Placards from antisemitic marches in London

I had written this as a response to the other thread which was closed as it was overrun by antisemitic d**ks. As I'm sure this one will be too. They can't allow us to share the truth of what is being said and done in our own home towns and cities.

Look at these images. No, they are not in the minority or unusual. Here are just a few of many, many overtly antisemitic placards from Saturday's protest in London. (And a bonus one from 2021, which the lovely John McDonnell also spoke at.)

This is MY HOME. I am Jewish. My family fled pogroms in Eastern Europe and Nazis in Germany. Those family members who didn't flee were murdered for being Jews. And here we fucking are again. In London. And people defending it.

This is NOTHING TO DO WITH ISRAEL. These are Jew-haters, the faces of hate, the faces of anger and mockery, openly calling for Jews, for me, my family, my children, my parents, to be murdered, in my home city.

And people are defending it. How the fuck do you think we feel?

It's quite exclusionary to declare a country home for only a certain religion or ethnicity?

There are non-Jewish Israelis though, and Jewish people themselves have more than one ethnic background.

Many other middle eastern countries run along Sharia lines.

Stomacharmeleon · 30/10/2023 20:38

@bellac11 personally I think it's because they are still holding her peace loving husband (who incidentally ran trips from Gaza to Israeli hospitals for better treatment)

I didnt know that, well thats exactly what I mean, as if she should or could forgive,,,,, she is just trying to placate someone who could murder her/her husband.

I don't think anyone needs a homeland because of their religion rather where you are born is your homeland. So say you are ethnically Saudi and a practicing Muslim but born in England, you are English that is your homeland. We shouldn't be attached to a peace of land to the point we are killing each other. I could move abroad tomorrow and wouldn't see the need to call England home as it would no longer be home

In an ideal world I would agree. In fact , a month ago I probably would have said the same. But the past few weeks have convinced me that Jewish people need a country where they are the majority in order to be safe. I thought they would be safe in the UK - but now I see that they will always be dependent on the majority standing up for their safety. And clearly, that's not happening now, and it's likely to get worse, not better. Jews are a tiny minority and historically non violent. They will never be prioritised in any country other than Israel.

Did you know that England has an official state religion?

queenofarles · 30/10/2023 20:50

both sides are doing this, there is so much anger coming from both sides and it will keep getting uglier I’m afraid , both were victims of hate crimes in the US, recently , and today a very sickening video is circulating of an Israeli actress physically attacking a 15 year old boy during the protest in New York, and then there are the videos coming from the Airport of Dagestan , these are all accumulation of what’s happening in Gaza/Isreal.

and I believe the politicians here and in the US are feeding this anger too , Suella Braverman remarks today branding a march attended by hundreds of thousands as "hate marches " , will heighten anger on both sides, so reckless of her to say that.

sleepyscientist · 30/10/2023 20:53

SomeCatFromJapan · 30/10/2023 20:43

@sleepyscientist is there anything maybe different in the history of Jewish people, going back many hundreds thousands of years, and culminating in events in the 1930s/1940s, that might possibly make them feel different to you, do you think?

The point is we shouldn't be defined as being Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Hindu, Arabic, African, Indian, European, American etc we are just people. A country shouldn't be Jewish, Muslim or Christian.

If we moved away from this idea that we need to fight for a piece of land to be ours and all lived side by side regardless of race or religion rather an area being governed for the best of all the people living in its borders the world would be a happier place. Until then this will continue with both sides being in the wrong for different reason.

Also Black Lives Matter shouldn't be pulled into this it is a much more significant cause because you can't change your race but religion is a choice. Look at the younger generations moving away from religion in large numbers hopefully the world is changing and peace is on the horizon 🤞🏻

Every country sets its own immigration criteria. Israel is not different jn that regard. There are all sorts of religions and ethnicities who live in Israel. But only Jews who have the right of return ie the automatic right to go and live in Israel. All other people can apply to live there if they meet Israel's criteria - same as UK.

thinkfast · 30/10/2023 20:56

@sleepyscientist what a confused post. Judaism is an ethnicity AND a religion. How dare you say that you can change your religion but not your race. I'm not religious but I can't change the fact I'm Jewish.

