Placards from antisemitic marches in London

I had written this as a response to the other thread which was closed as it was overrun by antisemitic d**ks. As I'm sure this one will be too. They can't allow us to share the truth of what is being said and done in our own home towns and cities.

Look at these images. No, they are not in the minority or unusual. Here are just a few of many, many overtly antisemitic placards from Saturday's protest in London. (And a bonus one from 2021, which the lovely John McDonnell also spoke at.)

This is MY HOME. I am Jewish. My family fled pogroms in Eastern Europe and Nazis in Germany. Those family members who didn't flee were murdered for being Jews. And here we fucking are again. In London. And people defending it.

This is NOTHING TO DO WITH ISRAEL. These are Jew-haters, the faces of hate, the faces of anger and mockery, openly calling for Jews, for me, my family, my children, my parents, to be murdered, in my home city.

And people are defending it. How the fuck do you think we feel?

@Uricon2 Your comment just reinforces the point of the cartoon!

Nothing about that cartoon is anti-Semitic. It shows an Israeli representative (represented by an Israeli flag) and a Palestinian (represented by a Palestinian flag).
Yes, the Israeli is depicted as stronger - which is entirely accurate in this conflict, since Israel is the OCCUPYING power with one of the most powerful armies in the world (receiving 14 BILLION dollars in military aid from the US and possessing nuclear weapons). Nothing anti-Semitic about that. It's simply a fact.
The Palestinian is shown as smaller, which is also accurate in real terms - they have no state of their own and no army. And yet when they resist against an oppressive military occupation, they are labelled anti-Semitic - as you have just labelled the cartoon.
Criticism of Israel is NOT anti-Semitism. And trying to silence people for speaking truth to power is not noble in any way.

Ecdysiast · 06/11/2023 20:20

@ganondoof Even the title of this thread reinforces the point the cartoon was making. No "anti-Semitic marches" have taken place in the UK. That would certainly be wrong. There have been marches in support of the Palestinian people and in opposition to Israel's brutal bombing campaign to wipe them off the map. Labelling these marches as "anti-Semitic" just shows that OP has no tolerance for the slightest criticism of Israel. There have been many Jews at the marches walking side by side with others who believe in human rights and dignity for all people.

The head of the organisation behind the marches said himself that their aim is the complete destruction of Israel. He doesn't believe Israel has the right to exist. The marches are antisemitic.

Please give the reference where he said 'their aim is the complete destruction of Israel'
And again as said before there are many many marches with many different organisers all over the country aswell as Globally
Washington DC had the biggest pro Palestinian march recorded in history this weekend

Did you see the pictures in the OP of the anti-Semitic placards? Although given you think a cartoon about Jews being all powerful overlords is fine you probably agree with them.

Ecdysiast · 06/11/2023 20:55

@ganondoof The cartoon I am talking about had nothing to do with Jews. It was about Israel and the Palestinians. There is a difference.

Washington DC had a pro Palestian march organised by a group which has openly been supporting Hamas and Hezbollah for years. In 2003 they organised an event and invited the Hamas leadership along. Lots of useful idiots doesn't make it less antisemitic than the marches in the UK.

Ecdysiast · 06/11/2023 21:54

@MrTiddlesTheCat And the marches in the UK? They are not organised by one individual or group, so who is the "he" you refer to and where is your reference?

They are organised by the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign or by other groups affiliated to them.

I find it really shocking that people are supporting these marches and arguing in defence of them without the foggiest about who is behind them and what they stand for.

And yet it was reported for being antisemitic and was deleted for being antisemitic.

Stomacharmeleon · 06/11/2023 22:05

Ben Jamal. Was on channel 4 news too.

I believe there are six 'groups' that are involved with the marches that have Hamas sympathies or ties with Hamas.

It is perfectly possible to criticise the actions of Israel without being antisemitic. That however was an antisemitic cartoon, it has been in circulation for quite a while, long before the current conflict and has been has been labelled as such widely. Why you felt it necessary to post it on a thread discussing the experience of antisemitism of the Jewish population of Britain escapes me, in terms of an honest motive.

I guarantee that I know more about the history of antisemitism than you do, I don't care if you believe me or not, but I will not stop calling it out when I see it.

Here's a source for you. Another leader of the organisation behind the UK marches barred from Israel after being photographed hobnobbing with the Hamas leadership. There's even photos to prove it.

Poppy seller veteran, 78, is 'punched by pro-Palestine protesters' in Edinburgh Waverley station

A poppy seller caught up in a pro-Palestine rally said he was punched and kicked by a mob of protesters.

Social media footage shows the 78-year-old – in his distinctive red beret – trying to escape. But the attack ended only when railway staff shoved the demonstrators away.

It was not the only example of poppy sellers being intimidated over the weekend. Several at Charing Cross station in London were surrounded by a gang of protesters.

Ecdysiast · 07/11/2023 00:26

@Uricon2 That cartoon has been in circulation long before the 'current conflict'? What exactly do you mean by 'current conflict'? Israel's brutality against the Palestinians has been going on for more than 75 years - and for much of that time accusations of anti-Semitism have been levelled against those who dare to speak out against its actions. The cartoon is more than 75 years old? I don't think so.
How much longer do innocent Palestinians have to endure punishment to atone for European anti-Semitism?

Ecdysiast · 07/11/2023 00:38

Being barred from Israel does not make you a criminal. Calling for a boycott of Israeli and international companies that are complicit in violations of Palestinian rights is a legitimate response to the actions of an apartheid state.

You know who's a criminal? This man:

Obviously.

But how about people don't assault or Intimidate somebody else because they disagree about something happening over a 1000 miles away?

Struggggggling · 07/11/2023 01:01

@Trulywonderful and @StarbucksSmarterSister

Great, can you both condemn Hamas and the Israeli government and also say that you are devastated by the loss of both palestinian and Israeli life
