The 'rules'

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday. Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended)

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at ever opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Resist the lure of ovulation predictor kits, Taking Control of Your Fertility and the dreaded First Repsonse. Knowing where you are in your cycle is entirely permissible though!

Going to the doctor is permitted if you've had a stupidly long cycle but beware of the dildo-cam-scan.

Keep acronmyage to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

Williamsmummy - i kind of like my nights on my own as DH snores badly!! though he was ok last night (hmm, maybe we've found a cure )

Vallinna - i am drinking a lot at the mo, but knowing how long i'll be hardly on the stuff for probably 2 years (with pg + bf) i'm making the most of it!
Best try to cut down over the next couple of weeks though.

BrassicaBabe · 23/07/2010 17:16

I've been roped into a family dinner. Luckily it's early so I'm hoping to make my excuses at a resonable time to come home and drink wine!!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 23/07/2010 17:48

Ohh JKS as soon as you have a DC your ability to drink more than 1 glass of anything dissappears (it feels like) forever. By the time you've been pg for 9 month then bf for however long, it's not easy getting back on that drinking horse again. Being drunk with a LO around isn't very cool or safe anyway says the girl who's son has a scar on his head from just that though in my defence he was learning to walk so would have fallen anyway and the scar is tiny!.
So enjoy your wine and please, have a bottle for me too?

JustKeepSwimming · 23/07/2010 18:09

I know NMCB - it's taken me years to get my drinking boots back on!!

Off out tonight for some serious knocking back sipping of wine!

takethatlady · 23/07/2010 19:04

Hey shagbusters,

Wedding anniversary today so things are -sweaty- lively around here

I'll also be joining all of you on the drinkathon! It's a perfect day to get back on your drinking horses, ladies (though in a shag cape I reckon it's more luck a drinking bronco). Giddee up girls!

Glad your cycles are back to normal williamsmummy. For the second time this month I think I'm ovulating. Clearly I have no idea about temps, pant snot or any such thing ...

takethatlady · 23/07/2010 19:05

I just knew that strike-through wouldn't work!

CoraBear · 23/07/2010 20:28

Sooo jealous of you all having wine. I'm on the pints of water. I had my doc's appointment and I am 4 weeks pregnant. So exited and terrified and sore. The doc made a joke about me having twins as I was VERY pregnant for three weeks according to the test. Can't wait for my 9 week scan.

BrassicaBabe · 23/07/2010 20:28

hehe safely escaped! Supposed to be back later for drinks, but think I'll be conveniently "asleep on the sofa"

Hellloooo sofa, tv and wine!!

JKS my DH snores too. Have you tried holding his nose closed until he rolls over

Happy Anniversary thatthat Great mental picture of you on horse with a shag cape flowing in the wind. Anyone remember Flambards?! Or am I showing my age?!!!

BrassicaBabe · 23/07/2010 20:30

oops cross post cora Glad it's all confirmed and going well. Docs who joke like that deserve a poke in the eye!!

gormers · 23/07/2010 20:50

Evening ladies.

Just back from a mammoth shop for a boozy boozy BBQ tomorrow, so def joining you all on the drinkathon! And to get over a hard weeks work, I think I'll start tonight!

Ah, to think a few months back, when we started ttc, I took it so seriously and hardly any alcohol at all! How times change! Have a great weekend everyone, and some fantastic alcohol fuelled js!!

BrassicaBabe · 23/07/2010 21:27

My life is complete! DH away. I'm literally hiding from the in-laws in my house. Remebered half bottle of pink champagne in the fridge. So I've taken it to bed along with the laptop and I've got the tv remote to myself. I love life!!

(Although having been out for a meal involving a 3 and a 6 year old found myself considering digging out my pills again!!)

Sets the tone for my 2WW I guess!!

takethatlady · 24/07/2010 10:34

PMSL at brassica's furtive wine-swilling

We've got our own family thing tonight with my boozy dad, my insane religious-nutcase bus-driving usually-legless uncle and his (nice but very quiet) wife and their FIVE children, and my nan who last week fed me scrambled egg on toast and mouldy bread. I was too shy to tell her about the bread so I ate it. Then I told my dad. Now he's told her. Where's that supply of pink champagne brassica?

On the plus side I bought DH a guitar yesterday for our anniversary (it's been his dream for ages to learn guitar) and he looks bloody hot with it, even though he can only play two chords and he can't string either of them together. We also went to John Lewis and he headed straight for the baking section and kept picking up jelly moulds and star-shaped cookie cutters and saying he couldn't wait to have children because he could bake with them. We watched Sopranos later, just to man up again

corabear you got that positive test very early I seem to remember. You really are very pregnant! Keep us updated!

