I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

I'll have you know this is my second membership to the MAS. I bought one long before DD - then had to upgrade to the larger post-childbirth size

hippychick66 · 08/06/2010 20:48

babyV How funny.

I had a mirena coil put in when my youngest was 10 weeks old and the doc tried clamping me open . then mumbled something about a bigger clamp and wandered off - coming back with a bigger one!

I just blurted out, are you saying that my vagina is too big for a standard clamp????

She kindly said, well you have just had a big baby!!!

How do you look at your ferning dani

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 20:49

No joke hippy, here is where I got them . You can see my style of choice in the centre of the nice fan shape of "Cotton topped pads".

Tis no different to washable nappies, but obviously not everyone's cup of tea. I love them because I no longer get problems with skin irritated by the plastickyness of disposable towels.

Haven't yet been tempted to photo CM empty, though if you look near the start of this thread silver was telling me about a horrific CM photo in Taking Charge of Your Fertility...

hippychick66 · 08/06/2010 20:52

Well you learn something every day. I think it shows that you have a very flamboyant personality that you went for tartan!!! Or was it so you couldn't see what was on there .

Danilou22 · 08/06/2010 20:55

hippy
I have an ovulation microscope. You have to spit on it in the morning wait 5mins and then see if there is a ferning pattern. When you fern you are about to ovulate. Not sure I have the hang of it though!

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 20:55

It was more in case the white bits never quite went back to white after washing... very practical! I have never had anything approaching a flamboyant personality

BabyValentine · 08/06/2010 21:04

, glad I'm not the only one, hippy
You guys are great, taking my mind off the FF testing date tomorrow...

LittleSilver · 08/06/2010 21:12

spilt, have just clicked through and oh my goodness, if I wasn't wedded to my mooncup I would be purchasing a Minki Pad just for the hell of it (and so i could say the name outloud!). yes, I did try the mooncup trick. All I can say is I have never felt quite so nauseous as when the time came to remove it. I actually had to shut my eyes as I emptied it. Bleurgh! (*LittleSilver adds maturely)

You know that tip they give you in TCOYF about how to test if it's semen or EWCM; about dropping it in a glass of water to see if it sinks or flaots (or something?) Maybe I am overanalysing this, but surely you would need a Dedicated Glas for this, maybe a Tesco Value wine glass (also easier to explain in the bathroom) or a pint glass (so as to easily observe floating or graceful descent of said ewcm.

On another note I raved about the mooncup to the vicar's wife this morning. She's promised to google!

BV I, er, emphasised some symptoms to get a higher score too! (Too mean to pay for VIP membership past free trial though!)

x-post, BV, testing tomorrow? Good luck! What hpts do you have in the house?

BUnderTheBonnet · 08/06/2010 21:20

Congrats Silver!

Glad I'm not the only one who cheats experiments with Fertility Friend's prenancy signs thingy. I had 85 points last month, which is my top score

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 21:24

They award points?!

Maybe I shall have to join!

Danilou22 · 08/06/2010 21:25

I can't help it I have got to ask a question .... WTF is a moon cup????

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 21:25

Best wishes for the morning BV!

BabyValentine · 08/06/2010 21:26

I'm not going to test in the morning, as I didn't actually get AF until 18DPO last month, with my temperature still above the coverline (!). Tomorrow will be 17DPO. Might try to hold on until Friday (if AF doesn't get me first).

I have 4 tiny little internet strips and a ClearBlue double pack - bought excitedly about 30 minutes before AF's arrival last month. I have to admit they have been whispering 'wee on mee.., wee on mee...'.

And, I am pleased to see that you are taking your MAS membership seriously and spreading the Mooncup gospel!

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 21:26

Danilou a mooncup

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 21:28

Sounds very sensible. No sense in wasting tests, and you don't want to have to go cross eyed trying to see a line because it's too early.

BabyValentine · 08/06/2010 21:40

My score is only 66. Bit disappointing really. I might have to modify my symptoms...

decafgirl · 08/06/2010 21:53

You lot are hilarious, I only popped out to buy a truck load of Agnus Castus, EPO and Starflower oil and look what's been going on!

Have just swallowed the largest tablets I have ever seen so onwards and upwards from here! Which wise person was it that said CD2 is so much better than CD1? Very true

xx decaf

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 08/06/2010 22:03

Is there still a chance??

I'm on DPO12 acording to fertilty friend, and over the last 3 days my temps have gradually decreased but remained above the coverline.

At DPO6 I had a steady increase for 5 days following a sharp dip (convinced myself it was implantation ). So since DPO my temps have given what looks like a perfect (triangle iyswim).

AF hasnt arrived yet, but I would normally expect temps to remain high, and then drop sharply on the day that AF shows.

Is that right?
Is there still any hope or am I really clutching at straws now?

decafgirl · 08/06/2010 22:06

Is AF due today? x

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 08/06/2010 22:18

According to fertility friend - yes, but day 28 (my usual cycle length) isnt until Thursday.

This is only the 2nd month using FF and last month was quite short, but before that, I've always been 28 days.

decafgirl · 08/06/2010 22:26

If my experiences of charting are anything to go by anything could happen between now and Thursday. I'd definately wait until Thurs for any sneaky testing - FF is brill but you know your body better than the computer does.

I don't think you should make any assumptions based on temps alone. Have you have any symptoms? The month I gor pg with DS my temps dropped CD32 and got lower again CD33 then I tested that evening & had a BFP so anything can happen.

My temps didn't fall until 15dpo this cycle but they were rising until then. I've got verything crossed for you hon xxx

decafgirl · 08/06/2010 22:27

Grr...everything

justshaggy · 08/06/2010 23:07

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed It's never over until AF comes! But I echo decaf, wait until at least your day that AF is meant to come before testing. 12DPO is very early - TCOYF advises 18DPO before getting excited, and for most I would think that's a few days past when AF would normally have arrived so there's a part of me that thinks 'd-uh'. One of my cycles my temps dropped slowly, but the others have done as you describe ... sharp drop in last two days before AF comes. Good Luck!

I have a mooncup too! - but bought softcups for this cycle for the first time thinking they'd be properly sterile. They're huge though !

Good luck for tomorrow BV

I'm not sure I would ever score high on FF's pregnancy signs thingy ... my symptoms aren't on the list to select.

emptyshell · 09/06/2010 08:12

Well FF had decided I'd ovulated (have only temped half the month though) and has now chucked a strop because today's was lower (it was taken earlier) and decided I didn't ovulate. Peed off because was hoping I was looking at a nice typical chart to get me back on track post miscarriage and into normal service as usual - now it looks like this might be one of those delightful "take months to get a period back" post mc fests.

Temping when you rarely get more than 2 hours sleep uniterrupted isn't proving easy - I've been setting my alarm clock but when I go through an insomnia fit anywhere within about an hour or so earlier, taking it then as a best fit but my sleep patterns are so screwed up it's a pain in the rear.
