Shocked by the racist signs at marches

Maybe I’m just severely naive but I’m honestly just shocked at the levels of racism of some of the signs at these marches. It’s just caught me really, really off guard.

The photos from the protest outside McDonalds looks like the majority were school age teen boys to me. Am I just getting old or are these 14 to 16 year olds?

I didn't say anything of the kind. All I have said is that Hamas are using their people - including children - as human shields which is very unreasonable.

Yup - they are getting sucked in very young - or are they the sacrificial lambs for the "protestors?"

If you look online at various message boards and opinion sites I guarantee you will see several oceans more Islamophobia, anti Arab racism and denial of Palestinian existence than any amount of anti semitism you might find.

Can I just start talking about any odd topic now as well because apparently we are not allowed to talk about the protests today

Firstly it is not a competition

Secondly the rise in Islamophobia doesn't surprise me a lot of hateful idiots out there

Thirdly I think what you see depends a lot on where you are looking, what groups you are in on social media etc. I wouldn't want to say which is more numerous as both are on the rise

Well that isn't a surprise is it. Perhaps took less time than I thought but we knew it would get there. It has all over Europe, in Russia, in America

Same thing much the same words. There is a sum section on these protesters that don't see Israel, that don't see IDF, they only see Jews and that is why they are protesting. They just hate Jews and Gazens are a second thought.

It's starting to feel like something awful is going to happen in the UK.

@SomeCatFromJapan Sadly, I think you might be right and I don't see a way to prevent it when so many people don't see a problem with what's happening. Just a horrible, defenseless feeling.

Yes which is why I stay off the main conflict threads as it's full of these sorts of people. It's a waste of time and it's a shame that Mumsnet is a reactive moderation site as their reputation is getting trashed for inadvertently hosting anti-semitic tropes.

On another topic as we are not allowed to talk about the protests - just look at the current Israeli football squad - 3 x Muslims and a Muslim captain.
And apparently Israel is an apartheid state according to the conflict threads - when it is actually a beacon of inclusion and democracy in that region.
