and in my opinion it's a direct result of people turning a blind eye to and excusing the horror of hamas and everything they stand for. It's allowed open season on anti Jewish hate. This has happened TODAY in France.

French woman stabbed on doorstep in anti-Semitic attack

The Jewish woman was stabbed twice at her home in Lyon before police found a swastika drawn on her front door

@jolaylasofia 'nobody' is?
Well you know that's not true....
What about the women with the paraglider pictures on their clothes?
The people with signs with Hamas on them?
Hamas flags?
People arrested for inciting Racial hatred.

So not really nobody. Definitely somebody.

Trulywonderful · 05/11/2023 17:47

Yep op it is 🙄

You know this when a thread about antisemitism turns into a bloodbath of Nakba and various other comments

Nice to see all the usual posters for anything Jewish out in force..........😉

Firebug007 · 05/11/2023 17:32

I disagree, the vast majority actually have no idea what they're really marching for and should probably find out and I've seen plenty of people 'excusing' what happened on 7th Oct which is the same as condoning.

Here we go again, the "Pro Palestinian thickos" wandering around streets with no idea why 🙄. It's the height of insult to claim that these people (who are huge in number) have not seen the news, do not have the intellect to form an opinion, and are not capable of being concerned about human rights.

Stomacharmeleon · 05/11/2023 17:49

@jolaylasofia now your just bullying. People can't say they feel scared because it's not ok with you. People are told to shut and they are silly.
Why are you on a thread about antisemitism apart from trying to belittle. Nothing educated to say? You

Why have you gone out of your way to post in order to minimise another poster's experience of racism? Strange (well perhaps not as we can all take a guess why).

But most people on mumsnet seem to think that Israel is an apartheid, genocidal terrorist state too.
So if you can't march for Hamas to release the hostages by the same token you can't march for Israel to "Free Palestine" whatever the hell that even means.

the UN and major human rights organizations also think Israel is am apartheid state. Do you think they are all antisemitic too? Marching in the UK, the EU and the US can make a difference because it puts pressure on the government to stop supporting Israel. I want to say to the government that it’s not ok to flatten Gaza with British arms! Not in my name and all that. How do you feel about the Jewish people who are protesting or the protests in Israel?

This is a shocking attack, Jewish people here have nothing to do
with the conflict and deserve to feel safe.

Totally agree

ColonelDax · 05/11/2023 17:54

Rubbishagain · 05/11/2023 17:39

The vast majority know exactly what they are marching for. It’s the carpet bombing using illegal white phosphorus. The deliberate bombing of innocent families moving south after they were told to move south. The deliberate prevention of food, water and fuel. The innocent children held in Israeli prisons. The attacks and killings of innocent people in West Bank. The list goes on.

Sigh...

There hasn't been any carpet bombing.

White phosphorus isn't illegal.

Civilians aren't being deliberately bombed.

Please try and get annoyed about things that are actually happening, not just in your imagination.

Agree. It’s blatant

LondonMummer · 05/11/2023 17:59

@jolaylasofia have you ever sat in your place of worship and thought carefully about how you would escape if a gunman entered? Have you ever had to tell your 13 year old to take off his kippah on his 10 minute walk home alone and then when he was late have you run down the street looking for him and panicked when you heard a police siren? Do you have family who have told you they are thinking of taking their mezuzah off the door as it marks them out? Have you taken your children on the tube and briefed them beforehand in case there are angry protesters and it gets heated? Have you had to share pictures of antisemitic graffiti with TFL police on your journey home? Have you had to tell your child what to do when someone at school shouts "Free Palestine" at them?

Thought not.

You saying civilians aren’t deliberately being bombed by the terrorists known as IDF doesn’t make it true. The masses of people protesting won’t be convinced just because you say so. The thousands of Jews in Israel asking for a ceasefire also won’t believe you. You just continue convincing yourself and the others who just do not want to acknowledge that Israel are responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent babies. They have the right to defend themselves, but they are clearly no longer defending themselves. They are ethnically cleansing the children if Palestine so there is no future generation of Palestinians that make speak up for freedom.

The thing is we aren't even orthodox so actually we could 'pass' for not Jewish and probably do most of the time (except maybe walking back from synagogue) but the wilful ignorance about antisemitism is killing me right now and all these are genuine examples of my life in the last week alone.

Ok but they literally aren't, it's not just because I say so.

I've been in the military for 35 years and been involved in targeting for much of that.

If the IDF were deliberately targeting civilians the deaths would be in the hundreds of thousands in an area as densely packed as Gaza.

Please try to restrict your kneejerk, broadbrush comments and accusations of war crimes to areas where you actually have some knowledge or insight?!

Stomacharmeleon · 05/11/2023 18:12

Some posters here trying to take away the freedom to demonstrate.
Why is it so frowned upon if you just want to march to express your horror at the murdering of Palestinian children? Why are people demanding that in order to march for a ceasefire you have to condemn Hamas first? Those babies don’t even know what Palestine is, never mind Hamas.

Hamas terrorists doesn’t equal Palestinian children. Idf terrorists don’t equal innocent Jews.

Stop asking pro Palestinian protesters to condemn something that they are not responsible for. We didn’t create Hamas. But we are responsible for the massacre of children as tax payers. As residents of a government that are funding the death of Palestinian children. We can condemn that.

Israel murder murder in the name of self defence. Hamas do it as a way of revenge. They feel their land has been taken from them and for 75 years atrocities including murder of the Palestinians has been allowed to happen.
We have the right to choose who we stand in solidarity with. We are capable and educated enough to make our own informed decisions. Thank you.

Please don’t tell me whether I have the knowledge or not. You don’t know me. I may be speaking from first hand experience. You are allowed to draw your own conclusion on the conflict based upon your experience. I have my own knowledge and experience and will draw my own conclusions.
I agree that the IDF could within hours destroy the Palestinian people, but the fact they are not is not because they are avoiding civilian casualties. I have my own theory (shared by many who have my background and experience) on why they are drip feeding the genocide every few years and it’s not something I need to share with you. I have my opinion and you have yours.

Hamas do it as a way of revenge

@2boy1princess

Do you understand that there is a moral difference between killing civilians accidentally in war or as a mistake through a heavy handed security operation, as opposed to deliberately targeting women, children and the elderly for systematic rapes, tortures and brutal murders, then deliberately desecrating their bodies?

For the sake of your soul, please say you do...

25milesfromhome · 05/11/2023 18:26

Can you drip feed a genocide though? I’m not sure that’s how it works.

Yes, I fully understand the point you are making. Killing innocents deliberately is absolutely inhumane and the worst crime you can commit. Killing civilians by accident is different. However, you need to understand that a lot of people in the world do not believe the narrative that the civilians of Palestine are being killed accidentally anymore. We bought into that idea for years. Things are just different now. There’s more exposure and leaked videos this time that have changed our views and opinions.
