and in my opinion it's a direct result of people turning a blind eye to and excusing the horror of hamas and everything they stand for. It's allowed open season on anti Jewish hate. This has happened TODAY in France.

French woman stabbed on doorstep in anti-Semitic attack

The Jewish woman was stabbed twice at her home in Lyon before police found a swastika drawn on her front door

Sigh...

There hasn't been any carpet bombing.

White phosphorus isn't illegal.

Civilians aren't being deliberately bombed.

Please try and get annoyed about things that are actually happening, not just in your imagination.

Sigh! Makes you sound arrogant and rude.
are you denying the independent reports coming from Gaza regarding the bombing from Israel and the amount of people who have been killed. It’s a genocide. The deliberate bombing of schools and camps

Why have you gone out of your way to post in order to minimise another poster's experience of racism? Strange (well perhaps not as we can all take a guess why).

Joylaylasofia - it’s ethnicity not religion - there are many secular Jewish people

Shhhhivegotasecret · 05/11/2023 18:36

Why why why can people not show compassion to other women who are talking (with good reasons) as to why they don’t feel safe in the UK right now?

ColonelDax · 05/11/2023 18:38

2boys1princess · 05/11/2023 18:32

Yes, I fully understand the point you are making. Killing innocents deliberately is absolutely inhumane and the worst crime you can commit. Killing civilians by accident is different. However, you need to understand that a lot of people in the world do not believe the narrative that the civilians of Palestine are being killed accidentally anymore. We bought into that idea for years. Things are just different now. There’s more exposure and leaked videos this time that have changed our views and opinions.

Listen, I'm not a defender of Israel and all of its actions by any stretch, particularly around things like the West Bank settler issue, but i have to say, people like you are the reason why situations like the one in Gaza will never change.

A total and utter unwillingness to consider a situation through a lens other than their own.

And when a person who is an expert in the exact situation being discussed explains to you how you are mistaken and what you believe makes absolutely no sense either militarily or politically, then you just put your fingers in your ears and shout 'lalala' until they go away.

'Drip feeding genocide' for sneaky political purposes?! Have you visited the planet earth recently?!

Get a grip.

GreekDogRescue · 05/11/2023 18:39

The government and its agencies are encouraging thousands of healthy young men into our country via illegal immigration, many of whom dislike our freedoms and are violently anti semitic and misogynistic.

I'm not denying that Israel are targeting Hamas locations that the terrorists have placed into civilian infrastructure as an attempt to hide behind human shields.

The Law of Armed Conflict and Geneva Convention specifically state that when protected places are used for military purposes they lose their protected status.

Look it up if you don't believe me.

Your grievance around civilian casualties should be taken up with Hamas.

jolaysofia. Ummm because I live in the Jewish area of a large city and look very Jewish. Jewish isn’t a religion it’s an ethnicity. My ancestry.co.uk result was 100% European Jewish. That goes on genetic material not religion.

Our local police held a meeting last week to tell us what they are doing to try keep our community safe - increased police patrols in the area, giving advice about suspicious parcels, not letting anyone we don’t know into our block etc.

My DGD was bullied at school the other week. She’s 6. She was confused and in tears. The school dealt with it in a way that was appropriate to the age group and used it as a way of teaching tolerance and respect to her class. She’s the only Jewish kid in her school in an area that has no Jewish community. Her classmates know she’s Jewish though even though our family are non practicing. We stand out even when we aren’t religious. If a Jewish person tells you they’re frightened right now, I don’t think you get to tell them that’s strange.

@jolaylasofia have you ever sat in your place of worship and thought carefully about how you would escape if a gunman entered? Have you ever had to tell your 13 year old to take off his kippah on his 10 minute walk home alone and then when he was late have you run down the street looking for him and panicked when you heard a police siren? Do you have family who have told you they are thinking of taking their mezuzah off the door as it marks them out? Have you taken your children on the tube and briefed them beforehand in case there are angry protesters and it gets heated? Have you had to share pictures of antisemitic graffiti with TFL police on your journey home? Have you had to tell your child what to do when someone at school shouts "Free Palestine" at them?

Thought not.

@jolaylasofia

Thought I'd share a few more to get back to what this thread is actually about.

Have you read about your former school in the paper this week because someone drew a swastika and wrote 'Kill Jews' in the toilets? Has your child told you that all they see on TikTok now is Free Palestine and they never see posts supporting the hostages? Have you had a message that your children's holiday camp might be cancelled because they might not be able to get enough extra security? Have you had to explain to anyone that there isn't a hierarchy of racism?

Oh, just my week then...

2boys1princess · 05/11/2023 18:54

Even if you don’t go that back in history you will see that the UN stated: 2008 war: israel killed 1,509 Palestinians. In 2014: 2500 Palestinians massacred. 2023 so far we are at 9K.
If they ethnically cleansed the Palestinians Muslims in one go then they would have a hard time justifying it. The world sees Israeli jews as a race of people that have been through a lot of hardships in order to survive. Which is true.
However, times change, people change. When you are oppressed and when you are doing well often changes your perspective and outlook. If they (Israeli government) committed mass genocide of the Palestinians in one go, then the world may start comparing them to another group of people, who many years ago mercilessly tried eradicated a particular race of people. They wouldn’t want to risk that. Also, there is the real danger of triggering world war 3 by causing the other Arab nations to come together. It’s all too risky for them at this moment in time, so it’s easier to continue making it look like mass civilian casualties that they cannot control.
If there is a ceasefire this time then in a few years time it will just happen again. We will be back here on this board debating the rights and wrongs again.

