Placards from antisemitic marches in London

I had written this as a response to the other thread which was closed as it was overrun by antisemitic d**ks. As I'm sure this one will be too. They can't allow us to share the truth of what is being said and done in our own home towns and cities.

Look at these images. No, they are not in the minority or unusual. Here are just a few of many, many overtly antisemitic placards from Saturday's protest in London. (And a bonus one from 2021, which the lovely John McDonnell also spoke at.)

This is MY HOME. I am Jewish. My family fled pogroms in Eastern Europe and Nazis in Germany. Those family members who didn't flee were murdered for being Jews. And here we fucking are again. In London. And people defending it.

This is NOTHING TO DO WITH ISRAEL. These are Jew-haters, the faces of hate, the faces of anger and mockery, openly calling for Jews, for me, my family, my children, my parents, to be murdered, in my home city.

And people are defending it. How the fuck do you think we feel?

Yep that point about being able to change being Jewish - didn’t help in WW2 - didn’t matter if you were religious or not, Jewish bloodline was enough to get you killed so not wholly different from the Black Lives Matter movement at all

@Radyward he also posted the following, that's why.

Personally I want to know if his family were one of the 500k arabs that arrived on the land for economic reasons in the 30 years before 1948. Amazing how many Arabs claim to be indigenous to the Mandate yet there families turn out to be immigrate and only one generation was there before 1948. They are no different than the holocaust refugees and the middle eastern Jews that fled ethnic cleaning from their own countries. Me thinks the Hadid's need further investigation. Very few people lived on the Mandate before these massive groups of people arrived.

The point is we shouldn't be defined as being Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Hindu, Arabic, African, Indian, European, American etc we are just people. A country shouldn't be Jewish, Muslim or Christian.

If we moved away from this idea that we need to fight for a piece of land to be ours and all lived side by side regardless of race or religion rather an area being governed for the best of all the people living in its borders the world would be a happier place. Until then this will continue with both sides being in the wrong for different reason.

Also Black Lives Matter shouldn't be pulled into this it is a much more significant cause because you can't change your race but religion is a choice. Look at the younger generations moving away from religion in large numbers hopefully the world is changing and peace is on the horizon 🤞🏻

The problem is that is doesn't work like that for the Jews. People with 2 Jewish great grandparents were Jewish enough for Hitler. Remember Paul Newman, the actor, famous for his blue eyes? He would have been Jewish enough for Hitler because his father was.

St Edith Stein was a Carmelite nun. She was gassed in Auschwitz. She wasn't taken from her convent by the Nazis because she was Roman Catholic but because, guess what, she was born Jewish.

For the people who want to destroy them, changing religion will never be enough. It is not possible to escape. Two thousand years of history are proof of that.

It also looks like egypt will be forced to take 2.2 million palestinians. Like WTF.
Israel bombing gaza- lebanon- syria at the same time plus oops 2 accidental bombs on egypt. Fgs how can Biden endorse this. If this continues and israel destabilises the ME , WW3 is upon us all and Biden and israel unwavering supports worldwide will have caused it. For goodness sake STOP

Egypt would be insane to agree to that, regardless of international pressure. They will be very aware of what happened to Lebanon in the 70s and 80s following the relocation of the PLO to southern Lebanon following the Black September.

Relocating the Gazans to Egypt would just expand the frontiers of the conflict, it wouldn’t end it. It would potentially lead Egypt into to a direct war with Israel, which they have very carefully avoided since the 1979 Treaty of Washington.

Egypt are also not going to just hand over the Sinai peninsula (with its luxury beach resorts and tourist spots) to be controlled by Hamas. That would be crazy.

And if you change your name and religion and pretend not to be Jewish, there'll still be antisemites seeking to out you as Jewish.

This data hack of an ancestry website releasing the personal data of 1 million Ashkenazi Jews based on their DNA happened just before the Hamas terrorist attacks.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/23andme-user-data-targeting-ashkenazi-jews-leaked-online-rcna119324

What do you think people would want with that data?

23andMe user data targeting Ashkenazi Jews leaked online

A database that has been shared on dark web forums and viewed by NBC News has a list of 999,999 people who allegedly have used the service.

That is chilling.

