2023 21:30

It is an attempt to silence Gaza. Motaz himself has called for international protection, just for all of us to be aware he is there, he is simply a journalist and is not peddling any narrative - just showing life in Gaza as it is. Just raw footage of the reality people are facing there.

It's heartbreaking isn't it. They are just evil to commit such atrocities and have no feelings about what they're doing.

I know you don't believe in God, but in Islam it's believed that before a martyr is killed, an angel descends and takes their souls just before so that they don't feel a single bit of pain except that of a pinch. They are then taken to heaven to join the others. Believing that they are not dead but very much alive. It's that what keeps them strong and smiling in these devastating time.

A report from a programme called Inside Story, that Israel does not allow the return of dead Palestinian prisoners/hostages until the sentence has been completed and instead the bodies are kept refrigerated.

@whatswrongwiththeworldddd How lovely. It made me cry (again!) One of the things I've learned over the past couple of months is what a beautiful religion Islam is. Nothing like what the western media would have you believe. Watching the people of Palestine have such faith in such an horrific time has been humbling. I wish I had the faith they have. What a beautiful people they are.

Ah no I didn't mean to make you cry! I'm sorry.

Efacsen · 03/12/2023 09:47

@Roste it's both bizarre and cruel to their relatives

Think that both parties do this 'hostage-taking' of the deceased - clearly a measure of the mutual hatred but do other surrounding countries do this too eg Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt?

whatswrongwiththeworldddd · 03/12/2023 11:55

I've just seen Motaz's stories. He's leaving Gaza and said his good byes. So sad for him to be leaving his home like many other displaced Palestinians. We're losing one of our eyes in Gaza but it's more important that he is safe.

treeees · 03/12/2023 12:03

@whatswrongwiththeworldddd is he leaving all of Gaza, or just Gaza city?
