Hello world!

OP posts:
rowingboat · 17/05/2010 14:33

Hi all,
just popped in quickly to say I have been over to the hossy for a blood test and they think I will probably ovulate on day 14 so don't need to go back until Thursday morning.
They are making a tremendous fuss about DP going in to 'show his face' before the transfer. I did explain that he will be coming in on the transfer day and he has signed a form to give approval.
So he has to take time off to drive across to the clinic for 5 minutes because they aren't satisfied with a signature or an appearance at a time convenient for us. DP thinks it's crazy, he was wondering how many of the staff there would actually recognise him and thinks I should take in a bloke from the hospital car park to see if know the difference.
I'm just a bit anxious because I am very touchy about wasting annual leave when we may have another two treatments abroad ahead of us this Summer. [eye twitching emoticon]
Sorry all about me, but got to pop off with my mum and DS for a quick reccy round the shops..... back soon.....

hippychick66 · 17/05/2010 16:21

Very funny rowing. Have visions of them saying, "This isn't the bloke you bought with you last time!"

So if you ov on day 14 when do the embies go in (day 21 ish i suppose).

Wow how exciting.

hairytriangle · 17/05/2010 18:29

Rowingboat thinking of you!

hairytriangle · 17/05/2010 18:32

rainbowdays just read back properly - am so sorry for what is happening to you and has happened to you - big hug to you. x

rowingboat · 17/05/2010 19:10

Hi all,
thank you for the kind wishes!
Sorry I forgot to say I'm on CD10 today and CD14 would be Friday.
The embryos were frozen on day three, so they would be looking to put them back in three days post ovulation, so day 17 probably which would be Monday.
I haven't taken Monday off so I hope they are quick. Better ask what time it would be.

Diege how is work, did your students submit their work yet?

Hippy are you not doing the cream this time - really?

Curly don't go and read that thread it's making everyone depressed! .

GPS how is the new job going? Is the escape tunnel coming along nicely?

Alba are you finding interesting new ways to disguise the fact you are sound asleep at work?

Gum how are you and your crew of bandaged children? All on the mend I hope?

Jollster do you think the acupuncture is helping? Does she give you much feedback?
When I went during IVF the practitioner told me 'why' she was doing things, but didn't really give me much feedback on my physical state.

Rainbow that's good news about the appointment at the miscarriage clinic. I hope they give you some answers.

Florence, Pollyanna and PinkP how are you guys?

Not much to add really, but we aren't doing the deed with intent atm. The clinic have told us to use barrier contraception, so that's that then.

OP posts:
gonepearshaped · 17/05/2010 19:54

Excited for you Rowing we'll all be on tenterhooks for Monday. Pity the clinic are being to starchy about your dp turning up, have they no idea how tricky it is to keep all this stuff together and have something resembling a life as well?

Devon is finally sunny but there's rain due tomorrow, I guess at least we need not worry about drought. The job is going well (I think) new boss kindly let me 'work from home' this week as DP is away which is pretty amazing. Escape tunnel still beckons, in fact DP is already half way down it as we speak whereas I'm just a quivering mass of indecision.

hairytriangle · 17/05/2010 21:17

today is 19 days after first day of my bleed (miscarriage) and I think I might be geting mild periody type cramps (which I often get a week before af). Don't know though. Hope it is cos that would mean things might, just might, go back to normal soonish.

gumblossom · 18/05/2010 04:06

Rowing, it is lovely to hear things are moving along for you.
Hairy I hope it does mean things are normalising for you.

All's well for me, though I now have DD2 at home with a cold! It is never quiet around here.

As for my sis, things are just awful and i feel awful for feeling because she is in a real pickle. She told the bastard lover boy and he has basically told her to terminate as he can't deal with it. For all his words of love, he just won't commit. I could see this all along, but you know what they say about rose coloured glasses, and he had a silver tongue and made huge promises. It is a horrible situation, cos although she doesn't want to do it alone, she doesn't know if she wants to terminate.I'd hate to be in her shoes.

GPS, sorry I think I may have missed something, what did you mean about "escape tunnel"?

