Well it's day 18 in the 2ww house...

What does everybody do to distract themselves on the 2ww?
This is my first month of CBFM so know when I ovulated (16)...how impatient am I!

What are the rules? do you treat yourselves as though you are up the duff already?, and abstain from wine, blue cheese, running up mountains???

I'm really confused as with my first 2 babies I did everything as normal, and all was fine...5 years down the line I'm TTC again, and managed to get a BFP in may, and was so excited, but was painting the whole house and I lost it at 6 weeks.

So what do you do?, can't wrap yourself up in cotton wool, but would hate this to happen again...

Any advise?

delilahbelle · 10/07/2010 19:03

Must admit I will have a glass of wine on the 2WW - but no more that one a night, and not every night.
Luckily don't like blue cheese, and I don't do vigorous exercise anyway
Saying that, when I got my postive last month I was convince it hadn't worked, and was drinking/partying/had my hair coloured/went on a sponsored walk - and I do wonder if that's why it didn't stick. Think I will be keeping things a bit more low key from now on.

Not strictly on the 2WW yet - still getting odd (OV?) pains but today to distract myself I replaced all the cords for the lights and fans in the bathroom/cloakroom. They are now new and clean and white.

takingtheplunge · 11/07/2010 08:36

period due today. still no sign. Buggered if I'm buying another 8 euro test tho. My cycles can be as long as about 35-36 days and only on day 32 now with a BFN on day 30, so no period not all that significant.

Seeing a friend on tues (will be cd34 then) who might give me her left over cheapie tests from when she was ttc (now pregnant) or if no AF by about wed will go to the chemist I last bought a test from (after an accident a few months ago) for "only" 5 euros.

delilahbelle · 11/07/2010 10:31

Right, am assuming I am def on the 2WW now. Lot's of creamy CM today and cervix is high and closed.
Testing 2 weeks tomorrow... if I can wait that long.

Prinpo · 11/07/2010 13:30

lig, I'm very careful on 2ww and basically act as though I'm pregnant, ie no alcohol or any of the other yummy things you're meant to avoid. It's a pain but at least it means when AF comes there's some small consolation in being able to have all the things I've denied myself.

delilah, how do you know that your cervix is high and closed? I could do with knowing because so far this month I haven't had any ov pain, which is my normal sure-fire way of knowing that I've ov'd.

gingerwench · 11/07/2010 13:45

AF arrived today.

ho hum.

delilahbelle · 11/07/2010 15:07

Prinpo - TMI, but I stick a finger up there and have a feel If you do it everyday in the shower, you soon get to know how it changes position.

gingerwench Sorry to hear that.

stuffedmk · 11/07/2010 15:13

RE 2WW, I will prob be really careful after losing the last pregnancy. I know it wasn't anything I did but little things only end up playing on your mind don't they

ravenlocks · 11/07/2010 15:34

Hi Ladies,

New to mumsnet and this thread but can I jump on the bus?

TTC #1 and am on 4th cycle after getting period on Friday. Altho maybe technically cycle 3 as first one was before first period off the pill. Had late mc wk 17 in Jan and got back on horse! Have just ordered the ovul sticks from eBay as cycles have been between 27 days and 35 days so no clue when ovulating. On CD3. Looking forward to hearing and sharing some good news soon.

DarciesmumandTTC2 · 11/07/2010 18:37

Hi,

No nothing to serious, I have fibromyalgia and sciatica - was just a flare up, just means I can't walk well or do anything else tbh

so roll on AF for this month and start SWI & SFF when it matters hehe

Prinpo · 11/07/2010 18:58

Thanks, delilah .

ginger, sorry to hear about AF. Hope the next bus is a lucky one.

Welcome, ravenlocks. So sorry to hear about your late mc . I can only imagine how dreadful that must have been. I hope you got all the right support and I'm glad that you're back in the saddle again. Here's to some good news soon.

DH away for a few days from tomorrow so I may accost him one last time tonight for good luck. Pretty sure I'm oving today (finally got ov pain).

Ladies, I'm going in... (well, after dinner and after the kids have gone to bed). Oh, the romance.

takingtheplunge · 11/07/2010 18:59

still no AF. CD 32 now I believe.

rosieroseanna · 11/07/2010 19:17

I got a smiley last Saturday so hubby and I had lots of action over the weekend and I just did a first response and got a BFN. So we'll start again next month!

ravenlocks · 11/07/2010 20:05

Thanks prinpo. Yep loads of support from DH, parents, friends, colleagues etc. We just planted a little tree to mark his 'would be' arrival last month. Onwards and upwards, eh!?

I'm actually in CD 21 as m period started on the 20th of June, I thought that I was now within testing time? Do you think it could have been a false negative?

Thanks! Although the test says it picks up from 6 days away and being on day 22, 29 days would be 6 days away. I;m totally confused!

Meh, my body has me totally confused. Ewcm yesterday afternoon and more ov pain, and dh flat down refused to swi last night or this morning. Will have to hope for the best and jump on him tonight.

takingtheplunge · 12/07/2010 09:46

stiiiiil nothing.

Prinpo · 12/07/2010 11:33

rosie, I think that early testing can cause all sorts of problems. If you look on the packet of tests like First Response then you can see that it is only sensitive enough 5 days before AF in something like 52% of cases. The chances of getting a false negative, therefore, are extremely high. The sensitivity obviously goes up the closer you get to AF date. Although tests are meant to be highly accurate on the day of your missed period, there seems to be plenty of anecdotal evidence that women get a lot of false negatives. With one of my pregnancies, I didn't get a positive for nearly 2 weeks after AF was due. I kept testing because nothing was happening and kept getting negatives but I was pregnant. I'm sure some of the false negatives can be put down to not using the test correctly but it's hardly rocket science to POAS so I do wonder whether they're as accurate as they claim.

Personally, I wait for AF.