Trulywonderful · 30/10/2023 22:42

The DNA hack is partially sickening

Shhhhivegotasecret · 30/10/2023 22:57

That dna leak scares the shit out of me - I know a number of people with 50% + Ashkenazi Jewish dna who have used that service

Mine is between 92-99 percent depending on the website (they all organise their data slightly differently) and my parents and many cousins etc are on it too.

It is part of the total terror that we are all feeling right now. Just a general feeling that we are not safe at all, anywhere, and that a huge wave of hate has been released.

I do wonder if this is where the ignorance stems from, I bet lots of people assume Jewish people are all religious and that they chose this themselves. Not that people should be targeted for their religion or that makes it acceptable, of course not, but I do think some see religion as a choice and therefore have less sympathy. This isn't the case for Jews anyway, it's genetically who they are- not all are religious at all!

Obviously not saying that people who are discriminated against due to their skin colour etc (ie hereditary beyond their control) are treated well by society at large, we have a long way to go; but more people than ever now are rightly seeing that it's unacceptable and are more mindful to calling out racism- I fear this will never extend to Jews. People who are treated a certain way for things out of their control also. It's also interesting that again we have come a long way (although sadly some still are narrow minded) in recognising that not all of one group act a certain way- ie Muslims, not all are terrorists of course they aren't. So why some seem keen to assume that all Jews are supportive of Israels current actions is weird. Just as Muslims don't deserve to be punished for the actions of a few, same is the case here. Yet the downplaying of the antisemitism so clearly on display in plain sight is chilling and will lead to bad things unless we all play a part in calling it out.

To reiterate, to condemn the targeting of Jews and the sweeping antisemitism isn't to be supportive of Israel by default.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/10/2023 18:56

Comparing Israel to the Nazis is clearly offensive, but it isn't anti semitic.

The star probably represents Israel (it's on the flag) rather than all Jews.

However the Christ killer one is undeniably anti semitic.

The nazis only wanted to kill Jews, not Israelis. The start of David is the symbol of the Jewish faith. All of them are horribly anti Jew and offensive.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 31/10/2023 11:02

I'm not sure what is more worrying, the fact that those placards were there or the fact that so many are completely ignorant of them being antisemitic.

IClaudine · 31/10/2023 11:19

I don't understand how people cannot see what is in front of their noses. Those placards are a disgrace.

I am pretty left wing. I hate what I am seeing from some left wingers and I have fallen out with people IRL over this. It is very disturbing.

IClaudine · 31/10/2023 11:24

For example, Michael Sheen posted this, which is in line with what I feel. He got attacked.

So now pointing out anti-Semetic signs is as bad as waving anti-Semetic signs.

IClaudine · 31/10/2023 11:46

Well it is wishy washy isn't it? Sure they are good first steps but what then? Israel continues to enforce collective punishments, commit apartheid and force people out of their homes? Israel themselves have said that they plan to steal more land after they are done. That isn't a solution to anything. There needs to be a long term plan there which involves respect from all sides or this cycle will continue. I'm sure he is well meaning with his post but objectively it is shortsighted and not a long term solution to anything.

im sorry if that was abrupt but privileged western people need to stop trying to silence people in the midst of genocide,

very many people on here are showing extreme racism and Islamophobia very casually, and isn’t being called out

Tell us you're antisemitic without saying you're antisemitic ...

Notbeinfunnehbut · 31/10/2023 11:53

Could you imagine having family in Palestine and then being told an anti genocide March is illegal and call to Jihad or something? Where’s the sympathy for those people?

A lot of those signs are mentioning Netanyahu which is fine because he is a war criminal, it’s fine to condemn him,

Right.
The girl on the tube in London who doesn’t dare wear her silver Star of David necklace visibly, it’s not because people might think she’s Israeli. It’s because they will know she is Jewish.
If there was an ounce of truth in these claims that it’s clearly Israel not Jews as a group that are meant in these images, this would not be the case.

No I’m not and it’s insulting to all the very brave Jewish people who attended these marches ,

more upset about placards than people being murdered, 8000 people at what point will people care more about the death of non white people ?

Can you imagine being Jewish and seeing people waving signs about how Jews killed Jesus and have blood on their hands?
