Hi Boba - really please it went well last night. You are brave, the bruise bit still scared me!

Try not to worry just yet about your cycle. My cycle is only 28 days and in cycle one I got peak on day 17-18 so Fc for you.

I still have highs too on day 22. I feel bit stupid writing this but I must admit I have got my hopes up this month. Usually I am more realistic but know i will be really upset if AF arrives next week. I keep thinking I have symptoms but maybe its just in my mind!

Well I am off to work now, seeing clients at their home so lazy start rather than 7am commute!

x

boba82 · 26/05/2010 10:04

vnewmummy I will keep FX for you too. We need another BFP to cheer us up.

OP posts:
Lychees · 26/05/2010 11:43

Back from the DRs and day 5 bloods were all normal, however day 21 bloods showed that I had not ovulated but I got my peaks on CD18 and CD19 so DR and I think that I had my bloods taken too early. So I am back to the hospital for 25 day bloods this cycle to see if this theory is right. My DR said that because of my age, she would then refer me to the fertility clinic [I forgot to ask how long the waiting list was but will check next time].

Although, I told her that I was taking multi-vits specifically for conception, she told me to take zinc supplements and look into acupuncture as lots of her pregnant patients swore that both these helped them get there BFPs. Lets hope that's the case, Boba. Perhaps, I shall give it a go [needles have never really bothered me] but how do you go about finding a genuine, reputable practitioner?

On another note, Boba it's quite normal for me to get my peaks on CD18/19 so no peaks at CD16 doesn't necessarily mean you're in for a long cycle again. Hope you get your peaks soon.

vnewmummy, sending you much luck for this cycle.

Morning everyone else!

boba82 · 26/05/2010 14:29

That sounds quire promising then Lychees. I just googled acupuncture in my area and spent a couple of hours researching their websites until I found a good one. I think go for a well established place with good customer testimonials etc and registered with acupuncture society.

Thanks for peaks info also and to you too vnewmummy

OP posts:
Keziahhopes · 26/05/2010 21:12

Lychees - I was told at the fertility clinic that although it is known as a day 21 test, actually it isn't - it is just that most people's cycles are 28 days long and it assumes therefore that people peak at day 14 - it should be tested 7 days post ovulation... so if that is day 25 for you it sounds right.

I go to see fertility dr in 3 weeks now, to look at tests and probably have a hsg ordered too.

Hope everyone has lovely bank holiday.

Afternoon All,

Not much activity going on here. Hope everyone is well today.

Keziah, thanks for explaining the 21 day bloods. Only wish I had pushed it with the first DR I saw [I did tell him I had cycles averaging 32 days]. Now, I have to wait a few weeks before going for tests again then a couple of weeks for results before any chance of referral.

On a more positive note, DH got his SA results today and everything was normal, thankfully.

Forgot to mention but when I saw my DR, she mentioned that I would not be eligible for funding should I need fertility treatment as I have DS. I completely understand given how stretched our NHS is but I really, really hope it does not come to that. I don't really want to accept that DS might be an only child because we cannot afford any treatment.

Keziahhopes · 27/05/2010 22:58

Hi Lychees - worth waiting for bloods as you will find that all fertility dr will do first time is ask questions and do bloods if not done - with another wait then till that dr can see you (I am doing 3mths inbetween 1st and 2nd time). The other basic tests can all be ordered and done by Gp to save you time - I needed clamydia test, in date smear (in last 6mths) - so had 2 together.

Yes, sadly funding is only for up to 3 cycles of IVF if needed and then only if you right age and have no children. My area only funds 1 or 2 cycles from what I have heard.

But there is lots that can be done to boost chances of conception before "funding" is an issue - such as internal scans to check you are healthy, check ovulation, unblock fallopian tubes if needed etc.

Keziahhopes · 27/05/2010 22:59

Ooh - forgot to say, my chest infection spread to sinus, so another 7 days on nasty antibiotics, so no sunshine and no ttc#1 for me.

vnewmummy, good luck. We need some more BFPs here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Attenborough · 29/05/2010 10:24

Hello all, and good luck - I'm wondering if any of you can help with my question. I came off depo provera about six months ago so am hoping that my periods will return soon so we can start TTCing. At the moment, I'm finding it very hard not to know where I am, though a brief spell of painful boobs a fortnight ago gave me hope that my hormones might be kicking back into a cycle.

If I bought a CBFM, would the results indicate whether I was getting to the point where the depo was almost gone and ovulation might be about to start again?

justshaggy · 29/05/2010 14:35

Attenborough welcome. The CBFM measures your LH surge just before ovulation. It's a useful 'heads-up' and I think a worthwhile purchase once your cycle is back. I don't think it will really tell you much about your body settling in in the lead-up to that though. Have you thought about charting your temps instead? Try www.fertilityfriend.com/

vnewmummy Good luck!

