I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

empty sorry to hear about the temp drop

8 I'm liking your style Glamping sounds good to me!
My acupuncture lady suggested ylang ylang for errr.... helping you be bothered enough to pretend to be sexy!

choccie I'm not sure you've O'd yet either...
TCOYF is trying to confuse me in a similar way - if I tell it to discard disturbed temps it says I haven't O'd, if I don't discard it reckons I O'd on CD18. FF thinks I O'd on CD15 and my CBFM says I peaked on CD11&12 Oh well, we'll just have wait & see!

ifatfirst yay! was the TTA self imposed? - hope you're all stocked up on wee sticks?!

chocciechip · 08/07/2010 22:43

Thanks for the feedback bessie and silver.

I'm so confused. What do I do next assuming I might not have ovulated? Is there any chance I might still? How would I know.....?? I don't think my CBFM will pick up two LH surges and charting is now not working for me in the predicve sense (uncharted waters and all that). Do I turn to OPKs and EWCM to guide me? To top it all, I have now run out of EWCM so I think my fertile period is over.

I've just updated my page to overlay by ovulation day and coverline which makes things look slightly better but still confusing.

silver I've tried checking CP before but just can't get the hang of it at all. I'm pretty sure though that on CD 14 my cervix was soft and open. I only know because I have to check mucous at my cervix. I can't get a feel for (LOL) softness and height from day to day ... but the openness becomes quite obvious. But surely only a temp shift will indicate proper ovulation. aaaaaargh!

bessie I can't see your TCOYF chart but had a look at the one on FF. I am very of your EWCM (), but I'm sure you'd prefer it happening before the CBFM peaks rather than after! Is that why FF is confuzzed with yours.... conflicting signs? I'm not sure from your chart if you've ov'd either because of those conflicts. If your CD14 and 15 were up, I'd be inclined to go with CD12, but they aren't..... I'll dip into my TCOYF book tomorrow and have another think.

Danilou22 · 08/07/2010 23:30

Still no AF for me if it wasn't for my chart I would be testing I feel a bit pants about it all! on CD 43 now!

Danilou22 · 10/07/2010 09:45

CD day 45 now and still no AF, should I test?

I hope I do not have to wait another 5months for a period like I did when I stopped the pill!

I hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the sunshine.

Does eveyone's temp go up when it is hot? Mine seems to be quite low.

LittleSilver · 10/07/2010 13:11

Danilou, I know you said your temps have been low, but have you had a definite biphasic shift at any point? If you have then yes, I would test.

OP posts:
LittleSilver · 10/07/2010 13:12

Choccie, I would say it took me a good 2 months to be confident with assessing my cervix, but it was well worth it as it enabled me to spot ovulation when it happened 9 days earlier than expected the cycle I got pregnant.

OP posts:
Danilou22 · 10/07/2010 14:05

From my chart (see below) it looks very much like an anovulatory cycle

Does snoring affect your temps? Just a question as I know that I do!

www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2e3054

chocciechip · 10/07/2010 18:07

danilou I had another look at your chart and it looks to me that it might be annovulatory - but I dont have experience of very long cycles, so don't know whether you might ovulate even now before your AF.

My BBT doesn't seem affected by outside temp, weirdly. I took my temp at 5.30 am when I woke up roasting and needing the loo - this is a full hour earlier than I normally would, but since its a Saturday I thought I'd sleep in for three hours and take it again at 8.30. I woke up cool because it had started raining, and absoltuely no change in my BBT. It is odd.

silver will have to give it a concerted effort.

rubberduckies Glamping sounds fab!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed Enjoy the arrival of AF withhall your heart because when the obsessing starts, you wont be enjoying here arrival ever again (but lets hope she stays away from the very beginning ).

bessie your temps look like they are staying up but so wierd the way they aren't correlating with CBFM ... I wonder what that means? Mine are staying up too and I think I did ovulate now (although a couple more days high would be good). But I decided to manually set my Ov day to CD14 isntead of CD13 which FF was picking for me. I have no hope for this month anyway ... so it doesn;t really matter.

