I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

decaf, I got that a few months ago. I said, 'No, I AM the mam!'

And, I know, I know hippy, but after last month's 17-day LP and Toni telling me that 'you are most probably pregnant if you get to CD18', I am really, really trying to keep a lid on things. I lurch from being really hopeful, 'cause what is the harm, gutted is still gutted when AF arrives, and trying my hardest to be pessimistic, because then I won't be so shattered when she appears.

It must be so, so, stressful for the long-term TTCers. I can't imagine how hard it must be.

decaf, you have the right idea - I have vino ready for when AF arrives. Might even treat myself to a takeaway too. Get that eclair down your neck, I hear they're good for regulating cycles

And - don't some people use egg white for real? I'm sure it is mentioned in a case-study bit in TCOYF.

hippychick66 · 07/06/2010 21:38

decaf well mine came to a pamper night at the school and I won a taster session in the raffle (15 mins). i discussed the fact that I was ttc and that i was over 40 and she said she'd done a special course in fertility so i booked a few sessions. I don't know if she helped me to get preg before but it only took 5 cycles. Then after we lost the baby I saw her again for a couple of 'make me feel better' sessions. then last month i went to her just before I was due to ovulate (there is stuff they can do to stimulate the ovaries that can not be done post ovulaiton). Anyway wam bam thank you mam, she must have stimulated them there ovaries well cos I got preg. And it was the 3rd cycle we tried. I will be going back to her when/if i get past 12 weeks.

A recommendation is of course the best way to find someone. there is probably an institute of reflexologists and anyone who is proper and above board would be registered with them. I can email her and ask her how you would find someone if you like. Also, it would be good to find one that has done the fertility course.

silver my friend at work who was trying the twice a day sex method to get pregnant (and of course failed cos the poor man was probably shooting out water ). Has decided that this month she is going to use raw egg yokes. Apparently you shoot them up there using a turkey baster and they give the sperm a leg up. they can't be put in too long before the deed is done cos you could get salmonella . I am not suggesting that you try this AT ALL but you just reminded me of it with your talk of yorkshire puds.

She says she got the idea off a lesbian website about getting pregnant using doner sperm!

8rubberduckies · 07/06/2010 21:43

I think you'll struggle to find a Reflexologist who will rip you off, they're generally fluffy types .

As a rule I'd say don't go to a beauty salon for a treatment if you want help with something specific. Some beauty therapists will have only done a short course in some holistic therapies alongside their other more beauty-based training (hope I haven't pissed off any beauty therapists reading this, obviously some will have great qualifications ). If you go to a private treatment room / holistic therapy centre you will see a holistic therapist who will probably have had more training and know more about the medical benefits of the therapy rather than just it's relaxing properties.

Look out for letters after the therapist's name, VTCT or ITEC qualifications are pretty common and well-established, but ITEC involves more study. Look for someone who is also a member of a professional body. Some reflexologists will say in their blurb if they are particularly experienced in helping with fertility / pregnancy related issues and will probably have done extra training in working with this client group, but any reflexologist worth their salt will know the right areas to work.

Right, you've persuaded me to start saving the pennies and get some treatment myself! I trained in reflexology years ago but sadly I don't think it has quite the same effect if you do it to yourself!

8rubberduckies · 07/06/2010 21:45

Repeated a lot of what hippychick said sorry, posted at same time...

decafgirl · 07/06/2010 22:00

Thanks so much ladies, I'd really like a recommendation hippy so that'd be great, thanks.

It's such a strange situation isn't it? With anything else you'd be able to ask around and get advice/recommendations but ttc is so personal you can't just ask the girls at work!

My mum's a trained reflexologist - not that she ever practises but I don't really fancy asking her to stimulate my ovaries

xx

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 07:09

Happy birthday silver's DH!

Any news?

LittleSilver · 08/06/2010 07:34

Ah, spilt, DH says thank you very much!

Yes, I have news.

BFP!

Confirmed on FR and CB digi (took ages to come up, I spent the whole time staring at the pos FR and reminding myself that CB digi are 25 miu (aren't they?))

spilt was it you who told me the mooncup trick? Thank you for that!

Will be hanging around the thread for a while yet, though like hippy stopped temping straightaway. Luck to you all

Hi ho silver! Thrilled to bits for you. Happy Birthday Mr. Silver!

decafgirl · 08/06/2010 08:50

Woohoo!!! Congrats silver that's brilliant news xxx

hippychick66 · 08/06/2010 09:07

GRADUATES

Hippy BFP - 29/5/10
Silver BFP - 8/6/10

I am so pleased for you - what a wonderful way to celebrate hubbies B-day.

So you must have enough egg whites all by yourself thank goodness you don't need to start shooting real ones up there!

decaf what area of the country are you in?, I could ask my lady if she can recommend anyone - I imagine they all meet up at conventons etc.

