Placards from antisemitic marches in London

I had written this as a response to the other thread which was closed as it was overrun by antisemitic d**ks. As I'm sure this one will be too. They can't allow us to share the truth of what is being said and done in our own home towns and cities.

Look at these images. No, they are not in the minority or unusual. Here are just a few of many, many overtly antisemitic placards from Saturday's protest in London. (And a bonus one from 2021, which the lovely John McDonnell also spoke at.)

This is MY HOME. I am Jewish. My family fled pogroms in Eastern Europe and Nazis in Germany. Those family members who didn't flee were murdered for being Jews. And here we fucking are again. In London. And people defending it.

This is NOTHING TO DO WITH ISRAEL. These are Jew-haters, the faces of hate, the faces of anger and mockery, openly calling for Jews, for me, my family, my children, my parents, to be murdered, in my home city.

And people are defending it. How the fuck do you think we feel?

To put things into perspective

But why this thread in particular? Why not the hundreds of other mumsnet threads that are about things that are less important?

Rubbishagain · 31/10/2023 23:45

Definitely not shouting just informing.

Are you also on style and beauty putting things into perspective? Or the numerous halloween threads?

Well you better be informing the parenting, breastfeeding, hobbies, weight loss and all the other threads to that they are not 100% focusing on Gaza. If not then why would you jump on this thread about antisemitic signs and start informing. It makes you look like you would rather derail the thread than let people talk about if the signs are antisemitic. Sorry to tell you but that isn't a good look. It will just make people think you are trying to distract from racism.

This whole situation is very sad and frustrating. No one can bring themselves to condemn the root of all the problems discussed here regarding placards etc that being illegal evil settlers and IDF torturing innocent civilians

Oh because anti Semitism only started in the last 75 years?

Go away and educate yourself.

IClaudine · 01/11/2023 07:29

You forgot to add "and patronising".

Because it’s under the heading conflict in the Middle East

You have wandered into one conversation, plonked yourself down and demanded people start talking about what you want to talk about instead then started wailing about bullies when they point out they were having a totally different conversation.

If you want to talk about this, start a new thread about it.

There is no content in your original comment to respond to. You did that thing were you just randomly start talking about something completely different to what everyone else is talking about. Multiple people did then respond to your subsequent comment where you decide that actually, antisemitism started because of the IDF. You neglected to respond to any of us to further clarify what you meant, or to apologise for so obviously getting things wrong and blaming the victims of antisemitism for antisemitism existing in the first place.

Uricon2 · 01/11/2023 09:28

"Keep talking about placards when this is happening" and "If only the placards were our biggest issue" Your words from 2 of your posts @Rubbishagain

You are completely ignoring what this thread is about, the justifiable concerns of British Jews, who have as much control over Netanyahu as you or I, for their safety in their home, the UK. It is as valid to discuss this as it is the horrible situation in Gaza.

I would be genuinely interested in your views on the history of antisemitism, which most definitely did not start in 1948.

And? It's about anti-Semetic placards and anti-Semetism more generally.

You are the bully here. Telling Jewish people they are wrong to be worried about anti-Semitism.

Yes. I have observed them first hand.

My 'agenda' is not to be fucking terrorised and murdered in my own home city, and to speak out against the huge wave of global antisemitism, just the latest one in a history going back 2000 years, which has led to mass murders of Jews in every century. Is there something odd about that?

But, you know, bonus points for getting an antisemitic buzzword into your odd post.

I am not the OP, obviously, but IMHO the marches are not anti-Semitic. Some of the people on them are though, as evidenced by the placards in the OP and other images from recent marches. Those people are in the minority, but the fact that they are there should not be ignored or minimised.

There are many facets of the conflict in the Middle East. Here on this thread, OP is specifically mentioning the rise in very obvious and overt anti-semitism. This thread here is about that. Everyone commenting on here is talking about the placards and sharing their opinion on the placards. You, on the other hand, are trying to bring the focus of the discussion on to the bombing of the Gaza Strip. A lot of people active on this thread will be active on others and reading about that issue and sharing their opinions there. But this specific thread is about placards FFS.
which is what we will continue to discuss here. That is why no one is replying to the content of your comments. It’s the wrong thread.

there is no need to swear - helps no-one.
and it seems that already I have been called anti-semitic.
Pray tell on what grounds?

what antisemitic buzzword has convicted me?

The organiser of the marches confirmed on Channel 4 News that Israel has no right to exist and the call of the marches is to bring about the end of Israel.

The marches in London are as antisemitic as you can get. The fact that thousands of useful idiots join in, oblivious to the aims of the organisation they are marching for. doesn't change that.

BlurredEdges · 01/11/2023 10:28

@FordAnglia I don't give a fuck if you disapprove of me swearing.

"Pray tell" is a spectacularly wanky thing to write but hey, each to their own.

Bye now.

Agree with you on the marches - have not been on any (may do) but have observed two.
Have seen or heard no anti-semitism.
Agree that yes am prepared to believe (more than) that there are some anti semites in the mix - people will exploit any cause for noxious ends. Agree that they are in a minority.
I trust we can also agree that anti semitism stinks and of course should not be ignored or minimised.
I don't think the marches are anti semitic - which they seem to have been labelled as from the off. Which is more than curious.

An alternative take on the marches from someone who was there.

"There are hundreds of Jews on the demonstration. In fact, I've never experienced the more beautiful energy. I saw no hate, just a kind of a wonderful caring for humanity"

Alexei Sayle, Jewish.

He has a few other things to say but that will do for now.

well you noticeably didn't answer my perfectly reasonable question - after making an extremely serious charge against me.

What is your view on the placards in the OP?

Can you please provide a reference for this?
I wasn't aware that the marches had a single organiser.
Yes of course Israel has a right to exist.

WriterHK · 01/11/2023 10:41

I was in London during one of the marches running an errand. All of my Jewish family and friends were marching. From what I saw of the march, I personally didn’t see any anti-Semitic placards or hear any anti-Semitic chanting, but I can’t comment for the entire of the march. The current of emotion seemed to be more about stopping the bombing of the Gaza Strip.

However, there must be some anti-semites on the marches, given the shocking and disgusting images in the original post. That sort of stuff is inexcusable and the person holding that placard needs to be arrested for inciting hatred.
