Oh come on, this thread is about misinformation but do not start to discredit the thousands of civilian lives lost - figures which have been supported by the UN and WHO. It’s utterly disrespectful to the very real human beings who have been murdered, and their surviving families who are living with their grief in the least.

I would never dream of denying death tolls in other historical genocides or humanitarian crises that have been backed up by reputable international committees. Don’t be that person.

@Fairtobefairohhhhhc I saw the original video without the SpongeBob music the other day and it was her comparing the “nurse” to herself - pointing out the different features. She was basically saying that the only similarities between her and the “nurse” were the glasses.

I didn’t post it on here because I didn’t know what to make of it. I couldn’t for the life of me work out how either “side” would benefit from sending in a fake nurse, and then pointing her out as an actress, and then denying that she was the actress in question.

I don’t think the added SpongeBob music helps to prove or disprove anything though! If I remember correctly, she was speaking in English in the comparison video I saw the other day. I’ve just been looking for the one I saw on X but can’t seem to find it now. If I manage to, I’ll post here.

Found it. My mistake - she wasn’t speaking in English, it was subtitled.

I guess this a mystery that will likely remain unsolved. Palestinians don’t claim the “nurse”, Israel don’t claim the “actress”, all were left with are our own assumptions and conclusions.

Not sure they need morale boosting. Many reports I’ve seen show them laughing and joking. Most seem to be relishing their “work”.

The BBC is investigating disinformation on X accounts. Just shown an article on the BBC now. Apparently a lot of the information comes from a fairly small number of accounts on X and is then shared by everyone as accurate. Since X pays, then for accounts there is a financial reward. The more shares and views means more ad revenue so producing media that people want to see means money. Social media is often taken as 'real' by many and very easy to share misinformation on there and then others share and on it goes around and around.

The bigger news outlets appear to have departments attempting to work out what us true and what is created on social media.

“…a computer, which at first glance already provides a lot of incriminating evidence.” I mean the only incriminating evidence my untrained eye can see “at first glance” incriminates them. I’m curious to know what he found so “incriminating” about their own soldier as the desktop image that they then had to blur it out.

All of these games they are playing are exhausting. We will never truly know the extent of what is happening because all we are fed are tricks and lies. In 100 years time I’m sure some classified document will be released detailing maybe 20% of the facts, but that’s as close as we’ll ever get.

@Noelectricheating I can see why this would be the case, which is why I tend to have a look at other media sources before sharing things I have seen on social media.

The problem is, mainstream media is also heavily biased and influenced by so many political factors that they can’t always be trusted either. We need to use critical thinking and basic research skills to look at things from both angles to work out what the truth could roughly be.

I welcome reliable news sources but there is a lot of conflicting information.

I know both sides will provide their own versions of truth but I would rather see a link to a reliable source.

The funny thing about media, even credible media, is that whenever I have known someone personally involved in a reported event they always say the coverage of it is completely misleading.

Current events give us plenty to argue about on MN, but let's face it, none of us has a fucking clue what is really going on behind closed doors. Thankfully, our opinions here carry absolutely no weight whatsoever.

I agree but there is a lot written which I'm not sure needs to be in the public sphere, graphic descriptions.