I know I should stay away from symptom spotting, but I did have odd breast twinges yesterday. Of course it could be nothing. I started temping again today, and I had a lovely high one for the first time in two years.

So how early will others be testing? I want to wait til 14 dpo, but alas I have 50 internet cheapie tests! How on earth will I stay away from them????

rainbowdays · 18/05/2010 09:12

Rowing - you sound so calm about all the procedures for this coming week, I think I would be a quivering wreck! Hope it all goes well, and I hope that they recognise your dh

Gonepearshaped - like gum here, I am a bit baffled about the escape tunnel, did I miss a post further back?

Gum - Your sister is really in a difficult situation, it must be very hard for you to listen to her. I hope that she works out soon what she wants to do to get through it all. As for those internet cheapies, why do we get them to tempt ourselves bet you don't wait to 14dpo!

hairy - I hope that things are settling down for you again now, have you had more blood tests to see what the hcg is doing? Sorry you are going through this.

jollster - hows the progesterone cream going?

Alba - I hope you are going doing nice relaxing things in the evenings? The scan is not too far away now, but I am sure to you it feels like an eternity.

Well with so many of you in the 2ww now, I hope that next week there are not all of you with PMT here or I will run away from the thread for a few days, that is until you all get BFP's. I hope that we get more than one bpf in the next two weeks!

Anyway, got to get on with some work now!

hairytriangle · 18/05/2010 09:41

ooh rowing good luck, thinking of of you, how exciting!

Diege · 18/05/2010 10:10

Morning . Rowing, you do indeed sound very calm.Very exiciting, and yes, let's hope they recognise your dh Re: work my students are sitting their welfare theory exam as we speak
Gum Things sound very hopeful for you, what with the boob twinges and high temp. Lol at the amount of internet cheapies you have got - have you been adding to an aleady considerable pile of them, or did you splurge? I have 8 tests, and am determined to wait till af late. I am pretty sure I'm not pregnant this month,as no symptoms to report whatsoever. Maybe I'll buy some more opks off e-bay for next month, just so I get to see 2 lines on a stick .
Hairy that does sound good, and seems like things are getting back on track for you x
Gonepearshaped glad the work's going well, and hope you're enjoying the working from home. I'm doing the same today and Thurs, but my personality is def not suited to it. There are too many distractions (ok, I'm just lazy)
Hi Rainbow how are things? Hope you're feeling ok after the disappointment, though I know from experience how rotton you must be feeling xx
Hippy any more symptoms to report? I have a good feeling about you this month!
Must get back to transcribing interviews.I cringe as I read them as I am an awful interviewer and talk over all the good bits Dh coming back fo9r lunch, then I have an eyebrow tint/shape this afternoon,so a good soliud day of work seems out of the window. And the sun is shining too!

Pollyanna · 18/05/2010 12:56

Hi Rowing you do seem very calm - will be thinking of you on Monday.

I'm fine, just in the 2ww which for me is only 1 week as I ov around day 18. (worrying that isn't really long enough to fertilise etc, but I try not to dwell on that). rtd due in next couple of days and I'm thinking that every cramp is it on its way.

Gum your poor sister - has she told her exdh yet?

Curly I think I might have been on that thread too - under a different name. I can't use that name again now as it was such bad luck.

Have you got birthday plans diege? my dh was meant to be arranging a party for me but surprise surprise nothing's been arranged yet. I am holding out for a mulberry bag though...

rainbow and hairy I'm really sorry for what you're going through (btw hairy i'm in Brighton too!) (gonepearshaped - I'm near st ann's wells).

Have an appt at acupuncturist again tonight - It's getting more painful each time as she keeps putting needles in my stomach now as well as feet/wrists/ears etc. Hopefully it's doing some good though!

Diege · 18/05/2010 14:34

Hi Pollanna I suppose it would be rather insensitive to ask on here how you're feeling about the big 40.No party organised here ( I hope!) though would settle for the Mulberry bag Good luck with your appointment xx

gonepearshaped · 18/05/2010 18:02

Rainbow, Gum the escape tunnel is an obscure reference to the fact that having just moved over from Italy I'm already thinking about going back. No clue what to do, DP hates being in UK and I miss the sunshine really badly (as does DS) but here I have stuff like pension provision and over there everything is done on a wing and a prayer...