Keziah sounds like you're having a terrible time. Take good care of yourself and get well soon. x

Lychees Wish I could see your GP, she sounds great. We saw ours and asked to be referred to a fertility clinic and he's going to try but didn't seem hopeful that they would accept us ... and I'm 39. I could scream with the frustration.

peawee · 30/05/2010 04:08

HELP need advice from someone. I'm on holiday in USA and using my Clear Blue monitor...can't call the helpline on the booklet as only open Mon to Fri and also am staying with friends so reluctant to ask them if I can call England using their phone, also would not have any privavcy if I did call as am surrouded by people.

So....yesterday did a test stick as usual pee-ed on it then stuck it in test slot, put it down, but...then forgot to remove test stick from slot, so...come this morning, due to do another test stick, reach for Clear blue monitor and realise test stick from yesterday is still in there.....I then turned it on and it indicated I should pull it out, I pull it out then it displays the little Brush symbol. The booklet says this means it needs to be cleaned with damp cotton wool.
I give it a clean and turn it on again; brush symbol STILL showing, give it another clean, same thing happens again and over and over. Am a bit panicky as my window for testing is running out (I am dealing with a time differnce due to travelling to USA so my test window at the mo is 1:30am to 6:30 am! So am setting alarm and pee-ing at 6am each morning) Anyway it continues to display the brush sign. I am unable to do a test as the brush sign won't go. I give up and later today I turned it on to have a look and it displayed two bars; no longer displays the brush sign.
But my concern is that come 6am tomorrow it'll be back to showing the brush sign and, if it is, what the hell can I do about it?
It makes no mention in the booklet about what to do if the brush sign won't go even after a thorough clean. Or what to do if you leave your test stick in too long. HELPP!!! Want to try to conceive on this trip, and am very old lady so haven't got all the time in the world LOL.
Is there a helpline number in the States? Does anyone have experience of this happening and how to solve it?
Thank you!! Will prob go to sleep now but check back tomorrow when I wake as it's 11:06pm here now

Lychees · 30/05/2010 08:13

I'm not sure, hun. It's never happened to me before but here's the helpline number for the US. It's only open 8.30am to 5pm eastern time on Monday - Fridays though.

1-800-321-EASY (3279)

Perhaps, one of the other ladies on here knows.

I would think that the brush symbol won't come on again. I wouldn't panic. I forgot that I might need to test this am and had a wee first thing then switched on my monitor and it asked for a stick :s.

Good luck that this is your month.

peawee In your shoes, I would hope that the brush symbol had gone now - if it's clean it's clean. But I think i'd also go out and buy some ovulation predictor tests and use those as a back up if I possibly good. How regular is your cycle, do you know when you usually ovulated? Regardless, I think you should BD every second day just in case. The old fashioned non high tech method is still the best guarenteed way of getting sperm to egg at the right time . Possibly not easy when staying with people... Good luck!

BabyHoping · 31/05/2010 10:12

Hi everyone, good morning!

I started using conceive plus and maybe this is a dummy question but I´m not really sure how I should use it... It does not come with an applicator and its really liquid so its even harder to put on fingers and try to put it inside (TMI). Yesterday I used it on DH but, even though, you can not put much as it dripples all over the bed. If anyone has used it and has some advice it will be appreciated... ;)

Boba i was planning on going for acumpuncture this past saturday but I´ve not been very well (my belly hurts a lot, maybe intestines, doctor gave me some medicine and I´m waiting to see if it goes away) so I just postponed it. How are you feeling with it?

boba82 · 31/05/2010 10:35

Morning everyone, how are you?

baby I feel normal and it seems to have really helped my sinuses already. Next appt tomorrow and I'll be having weekly for 3 cycles.

I'm still on highs so don't think I've ovulated again. If AF doesn't turn up then I am going to reset around CD32 so it'll hopefully catch the days I do ovulate. Just been for my day 21 blood test and have routine smear tomorrow yuck!

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend?

Hi there,
I have a question about CBFM...do you have to switch it on every day in order for it to tell you when to do a test?
Am using it for the first time this month and am on day 6 of cycle but the monitor didn't expect a test this morning when I switched it on..
puzzled...

Hi camperli, you would normally need to switch it on every day to see whether you need to poas. However, for the first cycle, it should start asking for you to test from CD6. Once it has learned your cycle it will ask you to start to poas later; for instance, I have a longer than average cycle so I always start on CD9.

Is it a second hand CBFM? If so, it may have not been reset and may have retained cycle info from the previous user. It tells you on the back page of the instructions how to reset it.

Morning everyone, how are we all doing? I'm on CD11 and getting lows still as expected.

Boba, try not to worry [I know its easier said than done]. Your 21 day bloods should shed some light on what's happening.

boba82 · 01/06/2010 10:14

Thanks lychees not really worrying too much just dreading another long cycle as I have my mum's wedding later on this month and I really don't want to be as bloated as I was last time or people will think I'm pregnant!

Was just reading back & that's great that your DH's results were normal. Must be a relief for you? How long now until your results are back?

OP posts:
Lychees · 01/06/2010 13:11

Hi Boba, I had my results already and 5 day bloods were fine but my 21 day bloods showed that I had not ovulated. I think that they were done too early though because I had a 34 day cycle [and peaked on CD18 and 19] and I have to have them done again this month on CD25 this time.

Was yesterday the 1st time you had your 21 day bloods taken?