SomeCatFromJapan · 30/10/2023 20:58

Who says a country shouldn't have a national religion? Why not?

Also being Jewish is an ethnicity as well as a religion. Being secular was no protection from the gas chambers.

LondonMummer · 30/10/2023 21:01

@sleepyscientist Trust me Hitler didn't care if you weren't a practicing Jew

The niggling thought that a lot of so called Pro Palestine Liberation posters on Mumsnet are determinedly under educated at best, just keeps on getting confirmed.
But their assertions about the provenance of conflict vis a vis Israel and Palestinian Liberation is meant to be taken seriously by anybody and everybody?
I'll say it again. As with other movements have done, Palestinians have to seive out who they allow to publicly support their cause, because too many duncebats, members of other minorities who are jealous of Jews and have chosen to cleave to the only openly popular strata of White Supremacy available in order to feel good about themselves and frothers of all sorts too regularly show their anti Semitic hand and use the schism between Israel and Palestinian Liberation as a cover for it.

And what is wrong with Zionism?
Asians have Asia, the majority of non "politically Black" really Black people acknowledge Sub Saharan African provenance, White people the same with Europe, Arabs the Middle East and North Africa, but Jewish people, are not to claim their ancestral home as theirs? Especially as so many in too many countries do not want or barely tolerate Jewish presence in their nations, thus presently and historically rendering Jewish stability of habitat tenuous mostly anywhere that they are maybe aside from Israel, the Americas, the Western Mediterranean ( keep an eye on France) and the UK ( keep an eye on here, too).
Is it the true desire that Jewish people become so assimilated as to.not even self acknowledge their ethnicity and where they come from as a people? Not to be so "Jewish"?

Many tried that pre 1933 and that never stopped them from getting got or their got getting being ignored by the rest of the world until they were six million down .
Why ( I know why as a non anti Semite) does this small ethnicity deep down irritate so many people , many who do not even like each other's groups? Why do most other minorities get patronised with the racism of no or low expectations, but Jewish people are expected to be the perpetual cheek turners instead of flashing their collective arse cheeks for the haters to kiss?
That is a narrative that I see time and time again , most certainly amongst the Left Wing and Woke and the Compartmentalising Virtual Signallers.
Sorry to any Jewish people embarrassed by my post, but I am getting TYAD of the anti Semitism wrapped in faux concern , illiteracy, low research, lying right in front of your eyes, knowing that not too few of these people will say that Black Issues concern them , but come from groups who have yet to show as much solidarity with our causes as much as many Jewish people have, especially in the US, South Africa .....and I am old enough to remember the murder of Blair Peach over here, too.

The allyship was often paid in blood or with life or exile.

It wasn't the allyship of keyboard warriorism and protest in a time when Plod is one hundredth as "tasty" in the UK as it was then and with no camera phones , too.
But these threads bring out the low information disingenuous at far higher proportions than even the "Black " threads....so I don't expect those scapegraces to know anything of substance.
And to be clear. I am not talking about those who have empathy or show support for the Palestinian cause, even passionately and do not have anti Semitism at the forefront of their concern or allyship.
And telling a Jewish person what and what is not anti Semitic is probably anti Semitism 101.
If you find it hard, just imagine that my your Black friend ,( real or imagined) is in front of you telling you about some racist shit that they have experienced today and would you dare to fix your lips to say " but that's not racist!" without the expectation that you and the whole of your family tree, past, present, twinkle in the eye receive a proper verbal take down?
Because why would your Black friend conveniently be a simp?

Are you Black? Your post reeks of covert antiBlack racism in the way it's littered with Black comparisons and what happens to Black people in Black spaces among people who have Black friends. Are you speaking from experience?