Hairy hope things are getting back to normal at last.

Diege I'm not doing terribly well at avoiding all those 'ooh I'll just put the washing out and vacuum the cat' thoughts. Funny how housework is so much more appealing as an escape from the other kind.

Waves to Pollyanna, enjoy a nice coffee in the St Ann's well cafe for me - round here decent coffee like hen's teeth!

What do people think about internet cheapies vs Boots pricies for OPKs - not so bothered re the hpts - need to get that far first. I tried some OPKs from the net and they were cheap enough but I'm not sure how reliable, that or I OV once in a blue moon .

One reason to come back to the UK was to have a final proper go at ttc and to find out if there's a medical reason why I can't iyswim, I guess the first thing my gp will ask is if I know that I do OV.

Lots of luck to all on the 2ww.

doubleshotlatte · 18/05/2010 19:19

Hello, I've been away/lurking for a while. Looks like a lot happened while I was away!

good luck to Rowing will be thinking of you too-hoping you'll tell us everything when u get back

Hippy hope I'll be joining you in symptom spotting soon

to everyone else, will catch up and find out what your news is, gradually.

Am on CD11. Have a brand new OPK sitting on the bathroom shelf. And NO idea how to use it. Well, printed instructions aside. Are there any tricks or tips to make the 7 test sticks last the right number of days- what if I ovulate late in the cycle-and all the tests are negative (cue huge panic)...

anyone here who has used OPKs? the POAS type? any tips?

hippychick66 · 18/05/2010 19:58

Firstly let me set the record straight - curly wasn't the one who was being all maudlin and looking back - it was me. I have to hold my hands up - can't let you all think it was her who was being a wuss and looking at a thread where we were all up the duff.

So that's that confession made

Wow, diege you have a good feeling about me this month. Someone on another thread that I pop onto (charters annon) said exactly the same thing. I asked her why she thought this was my month and she said just a hunch - I really hope you're both right [please, please - begging face icon).

rowing I really am giving the cream a miss this month. Can't explain it really just wanted to be sure it wasn't the cream that made me loopy last month. Also i keep thinking that I got preg without it before - so SHOULD be able to do it again.

I will be thinking of you rowing on Monday. You must be so excited.

doubleshot please don't have a huge panic if all the sticks are neg. It is sooo easy to miss an LH surge. I have been lucky and had positives on them since the MC but I think it's cos I'm charting and so am far more in tune with my cycle and my body. My only advise would be make sure you use a good strong sample of wee - check it is good and yellow and do it in the afternoon.

hairy and rainbow sending loads of love and virtual support your way.

alba big hugs and waves xxx

Jolly How's my lttle beach babe?

I think it would be so wonderful if we got a few BFP's from last weeks shagathon. I am not going to test till AF is due .

hippychick66 · 18/05/2010 20:26

doubleshot You mentioned symptom spotting - I know it's too early to spot yet but i am defo post ovulation. I have so much progesterone hanging around that it's causing me to have heart burn and trapped wind. Oh the joys of the 2WW. or in my case TDW (10 day wait!)

This thread is getting exciting isn't it - lots going on.

gum I feel for your sis. It must be awful to get a BFP when you don't want one.

hippychick66 · 18/05/2010 20:29

Last one from me for now - honest!

Just thinking about diege and the other lady having a good feeling about me getting a BFP and thinking, in the words of Forrest Gump - "I sure hope i don't let them down!"

What happened to the list???

rowingboat · 18/05/2010 23:38

Hi all,
oo'er bit busy on here and don't really have time to do justice to your lovely posts.
Gum that sounds like an awful situation for your sis, would hate to be in that position.
On the plus side your news sounds very good, I hope this is what I think, but at the minimum, it means you are back to normal.

Deige marking essays, does this mean almost the end of term? Is it semesters you are on?

Hippy, I know you started the trouble with the other thread - you trouble maker! I was warning Curly off, I thought, 'that Hippy is starting trouble'.

