Hi Rosie every time I'm a cycle buddy they fall pg so I hope I'm good luck for you. I've had a lttle bit of EWCM the last few days & bit watery today. I can't use OPK as I have PCOS.

Loving the weather!

earlynite · 10/04/2010 22:06

Just want to say Good Luck. I was like you lot last year and my DS2 was born 25/01/2010. He is now 11 weeks old.

mummychicken · 10/04/2010 22:27

Frist time on a bus so what is OPK?

I'm assuming 2ww is the the 2 week "I never realised how often I feek sick even though I'm not pg, and I really must stop feeling my boobs to check if they are sore" wait

rosieposey · 10/04/2010 22:28

Ah congrats earlynite

Fairygodmother i did get pg on my last cycle as i had 4 postive hpts but they turned neg after a couple of days and i got AF 3 days late. I am not overly hopeful about this month but you never know. I hope i bring you luck too

You have long cycles because of PCOS? Its good that you get EWCM though - i dont get that at all, or none that i notice anyway. Ive taken to using preseed (or i did last month) and im a bit peeved as some that i ordered last week still isnt here yet (and i really need to probably get cracking on the SWI'ing tomorrow) and i cant help but think it must really help all of us who dont do too well in the EWCM dept so hope it might be here by Monday.

Welcome ladybuzz and good luck, Emma2617 at least you get to test nice and soon - Ive got to wait till approx the 27th and it seems like ages away!!! Hope you get a nice BFP 10 days from now though

rosieposey · 10/04/2010 22:31

Mummychicken those are exactly the kind of waits the 2WW are

OPK's are ovulation predictor kits (or tests) I use a clearblue digital one (you get a smiley face telling you you are about to ovulate) then i use a back up internet one (which is a little harder to read) just incase i miss 'my surge' - its unlikely though.
HTH

LadyBuzz · 11/04/2010 07:30

OK its my first time too - What does SWIing stand for then? I can't for the life of me work it out

its nice to be able to talk about phantom and imagined symptoms with people who don't think you are a loon (like my DH).

rosieposey · 11/04/2010 08:55

Ladybuzz it means 'Shagging With Intention' it was thought that it sounded better and less twee than BD'ing (babydancing) which is what people used to say.

Ok did my Clearblue OPK this mornng and there is a so still no sign of ovulation for me but its only CD13 maybe tomorrow or the day after, i think it was CD 15 for me last cycle which meant i OV'ed on CD16 hopefully this month will be the same.

Sorry not a but a O on the opk.

MountTheFairy · 11/04/2010 12:21

Me too Rosie, and I am a day ahead of you. I think last time was day 16 for me, which actually gave me a very short luteal phase ... let's see.

BrassicaBabe · 11/04/2010 13:34

Afternoon All.

Shove up at the back of the bus, is there room for a little one? AF got me today.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 11/04/2010 15:07

This has been the longest 3 weeks EVER!
Had an early MC on the 19th of March and am desperate to get back on track, but have no idea when AF will show up (guessing/hoping next weekend).
I'm all set to start charting (bought BBT and TCOYF book)- just waiting for the go-ahead!!
Have been SWIing over the past couple of weeks - just in case
Good luck all xx

lucybrad · 11/04/2010 15:20

hi rosieposie. , umm i dont tend to use OPK's, i just do it about every couple of days between cd7 and cd22. This is because I have had a stupid long cycle before and i got ewcm on day 20 so assume i ov'd really late. other times i have had ewcm on day 9 or 10 and then have stupidly short cycles. I know that an opk would take the guess work out but i dont trust them to be right, so i am doing it the old fashioned way.
Hi fairy too, lets hope some of us get lucky, if not all!

MountTheFairy · 11/04/2010 15:45

Hey If, I am just about to start charting too, my BBT is in the post! When do you start? On day 1 I suppose? Now that I think of it, it probably does not really matter when one starts. Cheers Lucy, I'll be ambitious and hope all of us get lucky! Well, wish at least, if not hope.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 11/04/2010 15:50

I've been trying to get in to the habit before day 1 arrives - you wouldnt have thought that sticking a thermometer in your gob before you get out of bed would be so difficult!
Have started investigating CM and got quite excited when I actually found EWCM!!

MountTheFairy · 11/04/2010 15:57

Oh, and I kind of agree with you, Lucy on the accuracy of the OPK's, so this month I will just try and do it every other day. The problem is that usually I am really NOT up for it before I ovulate, which majorly changes for the rest of the cycle. And it usually does coincide with the OPK . So maybe in my case they are accurate. But I have thought that I should start SWI earlier, say day 7 like you, but it would really mean forcing myself. I do not know why but my desire is completely gone till day 14 or 15. It does not worry me too much as it is completely the opposite afterwards . Just the question of whether to force myself earlier or not. So far I have decided against it and pursuaded myself to listen to the OPK's.

MountTheFairy · 11/04/2010 16:00

If, I think I am starting to master CM, a bit worried about por DH thinking I've gone mental when I stick a thermometer in religiously in my gob every morning. Maybe I'll sneak it in before he dutyfully brings my coffee to bed .

rosieposey · 11/04/2010 18:20

Charting is supposed to be really accurate isnt it? I wont do it though as i think it might be a bit of a PITA so ill just rely on good old OPK's, I wonder if i too have a shortish luetal phase - will see on this cycle.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 11/04/2010 18:33

What is PITA?

MountTheFairy · 11/04/2010 18:37

Well, at the end of the day I am pretty certain that neither OPK's nor charting will actually help (as SWI every jother day is probably the best you can do), but it does give me some sense of control and it's vaguely interesting getting to know your own body. I have a mild 'scientific' interest in how charting will show against OPK's. Geek. Mua?

mummychicken · 11/04/2010 20:00

If - PITA I know this one!! Pain in the arse

PCOS??? No idea

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 11/04/2010 20:05

oh! haha!

rosieposey · 11/04/2010 20:06

PITA is a pain in the arse I think your right MountTheFairy, if you aer SWI'ing frequently for the middle couple of weeks then you are bound to strike lucky at some point. I SWI every day for about 8 days instead of every other day just to make sure.

I know there is a school of thought that says that there are less semen if you SWI every day but i have also got it on good authority from a friend of mine who is somewhat of an expert in fertility that actually it wont hurt to do it every day (if you can) because there are so many semen in each ejaculation that even every day there should still be enough to get you pg. It seemed to work last month, i did get pg albeit briefly so will be taking that tack again.

I probably dont need OPK's given that we are taking that route i just like to know if i have actually ovulated. Mind you some people dont even get a postive OPK and still get pg so they must have ovulated at some point
