Placards from antisemitic marches in London

I had written this as a response to the other thread which was closed as it was overrun by antisemitic d**ks. As I'm sure this one will be too. They can't allow us to share the truth of what is being said and done in our own home towns and cities.

Look at these images. No, they are not in the minority or unusual. Here are just a few of many, many overtly antisemitic placards from Saturday's protest in London. (And a bonus one from 2021, which the lovely John McDonnell also spoke at.)

This is MY HOME. I am Jewish. My family fled pogroms in Eastern Europe and Nazis in Germany. Those family members who didn't flee were murdered for being Jews. And here we fucking are again. In London. And people defending it.

This is NOTHING TO DO WITH ISRAEL. These are Jew-haters, the faces of hate, the faces of anger and mockery, openly calling for Jews, for me, my family, my children, my parents, to be murdered, in my home city.

And people are defending it. How the fuck do you think we feel?

meanwhile this is actually happening in West Bank. It’s just awful. They are killing children for no reason. Keep talking about placards when this is happening

@Rubbishagain your still not getting it. It's not about the situation in Israel it's about the bigger situation for all Jews and the antisemitism it brings.

This thread is about anti-Semitic placards.. Why are you trying to make people discussing the thread issue feel ashamed?

Purity spiral. Moral outbidding.

Makes posters feel smug and better than you.

Trulywonderful · 31/10/2023 20:26

Most people can manage to think of more than one important issue at a time

Sorry if you are unable to do this

However please don't derail a thread or try to make people feel bad because they can think about more than one issue at a time

You risk looking like you don't think abusing others and hating on minority groups because of evil ideologies is wrong 🤔

*"So head off to a thread about Halloween decorations and tell them there."

How offensive and disgusting is this comment. Shame on you

Trulywonderful · 31/10/2023 21:23

I obviously missed something there as a post was deleted. However try to behave on a thread about racism and hate crimes being wrong. Plus calling out people that support Hamas and their extremist aims.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 31/10/2023 21:40

I was deleted because I tried to make the point, perhaps too obliquely, that when Mumsnet is full of people talking about all kinds of trivia it is a bit bizarre when someone decides that the place where they are going to tell people they should not be talking about the subject of the thread because they should be talking about the atrocities against children in Gaza is the thread discussing anti Semitic placards.

Uricon2 · 31/10/2023 22:14

It is perfectly valid to be concerned about propaganda placards which could lead to the further suffering of the Jewish citizens of Britain, who have no more influence on Benjamin Netanyahu than any of us do. Their existence on show in public are hate crimes.

The insidious nature of this stuff has a long and terrible history and it usually starts with such things, words, images, distortions, lies.. Calling them out does not influence the plight of those terribly affected in Gaza (and I know they are) at all.

We will thanks, since that's what this thread is about. If we want to talk about that particular Instagram story we'd go to one of the numerous other threads you've posted it on.

Nothing to do with feeling ashamed. Just factual information about what’s happening and definitely not belittling the placards issue but just putting reality into perspective. If only the placards were our biggest issue. The way these innocent people are being treated is disgusting and needs to be condemned and addressed

Are you going onto every other thread on MN to say "if only xyz were our biggest issue"?

@Rubbishagain your still not getting it. It's not about the situation in Israel it's about the bigger situation for all Jews and the antisemitism it brings.

The bigger situation involves innocent people being tortured regardless of religion. It’s just totally unacceptable and needs to be called out for what it is

No one has said this isn't happening though, it's quite possible to create placards that aren't antisemitic and attend marches. It is an issue that Jews are being openly targeted globally, one thing doesn't negate another- it can and is true that people are suffering in Gaza and it is also true that escalating antisemitism is worrying.

You are still failing to understand that other issues still exist along side the one you are talking about

Sorry but the whole world and everyone in it won't and can't stop suddenly because of one issue. That is very unrealistic and never going to happen. People can and will be concerned about what is happening in the middle east. However they are at the same time concerned about stuff going on close to home or in their own life.

People can think about and talk about more than one issue. You jumping on threads and shouting about something off topic doesn't help people in gaza. It just makes people pissed off with you.

If the placards existed purely in a bubble they would be offensive but not the "biggest issue", but there is an enormous history for the Jewish people of things starting with words and pictures and ending up in mass murder, not on one occasion but times beyond counting.

How much do you know about the history of antisemitism?

Rubbishagain · 31/10/2023 23:44

This whole situation is very sad and frustrating. No one can bring themselves to condemn the root of all the problems discussed here regarding placards etc that being illegal evil settlers and IDF torturing innocent civilians

So you think antisemitism exists because of settlers and the IDF?

You don't think antisemitism has been around for just a little bit longer than the IDF? Like maybe that antisemitism is the reason the IDF came into existence in the first place?

Why do you feel the need to hijack a thread about anti-Semitism to talk about Gaza? Do you really think that's appropriate, essentially implying "you brought it upon yourselves"?

Go away and do some reading. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Wasting your time with some people UrUricon2.

Some will refuse to admit a problem with these signs no matter what. They think it would undermine their cause to agree something is antisemitic. However not calling out Jew hate undermines the marches and signs way more

Plus obviously their are some that agree with the signs Jew hate messages and therefore will never see wrong in them or that they are racist.

So you mean Jews? Jews are responsible for antisemitism and not antisemites? Get your gloves off and just say it.
