Shocked by the racist signs at marches

Maybe I’m just severely naive but I’m honestly just shocked at the levels of racism of some of the signs at these marches. It’s just caught me really, really off guard.

To be fair I have seen videos like that of students trashing a school or trying to get to a staff member and attack them a few times since covid

This is how ferral some kids have got and how much social media rubbish got into their heads

Unfortunately this time it is to attack a Jewish teacher

These kids are mostly not going to be Jew haters as such. They have just digested too much social media properganda and watched to many school riots on tictok

I don't think it helps when you've got some teachers, who are overtly antisemitic. I wonder what did happen to that nasty piece of work, who, frighteningly is a teacher but not afraid to carry racist placards.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 25/11/2023 21:13

OP fucked off, I see. Disagreeing with Israel doesn't make you racist. Many of their citizens would agree.

Oh the one with the racist coconut sign that said she didn't mean it like that, despite anyone that works in a school hearing coconut or choc ice being used. It is known peer on peer abuse

I haven't heard anything but would hope suspension pending an investigation at least

You just can't have someone like that teaching and definitely not in a multi cultural school. Hardly a good example to students if she uses such offensive things herself. My SLT wouldn't let her near our students.

Yes that one and the other odious mature woman, whose husband's face was blanked out by met police.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:35

Oh yes that is her. The police caught up with both in the end.

The older woman being a hard core Corbyn fan of cause. I mean most of us could have guessed that. I remembered her from the abusive tweets she used to put online about Jewish conspiracies etc once someone told me her name. She is a nasty conspiracy theorist. Most the hard core Corbyn fans are.

As the protest gathered at Marble Arch, a man was arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred after officers spotted him carrying a placard with swastikas on.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:37

Images were shared on social media showing literature being distributed which featured a swastika inside a Star of David. Officers later spotted the same literature at a stall in Whitehall and arrested four people on suspicion of distributing material likely to stir up racial hatred.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:38

The policing operation was supported by specialist ‘Voyager’ teams working in the operations room to monitor CCTV for the purpose of identifying suspects.

On two separate occasions, they were able to locate people seen earlier in the day wearing green headbands with white Arabic script. While these headbands were not necessarily identical to those worn by the proscribed terrorist organisation, Hamas, they were similar.
There were sufficient grounds for officers to suspect they were wearing signs and symbols that could indicate support for a proscribed organisation.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation after Voyager teams guided officers through the crowds to find and extract them.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:39

A static protest organised by Hizb-ut-Tahrir took place outside the Egyptian Embassy in South Street.

Two women were arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence after they were seen to be holding placards with messaging on likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:40

Shortly before 17:00hrs, a similar breakaway group began to march up Whitehall, setting off flares that have previously been used against officers.

Officers formed a cordon across Whitehall and the group were detained to be searched under Section 60 of the Public Order Act.

Conditions under Section 12 of the Public Order Act were also imposed preventing the march setting off again.
The group mainly dispersed without further incident, however six people were arrested for refusing directions to disperse and thereby breaching the dispersal order in place under Section 35 of the Public Order Act.

CurlewKate has it spot on I think. I have been on the past 2 marches and the vast majority of signs, chants etc were peaceful. There will have been antisemitic/vicious people there, because any large gathering of humans inevitably will have some of those. But the vast, overwhelming majority just want the Palestinians to not be punished any more.

Even if most were peaceful, I would not knowingly stand shoulder to shoulder with someone calling for the death of Jews.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:41

One man was arrested near Trafalgar Square for possession of an offensive weapon, specifically a knife.

Another man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker after an officer was struck in the chest. The officer wasn’t injured during the incident.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:44

Officers also dealt with an incident in a pub on Whitehall next to the cordon and a man was arrested on suspicion of common assault. It is not known yet if he was connected to the protest.

(May be unrelated or someone assaulting a protester even. Will have to wait and see about this one)

Cashncarry68 · 25/11/2023 21:44

Thanks for those updates @Trulywonderful. Great to see justice being done. They are not too clever some of these 'protestors'.

Trulywonderful · 25/11/2023 21:52

The protester group that tried to march Whitehall after the main march didn't look as big as previous weeks. There were way more police than protesters there this time. They got the protesters to sod off fairly easily this time but a few wouldn't leave after the dispersal order was made. So they arrested them

The Met said this about them

"A breakaway group began to march up Whitehall. They were setting off flares which on previous weekends have been used against officers."

Nor me. And I'd bloody report them.

Frankly, this is one of the things that worries me about all of this. It shows how incredibly easy it is to whip up feeling about an issue when many people don't even understand it.

I agree with you

People thought that never again wasn't an issue because people would see it coming and have time to stop it. However I think people are realising now that these things especially in the days of social media can escalate fast

That is why despite the flak a thread like this is getting, some saying it is only a small percentage that are antisemitic etc. It is very important for us to talk about this and highlight the danger of the situation. It doesn't take much for society to crumble and hate to spread. Then comes violent acts. Awareness is key and not letting even the smallest bit of hate pass without condemnation.

'Tomorrow Hizb ut Tahrir will be holding a demonstration at the Egyptian embassy in London.

At their previous demonstration jihad was called for.

Here's their leader saying of the Hamas attacks "they lie they say that this was terror, a lie, this was resistance!" '

https://twitter.com/hurryupharry/status/1728022547894002166

That hate preacher says 'its a war between Islam and the west'. He says that from his home in London! I wish people would stop romanticing these men full of hatred for the west.

noblegiraffe · 26/11/2023 11:14

I looked up Hitb up Tahrir, they want a worldwide Caliphate and strict sharia law for all.

Funnily enough, while they are not banned in the UK, they are banned in most Muslim countries.

This is what they're demanding when they visit the embassies (including Pakistan's, whose nuclear weapons they want to co-opt):1. Immediately renege on all peace treaties with the Zionist entity and expel their representatives.2. Halt all forms of intelligence collaboration, access to waterways and air space.3. End all forms of cooperation including commercial and cultural ties.4. Stop all oil supplies to the Zionist entity.5. Enforce a naval blockade in the Eastern Mediterranean and Gulf of Aqaba to prevent armaments reaching the genocidal Zionist army.6. Open the borders for the neighbouring Muslim armies to surround the Zionist entity.7. Collaborate with Pakistan to mobilise and deploy its tactical nuclear weapons to the region to deter the genocidal occupation from even thinking about utilising nuclear weapons.8. Decouple all exports to international markets from the dollar.9. The Muslim world must convene a quick summit and explore all options to remind America of the geo-political nightmare, such that she will have to choose between assisting the Zionist entity, safeguarding Europe, or protecting Asian Pacific countries.10. Stop recognition of international law, which the West trounces at will.

Stomacharmeleon · 26/11/2023 11:14

@XRAYTHIS I would suggest he needs to leave then. Hopefully the anti terrorism police will be leaning on him.

noblegiraffe · 26/11/2023 11:25

He is apparently a family GP working for the NHS in London, which is pretty horrifying for his patients.

He was privately educated in the UK so grew up here. Not clear where he was born.
