Hi

I'm thinking about having another child - I have one 2.5 year old already and I'm now 41!

What was your age when you had your latest child?

Juggling the idea of going or not going for it!

If it helps, I only decided to try to have a family on my 40th birthday, and now have a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old and would wish anyone in your situation all the luck in the world. I am now 45. My approach was to try to go with the flow and not get too worked up about it (but this much easier with the second than the first, of course). I had a blighted embryo inbetween 1 and 2, and an MC at 7 weeks last year but still live in hope of #3!!! so good luck and best wishes to all TTCers out there(especially the older and wiser ones)!

My mother had her first child at 40, her second at 42 and her third at 44. All conceived naturally. She married at 39, and didn't expect to be able to have children, due to her age.

Leese69 · 03/03/2011 21:34

Was 40 when I had mine, am pregnant again now 42! All happened naturally at 39 yrs after having tubes cleared out with an unsuccessful attempt at IVF! Had never managed to fall pg before so threw myself into my career! Bizarre! Good luck xxx

busyboysmum · 03/03/2011 21:58

Hiya - I am 41 and we are TTC number 3, seems a lot harder though this time as we have been trying on and off for a year with no luck.

spiralqueen · 03/03/2011 22:14

Had DD at 44.10, completely natural and unexpected. Very easy pregnancy but sadly 3 yrs on am going through menopause so no second DC for me.

Good luck but don't leave it too late - my friend's gynae said I was extremely lucky to conceive naturally at that age.

tallulah · 03/03/2011 22:24

Had my youngest at 43y10m.

Had 2 mmc immediately before her but conceived all 3 times pretty instantly.

shmoz · 03/03/2011 22:32

Had my DS at 40.3, got pregnant 2 weeks after having my mirena coil taken out Shock

zjc37 · 15/06/2011 19:02

Sillyshell · 16/06/2011 10:55

Hi, I was a month past mt 40th birthday when I had my 4th.(Got pregnant after 3 months trying) I would say i have stuggled a lot more this time with the lack of sleeping and breast feeding though. Coming up to first birthday and now 41 knackered but happy! xx

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 19/06/2011 20:51

I was 41 when I had my youngest (17 when I had my 1st with 3 inbetween). Best thing I could ever have done even though I felt old when I had my 4th at 31 and never expected to have any more. I love my big family and regret not having no. 6 but DH wouldn't agree and now at nearly 47 realise it's far too late.
Good luck with your decision.

JoannieJones · 20/06/2011 09:45

Had my first at 37 with no problems at all but when we tried for second at 41 conceived straight away 4 times but all ended in "blighted ovum" miscarriages. Decided to stop trying then. Saying that, I have plenty of friends who have had (usually unplanned!) natural pregnancies at 43, 45, and even 47, so it depends hugely on the individual.

JoannieJones · 20/06/2011 15:40

Go for it!

LiviaBC · 10/02/2017 16:50

I'll be 45 when this surprise visitation from the stork drops in.

Ohbuggermebugger · 10/02/2017 17:06

First DD at 42, now 21 months old.

Second DD at 43, now 4 months old.

Blessed with two healthy, beautiful babies.

This thread is making me think about having another! Woohoo to all us older mums! :)

user1471496670 · 10/02/2017 18:49

Gives me lots of hope this thread! I'm almost 39 and we are ttc our first. Really worried about my age and on Cycle 4 but just goes to show I could have a few years yet to try Smile

Boogalu45 · 12/03/2017 17:42

I'm 45 and having my first naturally in 10 days!!
Also doing it on my own.

Oldschool41 · 12/03/2017 18:55

ittooshallpass · 12/03/2017 19:52

Had my DD naturally at 42 😀

GreedyDuck · 12/03/2017 20:19

40 for my first, and if this pregnancy progresses I'll be 43 when he/she is born. Mcs at 39 and 42 as well though.

Alibaba2 · 13/03/2017 10:34

I'm ttc#3 age 41. My other kids are 5 and 7.

PhoenixMama · 15/03/2017 09:12

This is so reassuring! I had DD (now 7) at 34 and am about to start ttc on my own for dc2 at 42. Nervous but hopeful.

Oldschool41 · 15/03/2017 09:19

I feel more at ease knowing I'm not the only broody 41 year old out there ha ha. I am going to start testing my ovulation days from the 21st. Excited but nervous. 😬
