TTC after a Miscarriage - Keep Trying!!!!

Well ladies, its about time we had a new thread, the old one is getting very long. Plus I think we need another fresh start, with lots of positive babydust:

.,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'- .,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,' .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,' .,'-.,'-.,'-',.

Get a big handful girls, i think we all need it.
I was trying to think of something great and positive to put, but this TTC lark is getting us all down, i'm fed up of trying, but we will all succeed eventually, our times will come.

It will be much better for our little ones to have a good start when our bodies are truly ready to carry them.

maddyd · 22/08/2005 09:52

Good actually thankyou for asking. Can control the pain with my diet which is healthy, but then an odd thing like a cup of tea will set it off.

Looking forard to trying again, thats for sure. I cant believe how long its dragging out now. Mind you, you know that feeling. Its gets very dishearteneing doesnt it

cori · 22/08/2005 09:56

I havent tested yet. I am trying to hold off as long as I can as I am not really feeling very positive anymore.
I have had few symptoms, but probably just premenstual signs. Might test later.

sunnyside · 22/08/2005 09:57

hello ladies I have been lurking since 21 July (m/c) and was determined not to be thinking of ttc for a few months but I can't stop thinking about it. Do people just get straight back on with it or is there a set wait time?

Have you all been ttc for a long time? You all seem v knowledgeable and the acronyms are just something else!

cori · 22/08/2005 10:12

Hi Sunnyside,
Welcome to our thread. Sorry to hear about your M/C
I think most of us here have had miscarriages this year. Some of us multiple ones at various stages. I think it is quite natural to want to try again quite quickly. I had my miscarriage at the end of April. I waited for two cycles to pass before trying again. I was told by my acupuncturist that I should wait until I had a normal period.
I have been trying again for two months. (seems like longer). I think the general advice is to wait for one period to pass before trying again. I have read( dont know how reliable the source is) that there is a slightly higher risk of M/C if you get pregnant straight away.

peepee · 22/08/2005 10:20

Hellkat,

I was really pleased to hear from you. A lovely surprise.

So sorry u are having a crappy time at the moment. AF does get us down sometimes. After my last m/c in April A/F was all over the place. There were 14 days between periods. I was really down. It's no fun. I would go and see your doctor or go to casualty if the bleeding continues for so long. How long have you been bleeding for now? There were lots of clots in mine too, until my last period. I had to stop with tampax and move onto towels.
I really hope it sorts itself out.
Relax as you said you would and take it nice and easy.
Thanks for popping over to say hi!
Take care......
Hugs

welcome sunnyside - I think it depends on you and how you feel, as to when you try again. It also depends on your circumstances and your doctor, they all give different advice. I m/c at the end of Jan 05 and tried again straight away, and was pg before my first period. That pregnancy (pg) also ended in m/c at the beginning of April. So this time we waited and we stil are waiting, it will have been 5 months next week or trying.
Doesn't sound like a long time but feels like a lifetime.
Very sorry to hear about your m/c, hope you're holding up ok. How far along were you, and did you m/c (miscarry) naturally or have a d&c?

sunnyside - we have a stats thread where you can leave a bit of info about yourself, please feel free to fill us in, the link is below.

ttc after m/c stats

OP posts:
strike1 · 22/08/2005 10:50

Hi all. Welcome Sunnyside, so sorry to hear of your m/c. I know that feeling of really wanting to get pg again, don't worry it'll happen and here there's loads of support and laughs to be had in the process.

Had a fab weekend, went out to a Salsa club with the girls on Saturday night and had a great time! Came home and good old dh was up for a weekend of bding so hopefully we can catch the right time this month I feel much more relaxed about it all....so far, but when it gets to testing stage I'm sure I'll go mental again. You seem much more relaxed this time diddle, I hope I can be the same. The way I see it, there's know use getting to worked up, cause it doesn't help.....I'll keep repeating that to myself the closer I get to testing time

Diddle · 22/08/2005 10:53

strike1 - glad you had such a good weekend, you lucky thing. Yes not sure why i'm more relaxed, could have something to do with the fact that i haven't had a spare second to even think about ttc, I have been busy from the time i get up to the time i go the bed, and even then i read my book. I used to have time to sit and watch tv, but not anymore.

Keeping busy works.

Added my stats, I sound like a proper sicknote! I'm not, since my miracle DS arrived have been as strong as an ox . Unfortunately I have obviously been eating like an ox too and have been piling on the pounds! Need to get a grip if I'm to have a chance of PG I think.

Good luck to all of you and thanks for welcoming me.

Mojomummy · 22/08/2005 11:43

Hi Sunnyside - sorry to hear hear your story. I know how you feel as I just miscarried last week & had an ERCP last Tuesday.

I was told 2 different things in the hospital, so have been seaching for info. I rang the miscarriage association & asked their advice. They said whenever you are ready - if your body can ovulate, you can make a baby.