8rubberduckies · 08/06/2010 10:15

Congratulations silver!

decafgirl · 08/06/2010 12:10

I'm in sunny Newcastle hippy xxx

emptyshell · 08/06/2010 13:02

OK - so which of you told me about the chart gallery on fertility friend? I've just managed to waste about 2 hours on there... I've come to the point where I'm admiring the charts of other women's cervical snot - I need to get pregnant before I lose my marbles completely (or start swapping polaroids).

BabyValentine · 08/06/2010 13:24

empty, it is so easy to lose hours on that site! I upped my membership to VIP last week (cost about £10 for 90 days) and have wasted hours overlaying charts and comparing and contrasting. I only have 4 months worth of charts to compare, so God only knows how I manage to fanny about so much!

hippychick66 · 08/06/2010 13:38

empty and babyV If someone had told you a few years back that you would spend hours looking at charts of other womens cycles what would you have said???

We are nuts arn't we!

But I agree with you - it does get very addictive.

How are you silver?? Has it sunk in yet?

decaf That is quite a long way from me (Hertfordshire), but i will defo ask my reflexologist if she can recommend anyone or if there is a directory etc. I really hope you give it a try, I think she's been a big help for me. i asked her if she treated anyone else exclusively for fertility and she said just one other and yes, she got preg as well. So that's a 100% record!

justshaggy · 08/06/2010 14:01

Silver Wow - congrats!!!

That was me empty . Good, isn't it. Have you tried the 'find charts like mine' option yet? Just wait till you start building up a set of your own and as bv says, can overlay your own charts through several months. My only small criticism is the pregnancy signs analyser - I don't think they have enough signs to check (nipple sensitivity is missing and that seems a biggie to me). But hats off the developers - its an amazing system and (being a bit of a data freak myself) they must have so much research material at their fingertips. Amazing.

decaf LOL at your window cleaner. Fat chance of that ever happening with me.

Fingers crossed for you BV. I think there's only so much you can do about getting a BFP, and the rest is up to nature. Hang in there hun. x

I'm now on the 2ww, but woke this morning with a shocking headache and nausea - seriously bad actually (stayed off work). PG symptoms can't start the day after ov, can they....?

BabyValentine · 08/06/2010 14:23

shaggy, I agree that the pregnancy signs analyser is a bit odd - I like to change the signs to get the best result (cheat in other words)!

My temp went up ever so slightly this morning, whereas last month it dipped at this point. But I've had the usual increased CF which usually starts just before AF, so I'm trying not to get too excited. And as poor decaf can testify, temperatures higher and for longer than usual, don't necessarily mean a thing.

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 17:07

Woooo! Well done silver! Massive congratulations!

(Got in from work, first thought... "thank God I can now find out whether or not silver is up the duff! ... rather than "thank God I'm home now" )

Yes it was me who said about the mooncup. I take it you tried that? Maybe I will buy one then... I suppose now I'm acquainted with my cervix I shouldn't find a mooncup too traumatic. However, seems a shocking waste of cash having invested only a year ago in nice washable tartan patterned towels... (can sense you all edging away!)

spilttheteaagain · 08/06/2010 17:11

BV thanks for the EPO tip. Today I appear to have started POURING CM... A vile thought if I wasn't so immersed in ttc.

I sat on the loo at work stretching CM happily and then went back to the office and texted DH to tell him. Look what charting has done. hippy is right. We are all nuts.

emptyshell · 08/06/2010 18:25

No, nuts will be when we start sharing photos of it. This is perfectly sane and normal that other women on the internet know what's coming out of (and going into) our doo-dahs.

Just have a vision of someone playing silly putty with it on the bog in my mind right now.

hippychick66 · 08/06/2010 19:13

splitz Is that a joke about the tartan re-usable towels???????

My 10 year DS came home from school today and said that the girls had a talk with their mums about periods. He said they all got given one sanitary towel and they all came out wearing them on their heads and throwing them at the boys. Also, they were all saying, "Yuck, i don't wanna bleed!"

Poor girls - they have no clue that they have all this to come!

BabyValentine · 08/06/2010 20:16

I have a Mooncup! Remember, I got all excited when it was mentioned a few weeks ago . Admittedly, I haven't used it for TTC (yet). It isn't as bad as it sounds, honest.

Intrigued by the reusable towels, splitz. I might look into reusable towels (my Mooncup isn't that good!) because I do like to save the planet every now and then.

spilt, I'm so glad the EPO has had the desired effect. I never really noticed a change in EWCM, but I suspect it regulated my ovulation day, and possibly lengthened my LP (or perhaps that was a fluke).

Oh, don't you just love the internet....we would never get the chance to have such in depth bodily fluid conversations otherwise.

hippychick66 · 08/06/2010 20:17

You lot in the 'mooncup admiration society' do make me laugh .

BabyValentine · 08/06/2010 20:18

Sorry, spilt.

Danilou22 · 08/06/2010 20:43

Congratulations Littlesilver!!!

How exciting! Not much to tell here I am on day 13 waiting for any sign of EWCM although I never produce much! and looking at my ferning patterns which actually just make me worry as I seem to fern a little randomly which can't be good!

I also upgradeded to VIP on Fertility Friend! Putting in my temperature is becoming the highlight of my day
