Ok, my reason for clomid. Since a m/c Oct 2001, I havent conceived. My periods are v. irregular, anything from 5 to 8 weeks so pinpointing ovulation was pretty tricky. My consultant suspected I wasnt ovulating at all and I was prescribed clomid (50 mg) to start on day 2 and continue for 5 days. The clomid was prescribed to kickstart my system into ovulating regularly. Side effects - generally feeling crap, headaches, depressed mood, dizziness and nausea. These all passed once I stopped taking the clomid on day 7. I used an ovulation predictor kit to see if the clomid had worked and according to this I do seem to have a surge in the luteinizing hormone. Hopefully this means the clomid worked and I am ovulating now.

Sorry I cant give you further info, as I said, my experience is limited.

Good luck with it Twiglett. As I said, the side effects only lasted a few days and, if it results in me conceiving, then definately worth the discomfort. I have ovulation pains today so fingers crossed.

I've had Clomid in the past although I do ovulate but have sort of unexplained infertility (possibly due to endometrios + 1 missing tube).

We're currently having iui fertility treatment and I have used Clomid some months (but not every time) to try to improve our chances. I think the idea is to get me to produce more than 1 egg.

50mg for 5 days didn't do much - 1 egg, but I was doing that any way. 100mg increased it to 2 eggs, but I haven't carried on with it because we're worried about having twins.

I haven't had any serious side effects. Just a slight dehydrated feeling - thirsty and a bit headachey and just a bit odd feeling, but nothing major.

I forgot the dehydration Jan,e me too, I drank gallons of water for those few days.

I took Clomid twice - both successfully with single births. Both times for PCOS
(polycystic ovaries syndrome) symptom of irregular/absent periods so was unable to predict
any ovulation. First time took for 6 months (maximum time allowed) and second time
just the one cycle. Both times remember taking series of 5 tablets over 5 days
(day 3-8 of menstrual cycle).

Don't recall any physical side-effects, but remember rather extreme mood-swings; hard to
pin down to the Clomid factor given the extra stress of trying to get pg for some time,
but suspected this more 2nd time around when I was more relaxed about conceiving
knowing it worked for me already.

Hi, now in middle of second Clomid cycle and one thing I have noticed during both clomid-induced ovulations I get very weepy and tense, like bad PMT. I had it last month aroud day 15 and again today. Lets hope it is worth it.

I took Clomid in one of my many assisted conception attempts. 100 mg a day for about a week. I have regular cycles and ovulate normally but the clomid was an attempt to get more than one egg. I still only produced one, but that's not normal - I don't respond to any of the drugs in a "normal" way". The only side effect I experienced was a very thin lining - much less than I usually achieved without drugs. This is apparently not unusual. Lots of women have thinner linings with clomid, which of course reduces the likelihood of conception. Didn't work for me, but I hope it does for you! Good luck.

Hi Twiglett, I'm due to start clomid when AF arrives this month. Yes, you should ov much earlier. You should ov 3-5 ( i think) days after the last clomid pill you take. I don't know esactly when you take yours, but my consultant has said to take 5 tablets, 50mg, starting on day 2, finishing on day 6 of cycle. In theory should make whole cycle shorter. About 25 days.

Certainly will keep my fingers crossed for you twiglett - not legs though No reaction to drug at all. was just being a bit paranoid i think! My cons didnt tell me when i should ov actually. when r u expecting to? is it 5 days after last pill?

Right - read what one doc said: "ovulation usually occurs five to nine days after the last dose of Clomid." And another doc recommended that you start testing with opks four days after last pill, as LH levels aren't to be trusted immediately, as you may have a high LH than normal due to lack of natural ovulation and testing immediately after last pill may give you a false negative. Hope this makes sense. I am going to test 4 days after last pill i think.. IF i can wait that long!

My first post ever here....I took Clomid, in combination with IUI and one injection of (ashamed to admit) can't remember quite what. The three together produced my DD who's now 15 months. Next month we're going back to have a go for number 2. Kind of dreading going back onto the whole production line of fertility treatment but needs must I guess.

Good luck fellow Clomid takers. I am nearing day 28 and am so tempted to test. Will wait till the weekend though, it's nice to hang on to the possibility for a few more days rather than be disappointed now. Cripes, that isnt the right attitude is it?

Hi, I really hope you can help me here. I'm not taking Clomid so know little about it, but a lovely, lovely friend of mine is having a heartbreaking time dealing with infertility. She's had tests and is apparently ovulating, but she has never conceived in years of trying. She is on a waiting list for IVF, but recently went to a private dr who prescribed Clomid - her own dr refuses. She conceived but very, very sadly had an early m/c (6 weeks). Should she try again? I would say yes, but I don't know much about possible problems. Any thoughts I can pass on welcome.

Hi Twiglett, not sure about cycle lengths as I think all women do vary. My cycle, before clomid, was anything up to 8 weeks. On clomid, it was reduced to a very average 30 days. This is only my second cycle so I am not sure but am probably on in a couple of days. I was led to believe clomid would spark off ovulation up to 9 days after the last tablet (so, In amy case, day 14/15) and then AF would follow 14 days after that, but it is not a precise science so we all differ a little. Cant be more help I'm afraid.
