I can feel when I'm ovulating to the extent I can tell which side, no sticks required.

Karstan · 27/07/2010 11:41

Also know people who've ended up pregnant despite never getting a positive opk

caramellokoalalover · 27/07/2010 12:34

rosie i tried using opks for 2 cycles and never got a positive. was def ovulating as temps confirmed it. not sure if it was just dodgy ebay cheapies or if i missed the surge or what but i gave up as i felt like i was failing each time i poas. bad enough getting BFNs let alone negative OPKs as well! decided to stick with temps...a bit harder getting the timing right but now that i'm used to it i don't find it too bad. and the pretty FF charts and reassuring big red cross appeal to my anal organisational side .

bye 8duckies, even if you weren't thinking it was your month it sucks to have it confirmed by the arrival of AF. onward and upward into the next cycle though!

zinnia am admiring your resolve not to test. hopefully your birthday girl will distract you from the pull of the stick this afternoon.

zinnia · 27/07/2010 13:04

Thanks caramello (or is it caramel?) - keep telling myself I might as well flush a fiver straight down the loo as test before AF actually late (or 14 dpo, which more or less coincide tomorrow I think). Also some superstition at work here as got my BFP last time on evening of CD28.

Must. Hold. On.

OK, off to deliver birthday cake to nursery. That should keep me away from the bathroom for another half an hour.

Lib76 · 27/07/2010 13:27

Well done zinnia keep holding on! i am trying to hold on till thurs as i am off work and can take in the result whatever it is I am doing a pretty good job a telling myself i am pregnant today!! Two people have asked me today when i am having another!! mind your own f*ing business sprung to mind!! but of course i smiled sweetly and said yeh sometime soon!! ...ARGH!!

zinnia · 27/07/2010 14:37

Hang on in there lib, less than 48 hrs to go!

I sympathise about being asked, happened to me twice within an hour of AF turning up last time and it was a real sodding effort to be blase about it. Honestly, what do people expect you to say?? I went with "yes, I suppose I should start thinking about that at some point". As opposed to "funny you should mention that, I did think I was pregnant until half an hour ago".

I know they meant well, but...

ravenlocks · 27/07/2010 19:13

Hey bun, you and I are CD buddies. I have also not given in to early testing yet and don't plan to this month either. I will be testing on 14DPO which for me is Friday 6 August. I will be working away from home stuck in a hotel and am not taking any tests with me just in case I get tempted!

You know it's perfectly legal to stab people in the kneecaps with pencils if they ask that, Lib ?

Or maybe I am just wishing it is.

Hoorah, raven except I don't think for a minute I am going to get a + result this month - I guess we'll know one way or the other on Friday 6th, fingesr crossed!

Agreed that it's so much easier not to give in when you don't actually have the damn sticks sitting there in your bathroom, calling your name. Evil sticks.

Zidonie · 27/07/2010 22:52

Oh yes I get asked a lot too when I am going to give my DD a little brother or sister. I tend to reply "never, we'll buy her a cat when she's five." Often those people (even though I barely know some of them) start and tell me how much better it would be for DD not to be alone and blah blah blah... Shocking isn't it? That you're not "allowed" to have only one child?

LOL! i know and i will probably have some girl come in wanted a test today knowing my luck!!

strong vibes received!

Tamashii · 28/07/2010 08:47

Can you help me clarify a couple of things please? Even though we have been TTC for a while it's only over the last few months that I have been using OPK but now I have read through quite a few Conception threads on here, I know too much!

Anyway, how does it work... You get LH surge, SWI around that time then within 48 hrs after LH surge you OV??? So how does the basal temperature rise fit in with this bit? Does your temp stay up for a number of days after LH surge or does it rise then fall back down again fairly quickly? Also, what does the basal temp rise/fall signify? I have read other sites but for some reason just can't quite fathom the whole rise/fall in basal temperature...

Thanks

Good luck again and more BFP's asap!!!

zinnia · 28/07/2010 08:57

Morning ladies
so I tested today (14 dpo, I think) and got a BF sodding N. Of course.

Think I'm going to step off the bus for a while to wait for AF, then catch the May service when it comes by.

I may peer in the windows here from time to time to check how you're all getting on though. Good luck to everyone testing this week especially!

rosieposey · 28/07/2010 09:01

Loopymumsy nothing doing here, retested yesterday and this morning (twice) nothing doing, not a dickiebird Hoping AF will be here soon enough so i can get started on my CBFM - My cycles are so screwed anyway for the last couple of months, this is one of the longest cycles ever so im not surprised im not pg tbh as my cycles are all over the place... just waiting for AF now.

Lib76 · 28/07/2010 09:11

Awh zinnia and rosie that rubbish, but don't give up till AF is here! i am not feeling too hopeful today, feeling activing in my uterus and that usually AF is on her wicked way

LadyGoneGaga · 28/07/2010 09:12

Tamashii In a typical pattern your temp rises immediately after ovulation as a response to rising Progesterone. It should then stay highish for the rest of the cycle, rising further if pg and dropping when you get your period if not. But it wouldn't go up until after you'd ov'ed if that makes sense?

Zinnia sorry 'bout your BFN. Prolly catch you on the May bus

Well FF thinks I've ovved early, on the only day we SWI this month, so on 2WW now if true! Probably coincidentally it advises me to test on my birthday and if I did conceive my due date would be my late father's birthday (he died two years ago when I was 7 months PG with DS) - a sign?

rosieposey · 28/07/2010 09:15

Yeah ive got that too Lib, i get period pains before AF is actually here but i also get AF pains when i am pg too - its just that AF never comes. Absolutely certain that im not though as i have no symptoms (bar some AF pain) Gahhh! Never thought i would be wishing AF to hurry up.

Tamashii · 28/07/2010 09:27

LadyGoneGaGa Thanks for that clarification - just what I was looking for!

That would be amazing if you got BFP on your birthday! Also a nice tribute to your Father's memory if the due date was on his birthday. My mum died suddenly 3 years ago and I found out I was pregnant weeks later. It is difficult not to feel that it's a sign I suppose!

LadyGoneGaga · 28/07/2010 09:48

Yeah but rubbish if BFN! Gonna have to do it though if no AF - just to see if I can have a nice big birthday drinkie or not! I sort of feel like I should "know" second time round before testing. I know I felt really odd first time - knackered and went off booze with huge boobs from about a week before AF due but put it down to my dodgy thyroid as wasn't trying. But doesn't stop me convincing myself I could be every month when blatantly not!

Mylittlebubble · 28/07/2010 11:06

Morning Ladies
LIb I admire your will power. I think I would be doing them everyday of i had a cupboard full.
rosieposey I am the same, infact in my last pregnancy I announced to DH we hadn't done it that month as I had every sign that AF was gonna arrive the next day. The next day something made me do a test and it was a BFP!!

We have done lots of SWI this cycle, every other day so hopefully this month is it. I said to DH this morning we'd get 10/10 for trying anyway . Not sure when to stop might keep going till AF sings!!

We are going on holiday with friends on the 7th August AF due 9th. Do I test before we go or wait till after the holiday??

Lib76 · 28/07/2010 11:14

mylittlebubble not quite sure why i am holding out, usually by this stage i have done about 5 or more! I had some spotting at the weekend so im really hoping it was implantaion bleeding and not mother nature playing funny buggers! [laugh]

I would test before hols so at least you know, or take tests with you?