CuppaSoup · 24/07/2010 11:47

Oh gosh, you lot do make it all sound like fun - 5 months into trying for second and have already been accused of "bullying" husband into shagging! Perhaps we could turn that to our advantage with leather gimp masks/dominatrix role play? Would he be up for it? We'll have to see.
I start every month so upbeat - determined to stick to "the rules", but the mentalness just sets in at about day 14! I panic when my husband (and his willy) are out of my sight....what if he's going too far to be back on time to inseminate!? Aggggh! And he's only gone and bought some speedo-style pants - doesn't he KNOW they're the wrong pants for re-production?
Thank god for you peeps - how on earth do I throw my obsession with numbers and dates and pant-snot and cervixes out if the window! HOW???

JustKeepSwimming · 24/07/2010 15:57

Corabear - waiting to hear the scan news, lol

Brassica, you did make me laugh!!

Cuppa - welcome

Takethat - have fun tonight

I had plenty of booze last night, must only have a few glasses tonight to start wind down for 2ww i think.

( ov test showed positive today )

Down side is i've got bad spotting, which i do seem to get around OV time

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/07/2010 17:22

PMSL at your post CuppaSoup, welcome! It seems the best way to stop obssesing about pant snot and peeing on sticks is to get drunk, so have a cocktail and relax.

I cannot wait until next weekend when I'll either be able to POAS or drink lots of wine again.

PrettyVacant1 · 24/07/2010 18:50

Hi 'HeverybodyPeeps.

Welcome CuppaSoup You funny!

Well.
Pregnology wotsit pwomised me I could POAS on D25 (today) so I POAS yesterday
Negatory. [suprise]

It was DP's B'day on Thurs so we went out last night.
I awoke at 5.30 am this morning and thought it would be a good idea to PO(theother)S.
FMU and all that jazz.
Apart from first mornin peepee probably consisting mostly of Organic Cider and Desperados I also managed to miss most of the pissing stick anyway.
Negatory.

I feel slightly cheated tbh.
I even did the well known trick of holding it up to the light and after 10 mins of leaning forehead against the window no amount of willing made a line appear.
Fucksticks.
I'll be doing it again on Monday.
I'll be peeing in a pot and stiring it next time.

On the plus side a friend bought us him a keg of Desperados.
If I'm not updiffed I will be helping to drink that then!
I have no choice you understand, he's trashed reorganized our fridge so it's cold.
Food?
We don't need food.
We have beer.
We do need limes though.

baby2b · 24/07/2010 18:52

Hey ladies, need some advice! Im on cd17, but had lots of spotting and all my pmt sypmtoms, so thought my cycle was out and bfp isn't happening this month and just had wine fest for the past couple of weeks.

Anyway, as I hadn't been using ov sticks this month I starting obsessing about implantation bleeding everything and in my mentalness did a pregnancy test. I got a bfp! I then did another more expensive pregnancy test and got an immediate bfp on that too. It just doesn't seem possible. Can anything give you false readings? x

raspberrytipple · 24/07/2010 18:58

Hi baby2b,
I think a negative reading can sometimes be wrong but Ive always been led to believe that BFP is very very rarely wrong....... and if youve done it twice it looks like congratulations are in order!!! :-) big smiley faces x

JustKeepSwimming · 24/07/2010 20:28

baby2b - me is thinking you is pregnant

PrettyVacant - gutted but not best situation to test, diluting all that possible pg hormone with cider & beer

Well, am hoping i can persuade DH tonight then that'll be that i think and the joy of the 2ww can start...fun.

CD18 here.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/07/2010 21:01

Can you please all stop talking about all that lovely hangover inducing alcohol you are all knocking back with out a care. PUHlease!!! You're making me want to eat nasty chocolate biscuits.

(Sulks in the corner plotting the best way to get DH naked this evening...)

baby2b · 24/07/2010 21:12

I'm kind of freaking out. I have had cramping and lots of spotting, so going to test again in the morning and maybe go to the docs on Monday.

Nomore, a little of what you fancy does you good!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/07/2010 21:29

Yeah but I said I wasn't going to eat sugar or drink booze for all of July. As the sugar thing lasted 2 days I am sticking to my guns on the booze.

Mind you the thought did occur to me that bribes of choc bikkies could be the key to a naked DH in a bit... To bad we have none in the house, so will just have to use my femine wiles on him

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/07/2010 21:31

Some how submitted answer while still typing.

B2B hope you're just having naughty body messing with my head spotting and not there is something wrong spotting.

JustKeepSwimming · 25/07/2010 10:58

B2B - how are you this morning?

DH was too tired last night so must work harder tonight as all i can say is: AAAAACHOOOOOO!!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 25/07/2010 13:10

Would someone please slap me with a wet kipper? I only want oad tahi and chocolate because I made the mistake of going to the supermarket hungry. There is no other reason, it's too soon.

(assumes the ready to be slapped with a wet kipper pose, closes eye and dreams of pad thai and chocolate cake, mmm)

How is everyone today? Hungover and shagged out I hope.