Rainbow what a lovely thought, lots of PMT women all posting at once.

DSL I have only used the kind of OPK where you wee in a cup. I have used the POAS pg tests and they were very literally that: you pee'd on them and they gave a result within a minute. good luck with the instrutions.

GPS I do hope the weather picks up there and a nice cafe opens up nearby, serving lovely espressos.
It was very sunny and nice here today, but not so much that you had to wear very revealing clothing, my favourite.

Pollyanna, wincing about the needles. I used to dread going for acupuncture, but it did work on loads of my IVF treatment symptoms.

Hairy how are the symptoms? Do you do any temping or that kind of thing?

So not much to report, apart from a fat tummy due to food intake. Must go to bed zzz

OP posts:
Diege · 19/05/2010 10:32

Morning! Rowing hope you got some rest after your late post! Re: work, yes, end of semester 2 stuff coming in at the moment, though unfortuantely it's a bit of a myth about long hols and HE lecturers! We get 6 weeks a year, so I tend to take 2 at xmas, 2 at easter, then save up last 2 for our annual hols in August. Having said that, while the work load doesn't reduce (as we have publications etc to work on) for me at least it changes down a gear after June and is generally a lot nicer
Hippy That's interesting about what the other poster said re: 'your month'. I don't know what it is, just a good feeling I have. Maybe (with it not being my month I'm pretty sure) I'm just transposing all my excitement onto you How long till you test and put us both you out of your misery? And what's this thread you have been naughty on then??
Doubleshotlatte The months I've conceived I have to say I've never got a positive reading on opks (but was obviously ovulating). Have learnt from here though that they should be done afternoon (rather than first thing) so maybe that was where I've been going wrong . Have used e-bay cheapies too - seems too good to miss when they are so cheap!
Right, back to work. I'm actually seeing my boss at 11 about going back to full-time, as I;m basically doing full-time (well, actually more than) for 4 days a week pay. I'd still have the flexibility so could work from home 1 or 2 days a week, but be totally maxed out the other days . Still the extra £300 or so a month would be very useful!

hairytriangle · 19/05/2010 12:14

Morning all. I now have two more bruises to add to my already impressive collection LOL.

Am trying not to symptom spot, but I have the normal PMT, spots, and mild cramps (I get them a week before AF usually) so fingers crossed that I'm normalising (god I would so love to be just normal!)

Doubleshotlatte I have only ever had one positive ovulation test out of six that I've done - but I know I ovulate regularly (have had tests to prove it) and I have really clear bodily symptoms. At the grand old age of 41 I started to 'symptom spot' and they are so clear, I can't believe I never noticed before!!

Apparently the POAS tests are difficult, because there's a very short 'window of time' in which they will pick up the hormones.

x

hippychick66 · 19/05/2010 16:57

diege It will probably turn out to be your month after all (it often happens when you think "It wont happen this time!")

Lets hope it's both of us

I was naughty cos I looked back at a thread where I was preg and quite a few of the others on here were there too. I know there's no point looking backwards so i am gonna try to stop picking that particular scab (you made me laugh rowing )

Only on day 18 so wont be testing for ages yet (twiddle thumbs and try to think of somehting else to do for a week or so icon).

Love to all.

alba All ok with you???

AlbaDeTamble · 19/05/2010 17:49

Very tired and very queasy and very sore boobs, so I guess that's all fine here for now thanks Hippy...

Waves to all, looking forward to lots and lots of BFPs very soon from the Friday night/Saturday morning team, and hoping you're keeping nice and chilled still rowing, not far behind them all!

hippychick66 · 19/05/2010 20:48

Good good alba - how many weeks are you now??

hippychick66 · 19/05/2010 21:06

TFLS - just read on another thread that you had your 20 week scan - sooo pleased all went well. Why do other people's pregnancies go so quickly - cannot believe you are 20 weeks already.

It gives me great hope cos you are A) over 40 and B) You had a MMC last time so I feel a definite link with you.

Hope you pop back on here soon and read this. . xxxxxx

ps. I wont tell them on here what sex the baby is - that's your news.
