Thought I'd set us up a new home! kettle's on and choc tin open.

This is a lucky start to our new thread: 2 BFPs and a fantastic fertilisation rate from Dueling!

Boobs and biscuits to everyone

DuelingFanjo · 10/04/2010 13:45

Thank you everyone.
I have had to tell so many people! All the people who knew we were trying.
I am now battling with my DH over Glastonbury Festival. I still want to go, he's not keen. Thinks I will be at risk. I think, if this sticks, I will be about 16 weeks.

I keep telling him that the second trimester is when you get your energy back etc but he doesn't understand.

MercenaryMom · 10/04/2010 14:18

Hurrah for Dueling! I'm so happy for you! Great news to start a lovely weekend.

As for Glastonbury - go! Think how impressed Dueling Junior will be later in life. And s/he can brag to friends that "I was going to Glastonbury before I was even born". You can't take cool credibility like that away from them!

Italian I've got my fingers crossed for you! You sometimes get bleeding with implantation too, so don't get worried just yet. I've got faith in the sticking powers of Emerald and Laurel!

I'm keeping myself happy by buying myself some IVF couture (can't conceieve while looking unfashionable, after all) and enjoying the beautiful sunshine! Waves and icy glasses of pinot gregio to all.

Penguindreams · 10/04/2010 17:56

Wonderful news DF, here's to a happy and healthy 9 months and a nice treat at the end!

Horton · 10/04/2010 18:52

Fingers crossed here, too, for Emerald and Laurel!

Idreaminchocolateprofiteroles · 10/04/2010 22:15

Hi Ladies,

Another quickie.

Duelingfanjo, what can I say? That's absolutely bloody brilliant! Congratulations! xxxxxxx

My scan this morning didn't go so well again. I have about 5 follicles on one ovary and 3 on the other but to quote the consultant "they're all really small". My womb lining is now 5mm (up from 3.6mm yesterday), so still pretty thin. They've upped my dosage to 225iu and I'm back for another scan on Monday.

xxxxx

DuelingFanjo · 11/04/2010 10:06

I don't know where else to ask this and I don't want to go crashing into the pregnancy section when everything is so early and new... but...

Is it possible I culd have morning sickness this early?

I woke up fine this morning but about 20 minutes ago I had really bad diarrhea and felt very sick. I got hot then cold and felt awful.

Am worrying about ectopic pregnancy but assume I would have bad abdominal pain?

I feel ok now, and I don't mean to moan, but am really worried and just need someone to reassure me that this is probably normal. My period was 5 weeks ago.

DuelingFanjo · 11/04/2010 10:07

Idream Hope the increase in medication helps to grow those follicles. x

Idreaminchocolateprofiteroles · 11/04/2010 10:34

Hi DF,

Thank you!

Not sure about the morning sickness, but I don't think (and other ladies please correct me if I'm wrong on this) it's possible to have an ectopic pregnancy with IVF, as they put the embies straight into the womb. As far as I know I don't think that the embies could escape out of the womb into the fallopian tubes.

Hope you're feeling better soon,

Idream xxxxx

DuelingFanjo · 11/04/2010 10:41

I think there's an increased risk of an ectopic pregnancy with IVF but obviously I am just panicing needlessly. If this is morning sickness then can I just say it's horrendous. Mustn't complain though eh, and if it is then it makes me feel better because my last pregnancy I had no symptoms at all.

Idream how many days until your EC roughly? A lot can happen in a few days, I know I panicked about my Follicles and I ended up with 6 eggs in the end. Everyone here was so helpful in making me feel better.

gleegeekgleek · 11/04/2010 11:07

Duelling - I don't want to panic you but think you should check with your clinic as D&V could be symptoms of Ovarian Hyperstimulation which can flare up in pregnancy. Very unlikely but just in case.

Idreaminchocolateprofiteroles · 11/04/2010 11:14

Dueling just googled IVF/ectopic pregnancy and it does say that's an increased chance - thank goodness you didn't listen to what I said. Feel a bit stupid now . How are you feeling now?

gleegeekgleek · 11/04/2010 11:16

I don't even have an fallopian tubes but they thought I had an ectopic on my medicated FET cycle.

It might just (sorry to use just as I'm sure it must be horrid) be a tummy bug of course but definitely call that clinic.

DuelingFanjo · 11/04/2010 12:19

Am feeling a lot better now.

Gleek I will go and see them tomorrow

sorry to make a fuss, I am such a worrier. Maybe it was a short term bug!