I ask because I see a pattern with posters who use these points as an excuse to bring up Black people. No one who truly knows, suppports and understands Black people, and what they face daily with no way to blend into any crowd except among only Black people, would be saying such things, for one because it's completely untrue to say the least. Two, because it's an easy way to throw Black people under the bus to be hated on for daring to be treated with some form of decency by a few.

Fucking hell. This is shockingly offensive. Jewish people can’t change their ethnicity either. Do you know how many secular or converted Jews were murdered by the Nazis?

Edith Stein was a Catholic nun and that didn’t stop the Nazis sending her to a gas chamber in Aushwitz. Your post is incredibly offensive.

Judaism is a non-proselytising religion. It doesn’t seek to convert others. As a result, the Jewish people are an ethic group (or a group of groups depending on how you categorise). Christianity and Islam are proselytising religions that seek converts. Christians and Muslim are not ethnic groups in themselves.

Takoneko · 30/10/2023 21:09

I do actually know how to spell Auschwitz. Apologies for the careless error.

Thank you for this. It is tiresome seeing posters using black people to make whatever point they are trying to make. Usually, these posters lack any knowledge of being black, because they are not black, and it shows in their crass comments.

Fucking hell. The fact that the first most are saying those aren't anti-Semitic is an eye-opener.

I'm sorry OP, it's shite.

Agree.

Aydel · 30/10/2023 21:19

My mother’s family are Jewish. I didn’t find out until I was in my 30s. My mother told me about the anti-Semitic attacks on them - she as a small child was chased through the streets and had stones thrown at her. They moved to a different part of London and changed their name and their story. Started going to church. Denied being Jewish. I lived in Poland in the 80s and 90s. There are almost no Jews in Poland, yet all the graffiti was anti semitic. You don’t need Jews for anti semitism.

sleepyscientist · 30/10/2023 21:22

@thinkfast you can choose to not be religious or convert to a different religion. Both me and my husband are baptised in Christian dominations however neither of us are religious or would say we are Christian as we are atheists it's a choice to follow the religion. DH can claim a European passport but doesn't see himself as that ethnicity as he was born here. However what he can't change is the features genetically that make in European.

@Takoneko this isn't about the Nazi's this is about a way forward in a world that is changing. If Isreal wasn't seen as a Jewish homeland because of Hitler the political landscape would be totally different. The occupations of the West Bank, the isolation of Gaza, the election of Hamas etc is about keeping the land as theirs. It's the same as Russia trying to claim Ukraine.

Take religion and race out of the question and define your self as the country in which you have a permanent address and you lose the desire to chase a piece of land just because you parents lived there. Non of us own land we are only guest of nature living on it by the rules of our elected governments whatever they may be

You literally don't know or understand what being Jewish is do you?

Seriously in this day and age, when you can use Google.

Mind blowing the lack of education on here sometimes

Radyward · 30/10/2023 21:31

It also looks like egypt will be forced to take 2.2 million palestinians. Like WTF.
Israel bombing gaza- lebanon- syria at the same time plus oops 2 accidental bombs on egypt. Fgs how can Biden endorse this. If this continues and israel destabilises the ME , WW3 is upon us all and Biden and israel unwavering supports worldwide will have caused it. For goodness sake STOP

Moreempatheticmyarse · 30/10/2023 21:33

The determination to ignore the fact that people are ethnically Jewish as well as it being a religion is dumbfounded.

As is the undertone being pushed that if people don't opt out of a religion then bad things that happen are their own fault because they choose to be that religion

SomeCatFromJapan · 30/10/2023 21:34

@Radyward he also posted the following, that's why.

Apparently non religious Jews have nothing to worry about🤔

Well except Hitler killed Jews whether they practiced Judaism or not

Oh and Hamas kill Israelis whether they practice Judaism or not

In fact I know people with only one part that is Jewish and they are not religious Jews themselves. However because they have a Jewish surname they have been subject to hate crimes