LittleSilver · 10/07/2010 18:45

*Danilou, just had a peek, I'm sorry I think it's annovulatory too . BUT, no reason why you shouldn't ovulate, just very very late. Are your pre-ov temps normally that low, do they correlate with previous cycles?

OP posts:
Danilou22 · 11/07/2010 00:03

Hi,

I have only charted for one month before this one and yes they were that low last month.

I am off for a scan on tuesday so maybe that will shed some light on the matter.

theteasonme · 11/07/2010 07:15

Dani don't give up all hope - I have really irregular cycles, some of which can be 60ish days long but I still ovulate so keep checking for the signs x

Danilou22 · 11/07/2010 09:44

Thanks theteasonme!

I did test this morning and as expected it was a BFN, not suprised so not too just frustrated really.

I will keep checking.

Does anyone check their temps (blush) using another method ...?

I have just experimented and in my mouth the reading was 36.29 and the other place its 36.87 I know it is not first thing but should it be that different and if so what am I better off doing?

Any thoughts welcome, I am sure this debate has been aired before so I am sorry for the repeat.

beachtent · 11/07/2010 12:37

Hi all, just want to jump in and join your gang if I may? Recently noticed that my periods are all over the place (ranging from 17 to 30 day cycles). I have one ds already (nearly 2.5 years), but suspect I have PCOS and am going for a testosterone blood test next week. (I'm fat, hairy, and have irregular periods )

We really want another child but haven't started TTC yet. I want to be prepared and start monitoring myself closely as for some weird reason I just feel like this time round things might be a bit harder! (I have a pessimistic streak).

I am also feeling intrigued and excited to start this monitoring process. I've just signed up to Fertility Friend which looks incredibly comprehensive.

I have a Braun digital ear thermometer - will that do for monitoring my temp, or should I get one of these things?

I am probably going to have a lot of questions on this little journey, but so happy there are others doing the same thing!

beachtent · 11/07/2010 12:40

Also... just browsing thermometers on Amazon, and saw this sperm friendly vaginal lubricant - has anyone used it, or is it a gimmick?

hippychick66 · 11/07/2010 15:27

OMG got a fab positive on an OPK just now. Have been testing for the last week and getting faint lines then today got some decent egg white so thought I'd see what the old OPK said - it says YES. It's day 23 (if you count the begining of the MC as day one) so I am dead excited.

Immediately claimed I was too hot and went to put on a skimpy top and shorts. DH whispered that we would have to do something about that later - ahh bless him he knows not that he is being programmed!

Can't believe I am so excited about TTC after 2 MC's in a row but I guess that is the thing with optimist.

beachtent i don't think an ear thermometer is accurate enough - it needs to be a BBT thermometer. the bit about I am fat and hairy made me laugh. I know it wasn't meant to be funny and sorry if I offended you - it's just it made me think of an ad in the paper or a description on a dating site.

Hi, I am 33, GSOH, fat and hairy!

I hope the blood test is helpful to you.

danilou22 I hope you did the mouth one first or used a good disinfectant inbetween . Personally I have never been up for taking my temp vaginally. My two boys have in the past wandered in and caught me temping and I'd be mortified if I was doing it that way when they caught me.

I think the main thing is to see the temp shift so as long as you stick to one or the other and don't swap about you should be ok.

How are our preggie ladies doing. I would have been 10 weeks today so i'm guessing you must all be getting past the 8 week mark.

spilttheteaagain · 11/07/2010 20:01

Welcome beachtent!

Hippy is right, you need a BBT thermometer for charting. I got this one which is about the same price as the one you linked to but comes with 10 ovulation tests and 10 pregnancy tests (I got away without needing to buy any more by using them very sparingly! Pleased my inner scrooge )

That thermometer comes in either Farenheit (which I have) or Celsius (look at the bottom of the page).

PreSeed is supposed to be good. If you normally use lube then you'd be wise to replace it with a conception friendly one. The KY's etc are made of the wrong stuff as far as sperm are concerned.