Horton · 11/04/2010 14:26

I think early pregnancy can play havoc with your digestive system. With my first pregnancy, I had constipation, vomiting, nausea and diarrhoea at different times all before I knew I was pregnant. Hope this is all it is, Dueling. And I didn't actually really get morning sickness in the end so no idea what all that was about!

KiwiKat · 11/04/2010 17:37

Duelling, that's FAN-bloody-TATIC! I got a wee bit teary for a moment there, I'm so pleased for you. I was going to say come over to the Old Birds Pregnant thread, but I see that you've already found us. Now we just need to get the rest of this lot over there!

IDream, mine were small too, and I ended up with enough. They seemed to do a list minute spurt, and someone told me to eat lots of protein and drink lots of water.

Am still feeling pretty sick, but DH has taken DS out today so that I can have some bed rest, bless him. Hope you're all doing well. x

Italiangreyhound · 12/04/2010 03:37

Dueling oh no, not a concern about morning sickness already! A quick Google reveals it can start as early as week four. If you are worried talk to your GP. You may need to know what medication, if any, you can use to relieve any symptoms, especially if you have diarrhoea. All the very best, now stop worrying I am sure it will be fine. Look after yourself. (I am expecting an emergency post from Glastonbury asking if staying in a tent is bad for pregnancy!). According to our old friend/fiend the Internet 'Ectopic pregnancy, also known as a tubal pregnancy, occurs when the pregnancy implants outside of the womb. It can occur in several places, eg. the ovary, the abdomen, the cervix, at the join between the tube and the womb (cornua), but the most common place is within the fallopian tube.' I have no idea why there is an increased risk with assisted conception but I understand that there is. Please don?t worry, Dueling, it is still rare. Idreaminchocolateprofiter... don?t worry about saying the wrong thing. I always Google things before I say and yet I?m never sure if what I find Goodling is correct. Some of it is guess work but I had heard before our treatment started long ago that Eptopic was more common with AC. I am sure it is still pretty rare.

Dueling please talk to your clinic about this and if you are able to, please, can you get an early scan to put these fears at rest? Please do try ? not because I think there is anything wrong but because I think you will worry if not!

Horton thanks for remembering Emerald and Laurel, I always try to picture Emerald on my left side and Laurel on my right. I am rooting for them both but I must admit I would be also very happy if just one of them hung around too.

gingerwine , gleegeekgleek and Sgibbo This waiting game is not nearly as easy as it seems! All the best.

Chocobunny I really hope and pray you will find your lining is thickening up and these follicles are getting bigger. All the best, please try some positive visualisation and say to yourself as you fix those rockets ?My lining is thickening, my follicles are growing!? ? just don?t say it too loudly! I have had a small bar of choco a day for the last few days and it is comforting me, once I know what is happening I will get back on the healthy eating track, honest, Amberc.

Cerabina, MercenaryMom, KiwiKat, Londonlottie, Moomaker, Mumatron, RosieBeagle and PenfoldsGlasses best wishes to all.

Spotting continues, not as calm as I sound. Just keep hoping for Laurel and Emerald to make it!

I think this will be my last post as we head off tomorrow.

Waves to chocolate boobs to all.

Italiangreyhound · 12/04/2010 03:41

Mojangles special post for you. All the best. I am thinking of you, I just hope you and Mo are well.

See you all in a week's time.

Arrow prayers and chocolate for all my friend (that means all of you).

gleegeekgleek · 12/04/2010 12:01

Right painkilling suppository deposited up rear end and I'm off for ET now...going to be reunited with one of my 15 (or possibly 17 by now as two were morulas which they thought might catch up by this pm) blasts .

I did joke to the embryologist on the phone that dh and I were trying to break the clinic's record for number of blasts and she said she thinks we might have . What's the betting I get a bfn anyway though.

Feeling so nervous you'd think I hadn't done this before....must go and sup water as I have a bottomless bladder based on past experience.

Hi to all, sorry no personal messages as got to go. Wanted to take Glee music on my new cheapo mp3 player to listen to in ET but the bloody headphones don't work

Idreaminchocolateprofiteroles · 12/04/2010 12:40

Hello!

I had the most public scan ever this morning - a nurse and both consultants. Not many ladies can say they've had 3 people between their legs before 9am on a Monday morning!!

