Be ashamed of yourselves

That’s right be ashamed of yourselves. I come in these threads thinking I’ll read someone saying what’s happening to the people of Palestine is awful but what I end up reading is people saying they brought it on themselves because they elected Hamas.

So, what if they elected Hamas. We elected the Conservative party but they don’t speak for me, they certainly don’t act on behalf of the everyday citizen of this country. Be ashamed of yourselves for not valuing the lives of Palestinians but putting so much value on the lives of Israelis.

be ashamed of yourselves for justifying the ethnic cleansing of over 2 million people because Hamas attacked Israel in early October. Be ashamed of yourselves for standing for genocide in 2023!

be ashamed of yourselves for saying we would never allow the holocaust to happen again yet Palestinians are held in an open air prison. It’s literally been called a concentration camp, with no way in or out and they are being rampaged with bombs, white phosphorus bombs being dropped on them non stop. On Sunday night 400 died because of the bombs, over 2000 children are now dead. Be ashamed of yourselves for justifying their deaths and blaming them for it.

be ashamed of yourselves for condoning the protestors for wanting Palestinians to have a right to live a peaceful existence.

be ashamed for bringing history into justifying the slaughter of so many people. Yes, Palestinians did welcome Israelis into the holy land in the 1940’s, it doesn’t mean they get to die now. Yes, Israel has a right to exist, but that doesn’t mean Palestine doesn’t. Yes, Israel has land grabbed and continues to do so but no one is allowed to say anything. Yes, their is no Hamas in the West Bank but why are the Palestinian still being killed. Why are so many people illegally arrested mainly kids - held for decades in Israel prisons. Are they not hostages? Yea, Israel asked asked the Palestinians to move to the south with 24 hours notice for their ‘safety’ yet they are being killed in the south.

be ashamed if you ask any one who stands to defend the rights of Palestinians if they condemn Hamas. Everyone condemns Hamas. Being pro Palestinian doesn’t mean your pro-Hamas. I also condemn the barbarian acts of genocide committed by Israel. I condemn the open displays of hate for Palestinian people - calling them human animals etc.

Be ashamed if you think it’s so great they are letting a trickle of aid in but no fuel to run hospitals. Electricity ran out last night in the hospital. So many babies reliant in incubators will die as a result. be ashamed if you think it’s okay for world leaders to not call for a ceasefire and instead show 100% support to what Israel
is doing.

no one has the right to hold one life more dearer than another.

you should be ashamed of yourselves for valuing some over others.

@OhHelloTheres I think it was with yourself or another poster that I was discussing carpet bombing with.
I was watching eye.on.palestine. Live last night
They were streaming live from the occupied west bank I believe
The bombs were non stop. Not even pausing for a minute. It was absolutely horrific
Whether it can be classified as carpet bombing or not It was continuous
All you could see hear was continuous blasts and the sky line lighting up with each blast

Thisworld10 · 28/10/2023 14:23

Elon Musk has agreed to provide starling for UN aid and international agencies. That’s something good atleast some comms will be restored.

That's weird. Because Israel has elections, with a free vote. Free press, trade unions, women's rights and gay rights. I'm no fan of Netanyahu, but we are talking about a democracy here. Many of us here dislike Sunak and Braverman, but we're free to say so. Netanyahu is being criticised in the Israeli press and will not retain power. He's not equivalent to a Hamas leader, however vile both may be.
You may, with some justification, despise this man, but at least understand what actually goes on.

Great, so Israel is inhabited by people who vote for far right fascists. That makes it even worse.

Maireas · 28/10/2023 14:24

Gruntsandgroans · 28/10/2023 14:14

Ooh, a democratic terrorist state how very modern! It's great isn't it, they will allow women and gays equal rights just not Palestinians. Do they just go around pretending that they aren't keeping over 2million people under their strict control in Gaza while patting themselves on the back for giving themselves trade unions? Sounds fabulous, a bit of occupation and apartheid in the morning followed by a Pride parade in the afternoon! There's something for everyone in Israel, they should put that in their YouTube ads.

Well, there's no need for that.
I understand feelings are running high and I am also disturbed by events.
My point is this: there is a vast chasm between a secular democratic state, however imperfect, and an Islamist regime. As we all know.

It wasn't me. I've purposely not posted on this thread in a couple of days as obviously things have ramped up and people are worried about their loved ones in Gaza at the moment so was trying to give posters some space to grieve rather than debate why it's all happening.

I obviously have a very different view from a lot of you as to why all this is happening, but these online discussions aren't going to change anything. It's happening and people are allowed to grieve their losses. I've had to bite my tongue at a few comments but that's life 🙃

Imperfect is downplaying it just a little don't you think? I don't think countries should be patting themselves on the back for letting some LGBT people have rights while over the wall they have been enforcing collective punishment on 2.2million people. I guess the LGBT people over there are the wrong type, as are the women and the children. People pretending that Israel is some kind of enlightened place doing battle with the less enlightened aren't helping anything, especially when it is a bare faced lie.

Really not a problem! You and I have had plenty of debates across various threads, so it's understandable

Hamas is not a left wing resistance group. It's a jihadi movement.
If you'd rather live under an Islamist regime, fine. I would not.

@SeeReality
What have I just read🤣
You are owed nothing. This is not your space. You are not owed people "backing off". Its a public forum. Stop grief vulturing and adjust your sense of self importance. I repeat: nobody needs to back off you. If you can't handle it, find a different platform.

A great many people are upset over unfolding events. Perhaps it would be better to show some restraint when posting instead of laughing in people's faces and casually dismissing their distress.

IDF has done a televised warning in English to the people in the north to move south for their own welfare ‘temporarily’. If they don’t have internet or electricity how can they watch the TV? Many of them won’t even understand English. The sceptic in me thinks this was done to show the world they are giving warning.

last time they temporarily moved people they still haven’t been able to live back and secondly it’s known that they are bombing the south. So how can they be believed?

OP posts:
Thisworld10 · 28/10/2023 16:03

Plus how long have they been given to leave? What happens to the injured and ill?

I think your suspicions are valid. Simply so they can say "But but but - we gave them warning and they didn't move!"
Never mind that many can't, have nowhere else to go, might not understand English...

More hospitals being hit

Be ashamed of yourselves
Parkingt111 · 28/10/2023 17:30

Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, said on Saturday that “far too many civilians, including children, have been killed” and “this is against international humanitarian law.”

Be ashamed of yourselves
Xenia · 28/10/2023 17:39

I just heard a R 4 BBC newsclip. In my view it was very very misleading. Immediately after Hamas terrorists invaded Israel when Gaza had full comms Israel told those in the north to move to the South. Everyone knows that. Thus the point that comms may now be currently down is irrelevant. They were warned a while back and if they chose to stay with the terrorists in the North they have been warned.

At least they can change their minds at the next election.

Thisworld10 · 28/10/2023 17:48

@xenia we are talking about the televised broadcast after they cut all comms. Another war crime btw. The one they originally did the drs said no we can’t we have injured and ill to attend to, some flees but we’re bombed by israel
in the way to the south (evidence is all over the internet) and continue to be bombed in the south.