BabyValentine · 11/07/2010 20:05

Hi everyone - haven't been on for a while and there is so much to catch up on!

hippy, pleased to see you are back in the SWIing of things and using your feminine wiles I am 9 weeks today, and so far so good. Feeling sick as a dog, of course and already put on a few pounds, probably due to the need to eat to stave off the sickness . Seeing the midwife this week, so I'm getting a wee bit excited! silver and spilt, how's the vomit going?

dani, your chart does look anovulatory again . Anovulatory cycles are pretty common IIRC, but of course most women don't spot them if they aren't charting (I had one in Sept, one in Feb, but then was pregnant by May - it only takes one egg after all). Good luck with your scan, I hope you get some answers. Remember knowledge is power, and once you know what the problem is, you can find the solution.

Hello to beachtent! You're in good hands here. I've used pre-seed; it is a bit pricey though. I think it is mentioned in the bible TCOYF.

rubberduckies, hope your move went well.

choccie, doesn't it look like you ovulated on CD13/14? Although you did post a few days ago, so the high temperatures over the w/e have probably cleared up the ambiguity... As for this month being lower in comparison with the others, I really don't think they are.

bessie, perhaps you had a LH surge but then didn't manage to ovulate. I think it is possible to release the hormone but then not ovulate, and then have another surge later on and successfully ovulate. Did anything particularly stressful happen around the time of the peak readings?

BabyValentine · 11/07/2010 20:06

Oh, and orchid, so sorry about your BFN . How long before you get the SA results?

spilttheteaagain · 11/07/2010 20:07

Hello hippy, I did snort at how easily manipulated your DH is! Good luck
Let us know when your temps go up!

I'm ok, feeling less sick now I'm on drugs and have drastically adjusted eating patterns. I am eating like a kitten at the moment, about 12 minute meals a day (like 4 tsp of yoghurt with a little sugar, or a third of a cup of soup). Seems to help.

I'm 6+2 today, and BUnderBonnet was a couple of days ahead of me. I think Silver and BV were both 2-3 weeks further on so must be 8+3/4 ish.

We told our parents a couple of days ago, and mine went mad with excitement. I think they are more excited than we are... but then they aren't tired, sick and worried. DH's were slightly more measured in their response but very pleased nonetheless. Cautioned us against getting too excited yet, which of course we're well aware of.

spilttheteaagain · 11/07/2010 20:09

Wow 9 weeks BV, time does fly! Congratulations

LittleSilver · 11/07/2010 20:27

spilt I just laughed out loud, yes am 8+4 today! Doing the mini-meal thing too, oatcaked and microwave rice are my new best friends! Glad that you are feeling a bit better.

Hippy wooo-hooo, with the +opk! Get off MN and go, erm upstairs! Shoo now!

Welcome beachtent So glad you decided to pop over and join us! No, agree with others, temping aurally not accurate enough. The thermom you linked to looks fine but you may want to consider temping in C if that is more familiar to you, though some ladies here to temp in F. Like spilt said, you can get some good deals.

Danilou, whilst I agree with the point that hippy made about temping vaginally (and also with her salient point about the order in which you temp )I did notice that your chart had a "saw-tooth" pattern, which Our One And Only Toni Weschler (OOAOTW?) suggests can be due to open-mouth sleeping etc and recitified by temping vaginally. Maybe something to consider further?

Where's decafgirl these days?

decaf namechanged, but I don't want to give her away. She's on a theme.

Ooh just used the MN due date calculator and it would put me as EDD of 1st March, whereas FF said 4th. I'm a little confused, but hopeful that it could mean I'm 6+5 rather than 6+2.... I would LOVE to fastforward my way through this wretched trimester!

silver did you remember the saw-tooth thing off by heart? I thought you said your book was with a friend

LittleSilver · 11/07/2010 20:39

Good evening teason! How lovely to see you

Umm, yes, TCOYF is with a friend. And I am really quite tragic aren;t I?

Hello there, just peeking my head round the door.

I've been on MN a while and have a DD, 21 months, who we conceived after a year of trying. Am qute old and decrepit - 38 and 3 months and have just started trying for No2. The mums off my antenatal thread from DD recommended TCOYF and I've just finished reading and am starting to chart and noticed this thread.
Hoping i can join in. Have found FF and have put in 6 or 7 days of temps.