How do you "look very Jewish" if you aren't religious (so I'm assuming you aren't wearing particular clothes or any outward 'markers' signifying you as a Jewish person)? I've seen a number of Jewish posters saying this now. Genuine question BTW.

I'm afraid that's nonsense. Israel has defeated their neighbours against appalling odds more than once. They are also a nuclear power. They aren't going anywhere.

They don't really care what we think about them. If they wanted to turn the Gaza strip into glass, they would do it.

The truth is they don't.

It's a simple statement but it's true, if the Palestinians put down their weapons, they would lose land and maybe receive some poor treatment (which I utterly condemn), but they would continue with their lives. If the Israelis put down their weapons, there would be a second Holocaust the like of which the world has never seen.

Neither side is 'good', but they certainly aren't morally equivalent on any level.

Noicant · 05/11/2023 19:12

Jewish people in the UK are scared, this thread should be about showing solidarity with British Jews in the face of racism.

I’m sorry to all of you who have had horrific experiences. I’m brown and have had my own share but this is beyond the racism I have personally experienced.

It is plain wrong and people should be able to say that without having to caveat it with “yeah but…”.

Schiller · 05/11/2023 19:19

I actually feel more solidarity with Jewish people suffering antisemitism now because of the unpleasant comments I had as a Muslim after 7/7 and the London Bridge bombings etc.

It is so unfair to be blamed for something we had nothing to do with. And the comments make you feel like a target and unwelcome in your community.

I am lucky in that in my diverse friend groups, we all support each other, Muslims, Jewish, Hindu, Christian etc. That helps.

I don't understand why Jewish people are being held responsible and attacked for the actions of the IDF while Palestinians are not (in the eyes of the protesters) being held responsible for the actions of Hamas.
Can someone explain that to me?

Doesn't make sense, does it

converseandjeans · 05/11/2023 19:26

@GreekDogRescue

The government and its agencies are encouraging thousands of healthy young men into our country via illegal immigration, many of whom dislike our freedoms and are violently anti semitic and misogynistic.

I think Rishi & Suella are trying to stop the influx - but every time they come up with a plan it's scuppered by liberal thinkers who feel it's racist/inhumane to not allow them in. So I don't know what the solution is.

I don't think liberal left wing people will accept or agree that some people coming into the UK don't have values which align with ours.

I am baffled by the LGBTQ community joining pro Palestine parades.

MissHavershamReturns · 05/11/2023 19:26

@feralunderclass if this is a genuine question, many Jewish people in the UK and elsewhere do look visibly Jewish. I have Jewish relatives in extended family and it is obvious they look Jewish from hair colour etc. I have seen childhood photos of one of these ladies and as a little girl she looked very like photos of Anne Frank.

AdrianaLaCerva · 05/11/2023 19:26

Its yet another example of the blatant anti-semitism that is so powerfully on display.

Just like there is a 'context' and need for ' understanding' to minimise every atrocity Hamas commits.
Yet there is apparently never a need for ' context' and 'understanding' of anything Israel does.

25milesfromhome · 05/11/2023 18:26

Can you drip feed a genocide though? I’m not sure that’s how it works.

The Palestinian population growth rate has gone up at roughly the same rate ad the Israeli one for many many years. In fact in recent years it has grown faster.

I have said it before and will say it again, if what Israeli have been doing for years is Genocide they are pigging terrible at it🤔

OuiOuiKitty · 05/11/2023 19:47

backtowinter · 05/11/2023 19:24

Doesn't make sense, does it

Some people are holding Palestinian people responsible. I've seen lots of posts on here doing just that, including holding children responsible. In an ideal world nobody would hold either Jews or Palestinians responsible but there are gobshites in every walk of life so that is never going to happen.

HoldOnMiGenna · 05/11/2023 19:53

How does a thread about people's experience of anti Semitism thousands of miles away from The Conflict between nation and a terrorist group end up being seriously deflected by people who would claim not to be anti Semitic or supporters of said terrorists, but are intent on deflecting attention away from the point of the thread?
The intention has to be anti Semitic since these same types would also holler that criticism of Israel is not criticism of Jews....but they are using criticism of Israel to inhibit proper discussion about the super surge in anti Semitism due to those who would claim to support Palestine.
Are these posters so underthinking as to not see that their circular thought processes prohibit them from seeing what they are, whilst revealing what they are?
"Splitting" and the need for one's opinion to come above another's experience and a complete lack of boundaries or propiety are signs of NPD.
Most threads started by Jewish posters with a focus on the negative experiences of Jewish people would confuse anybody who look at the last few pages to see that the premise has completely changed due to a few obssessed posters.
Why is that (rhetorical question and performative " chinny reckon")?
