Wow. I realise these incidents are on the up but that’s so blatant. She goes on to dissemble:

She continued: “I do not support the killing of civilians, of course, but I support Hamas and Palestinians’ rights to stand up for themselves.”

She openly supports Hamas. This is a medical student. She also stated that the banner referred to the Israeli government not Jewish people or Israelis in general. Yeah, alright love, pull the other one it has got bells on…

I’m not sure what I’m asking here- just so shocked to see this.

‘It’s against the Israeli government’: Student Marie Andersen tries to defend vile anti-Semitic sign after global fury

Norwegian medical student Marie Andersen has attempted to defend her anti-Semitic poster as she insisted it was about the "Israeli government" while it showed the Star of David being binned next to the words “keep the world clean”.

Terrifying. But here we are. Plenty marched alongside her, completely complicit.

ketchup07070 · 23/10/2023 15:03

That is shocking. I am deeply sorry that antisemitism is on the rise and that our Jewish communities are afraid for their lives.

EsmaCannonball · 23/10/2023 15:50

Doctors were the single biggest profession to join the SS. Maybe she has a few career goals?

ChalkWitch · 23/10/2023 16:42

I did not know that @EsmaCannonball just trying to square that with one of our major edicts: first do no harm… just incredible.

Comedycook · 23/10/2023 16:43

Such a shame I can't say what I really want to say about her because I would probably get banned

ChalkWitch · 23/10/2023 16:45

And yes plenty marched complicitly with her holding that sign. I can’t imagine how that can happen. To paraphrase, I guess that is indeed all it takes for evil to flourish; for good people to stand by and do nothing…

OP posts:
ChalkWitch · 23/10/2023 16:48

@Comedycook quite. If she doesn’t get chucked out of med school for that than frankly I despair.

etmoietmoietmoi · 23/10/2023 16:48

She wasn't alone, sadly. I've seen other examples of the same placard.

ChalkWitch · 23/10/2023 16:51

@etmoietmoietmoi that news saddens me. That is the only example I have seen. To hear that others are happily holding these up is very bloody scary. I find it intolerable that this would be directed to any group, but why the police did nothing in this instance is shocking.

Yes, I saw an image of it at the London march, it's on Tracy Ann Oberman's x account.

I couldn't agree more. Decent people have to call this out.

Maireas · 23/10/2023 17:14

It's advocating ethnic cleansing, genocide. Horrific.

Greenshake · 23/10/2023 17:15

I hope this vile individual is charged and convicted with whatever relevant offence stands in Poland. Just disgusting.

Absolutely this.

I am actually in shock by the almost immediate acceptance (and ignoring) of antisemitic rehetoric in these marches.

How on earth, in Europe, has this happened? I feel like I’ve woken up 100 years in the past. I almost can’t believe what I’m seeing.

MentallyNormal · 23/10/2023 17:50

It’s not shocking at all, it’s just that we’re more used to the more socially palatable form of antisemitism - anti-Zionism. There is nothing new about any of it.

They don't just do nothing. It's worse than that.

I guarantee if there was someone standing next to her with an Israeli flag, they would consider this woman branding this genocidal antisemitic message as the "good one" and the Israeli supporter as the "bad one". Such is their prejudice they have now lost all ability to see right from wrong.

Hence here so many of them are reframing burning babies, rape and cold blooded murder of innocent civilians as "resistance". There is no form of "resistance" that actually looks anything like that, but their prejudice against the ole star of David is now so deeply ingrained, we have almost become monsters in their eyes - undeserving of even basic empathy.

I have watched antisemitism creeping into the mainstream, particularly via the "anti imperial" left (who don't understand what imperialism is) and it's been a slow but powerful process.

Bit by bit, each person contributes their little bit - subtle, but chip chip chip of sharing blatantly antisemitic words, images and ideas to millions via social media and making it en vogue to persecute Jews again, and it works rather like advertising.

It poisons the minds of people to generally dehumanise Jewish people to a point this woman is standing in the middle of a protest in broad daylight - purportedly advocating for HUMAN RIGHTS, whilst brandishing a sign that Goebbels himself might have felt too direct.

And I saw the video of her on Twittter explaining herself, and she has not the slightest clue what she is talking about. It's clear she keeps looking at her friend for instructions for what to say. It's clear she hasn't even got the most basic information needed to have any kind of opinion at all. Yet here she is, believing herself to be actually virtue signalling because the left wing have "made antisemitism great again".

And I am left wing myself!

This is how the majority of the population of this world was convinced for millennia that Jews were evil, bad, worthy of all the hate - simply by everyone just going along with it. How they don't feel icky, I will never know.

piddocktrumperiness · 23/10/2023 18:06

it's disgusting- absolutely horrifying, mortifying and shameful.

please remember this idiot was not the only one protesting or marching. Many were marching for genuine solidarity. Many were marching to help the citizens of Gaza.

She would have been better off putting a picture of Bibi in the bin. Many would cheer that on

I honestly just don't buy into that.

I think if you want to protest for peace, you do exactly that.

Take placards calling for peace for ALL.

Demand hostages are released
Demand a ceasefire
Demand aid for Gaza.

Demand Hamas cease terrorist activity

That sounds like a positive message reflective of reality.

What I saw was just anti Israel and tacit support from a lot of people from really horrifying acts of terror.

You’re right. Sadly.

I have, naively, always associated this kind of sentiment with far right extremism.

I foolishly, and in retrospect allowed myself to be utterly brainwashed into believing that the left were too progressive for racism. How wrong I was.

Trying to compute what I am seeing with whom I am seeing doing it, has really changed how I see and view the world. Never did I ever think I would hear women defend the raping of women and mutilation of children. My eyes have been opened. Europe suddenly does not feel as safe as I once thought it was.

Teddleshon · 23/10/2023 18:19

I feel pity for her that she is so damned ignorant.

piddocktrumperiness · 23/10/2023 18:26

I agree with your post mostly @LemonyTicket

Would having a placard saying 'withdraw settlements', 'end military rule', 'out with Bibi', 'end occupation in WB' also be suitable in a protest/march?

I can understand many are asking for peace, but I also understand that some in the marches are trying to highlight the oppression Palestinians are suffering from; in Gaza and WB (therefore not solely down to Hamas)

Reallifelurker · 23/10/2023 18:31

That is disappointing to say the least Sad. It certainly adds weight to the argument that the protesters are not all acting in good faith.

PurpleChrayne · 23/10/2023 18:31

please remember this idiot was not the only one protesting or marching. Many were marching for genuine solidarity. Many were marching to help the citizens of Gaza.

Lest we forget, eh? As if we'd be allowed to.

Xenia · 23/10/2023 18:32

I wonder what the police would have done if people carried signs the other way round - keep the world clean and then a muslim in a bin? As long as both view points are treated the same way I don't have a problem and I believe in free speech but this conflict is certainly showing how many people in the UK are anti Israel.

piddocktrumperiness · 23/10/2023 18:35

@PurpleChrayne I fear this will all be old news soon as cyclical violence tends to be. So many will forget, and not care about the women and children anymore and that is mostly the problem is it not?