Have been to the health food shop & stocked up on Agnus Castus ( recommended on here), selenium (for me & hubby), zinc, because apparently when you have a miscarriage you lose a lot of zinc ( for both of us - helps make good sperm)& of course pregnacare. Not sure if it will help, but better to have tried. Also looking out for a good supply of royal jelly/propolis/bee pollen.

sunnyside · 22/08/2005 12:42

Mojo so sorry to hear about your trouble but you sound really positive. I should probably follow your lead and head for health food shop. Good luck!

Did miscarriage association have any good advice?

Diddle · 22/08/2005 12:57

Bit down today, started having a few achy feelins in my abdomen, think AF must be getting ready to appear.
I have also popped the buttons on two pairs of trousers, i'm getting a bit podgy, must do more exercise and eat less biscuits. But i can't avoid them.
My belly seems to be sticking forward since i was pg, and putting more pressure on my trouser buttons. So i have resorted to wearing my maternity trousers that i never got to wear when i was pg. They came the day after i m/c.

cori · 22/08/2005 13:39

Well did a test, BFN.
A/F isnt due til Thursday so there is still some hope.
Diddle, sorry your not feeling too good today.
Reading through some other posts, I didnt realise you had been trying for 5 months. It is so disheartening isnt it? Especially when you got pregnant so quickly in the past. DS only took two months.

Diddle · 22/08/2005 13:59

yes it is disheartening Cori - sorry about yor BFN, you're right though, there is still hope.

Am hopeful at the moment that things might finally be looking up.

I was talking to the mum of one of ds's nursery friends on Saturday at a birthday party. I don't know her that well, but she happens to be a GP (though not in my area) - I knew here dh was, but didn't realise that she was too. She asked if we had/were planning any more, and I said I'd love too but it didn't look like it was going to happen. She was really shocked at us still being refused a referral or even any investigations after trying for so long (just ds to show for it, and it's almost 9 years since we started trying), so I'd hope it's a good sign that the new GP's (where I have an "interview" tomorrow) may feel the same and be a bit more helpful.

And finally seem to be getting a cycle where temp chart/OPK/ferning test/CM all agree with each other, and DH in co-operative mood at the right time too, so even if nothing happens this month at least things seem to be improving slightly on that front.

Lottielou · 22/08/2005 14:11

Good Afternoon Ladies!
How are you all today?
Diddle - Sorry your feeling a bit down huni! Try thinking of chickens wearing little scarfs n bobble hats eating ice creams in a hot tub! Oh dear.... I'm back!!! Hee Hee!
Having a crappy day at work, so tired!
My AF is all over the place, i dont know where i'm at anymore. Last month my cycle was 34 days, the month before was 45, i'm now on CD 28, havent' had any sign of AF comin but it could be another 2 weeks yet! My body is all over the shop! Arghhhhhh
xx

Lottielou · 22/08/2005 14:12

Cori - Sorry bout your BFN hun x

Xena · 22/08/2005 14:25

Hey Lottielou how you doing? I'm despretly trying to lose abit of weight and get abit fitter, joined the gym and trying to swim 20 lengths aday (only managed 10 aday in the last 3 days though)

Diddle · 22/08/2005 15:11

lunarsea - sounds positive, i hope all goes well tomorrow for you, please let us know how you get on, you'll be in my thoughts.

Xena - good to see you on here again, hope you're doing ok.

Lottielou - glad your back, you made me grin. Thanks matey. Hope they're not working you too hard, You're not tired with another hangover and late night are you
Sounds like AF is messing you around a lot. Mine was 42 days last month, my hopes were so high. I hope she appears on time this month, the wait is horrible isn't it.
Maybe all the stress you're going through is causing it to be so irregular, they do say it can effect it.
You need a holiday.

OP posts:
maddyd · 22/08/2005 19:12

Holiday??? whos offering. Im in deperate need. Dp says we can go abroad last min at begining of school hols but i said no. Weve just cleared all our credit cards and i dont want them getting again. We will spend a fortune on day trips instead. Went to Hayling Island yesterday and we had the best day. The toddlers loved the sea especially ds. he stripped offf and was straight in there. he then continued to strak across the beach shouting hiya to all and sundry. Bless him, he does make us laugh.

(thing is, i felt guilty as he had no clothes on, where have the days gone when it was perfectly innocent for there to be naked kids on the beach)

Good Luck Lunar, i do so hope you get refferred. Fingers crossed xxxxxxx At least you have movement on that front which is good.

maddyd · 22/08/2005 19:14

streak

Mojomummy · 22/08/2005 19:39

Hi Sunnyside, yes miscarriage association were excellent. Spoke to a nice kind lady, not at all patronising & had a little cry to her. I kept asking the same question in different ways & she was very patient.

I was/am wondering if it was to do with stress as in my 5th week I was very stressed, I could feel it buzzing around my body & I read somewhere that it can just be too much....she said maybe, you never know...age of course is the other thing - I'm 36.5.

I'm feeling positive because there is hope (I think) for another pregnancy & if not I've got a lovely DH & DD - I read some stories & I thank my lucky stars

HumphreysCorner · 22/08/2005 20:21

Evening ladies

IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS BEFORE STICK TESTS I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD EXCITED WITH MY PERIOD BEING LATE BUT AS ALL TESTS ARE BFN I'M PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until tomorrow girls-good night.