My scan showed slow progress (but at least progress!). It's looking like I have about 3 follicles on each side (an 11mm, a 9mm and a 7mm - matching!) but they have also picked up a "structure" on one of my ovaries that they're not sure what it is. TBH, they didn't seem too concerned, although nothing is growing around it. The nurse said she thought it might be an endometrioma (common name - chocolate cyst of the ovary - can you belive that!!), however the consultant said it wasn't but didn't elucidate any further to what it could be. Next scan is wednesday with guesstimate EC date currently next monday.

Sorry to have been a bit rubbish with personals lately, but I am thinking of everyone here, Italian with her little Emerald and Laurel settling in, 3G and gingerwine on their 2WW as well, Dueling and Kiwikat with their throwing up, PenguinDreams and Cerubina both hopefully coming back to join us shortly, MercenaryMom with all her exciting news, and of course all other ladies xxxxxxx

DuelingFanjo · 12/04/2010 14:39

Good Luck gleegeekgleek

I found the Ipod really irritating when I was having egg collection so didn't bother with it at Egg transfer. You get to see everything on a screen so will probably be too distracted to isten to any music

Idream glad to hear the follies are growing, stay positive.

I haven't thrown up or felt ill since yesterday so I recon I had a bug. Have been up to the hospital to get more Steroids and progesterone and have a scan booked for 29th April.

Italiangreyhound I hope the spotting is a good sign. x

PicknMix · 12/04/2010 15:55

Hiya,

Apologies for gate crashing quite spectacularly....

I'm a bit of a lurker but have come out of hiding as need some quick advice.

Basic history: ttc for 4yrs, have had 3mc, one natural, one clomid and one iui.

Am now on second cycle of IUI but due to bank holiday, wasn't able to have baseline scan and therefore couldn't inject. This means I've had 5 days of 75mg clomid but nothing else.

Had a scan this morning showing only 1 x 18mm follicle.

Fertility nurse has said we can either go ahead with insem on Wed OR just stick with intercourse this cycle so as not to use up one of our IUI tries with the NHS.

What would you do??

My instinct is to stick with intercourse this time and 'save' my IUI for a cycle where there are more follicles and I've had all the treatment.

Gah!

Need to decide as have to do the hCG injection tonight if I do want to have the IUI.

Thanks in advance and again, apologies for gatecrashing!

PnM x

Amberc · 12/04/2010 16:45

Hello everyone - all good news on the thread at the mo so congrats to those with BFPs and to those with mega egg counts! Sorry I have not been around. I will admit it's because I can't handle all the other pregnancies much as I am very pleased for everyone. I will be back though when I am on my next IVF and will certainly be reading up on everyone in the meantime. I am currently on a 2WW for my Clomid cycle (which has such as small chance of success for me I don't kniow why I did it actually but does make me feel like I am doing something!). Good lukc to everyone and I will certainly post if I have anything of interest to report!

PS picknmix - I would wait and go natural for this cycle if it were me - it's only a slightly better chance with IUI than naturally anyway unless you have a majoy problem with your OH's sperm.

capricorn76 · 12/04/2010 18:03

Quick heads up to say that I've already posted this in the First time Frolickers thread so if you read it there, apols.

Sorry I've been missing guys. I did my first round of IUI this month and decided not to go on any fertility websites to avoid becoming obsessed again.

I'll get straight to the point, it shouldn't have worked for reasons I'll go into for a minute....but it did!!!!I got a BFP!!!due on New Years Day!!

The whole thing was farcical. The doctor I had was very unhelpful and assumed I already knew what to do. I only had one follicle of 16mm on day 10 and the doctor assumed that I'd ovulate over the weekend. She said the unit was closed on Sunday so suggested we have sex over the weekend if the OPK came up positive to avoid missing ovulation, which it did on Sat afternooon.

On Monday morning the OPK was still saying I was pre-ovulation so they told us to come in for the IUI. Unfortunately DH and I had sex 5 times between the Sat night and Monday morning (poor thing was a wreck but we were terrified we'd miss ovulation). The nurses said his sperm count was very, very low and because we'd had sex at the wrong time but we all agreed that we only needed one follicle and one sperm so decided to do the IUI anyway call it a dummy run and do it properly next time. We had sex again after as they suggested and kicked ourselves all the way home that we messed it up.

Fast forward to the day before my period, Friday. Had swollen breasts and felt a bit bloated which is how I usually am the day before. Couldn't wait for period so took a test which came back negative Some brown splodge came, all in all textbook pre-menstrual symptoms for me. I stuck a tampon on and assumed my period would come next as normal. Was a bit down about it and it was a nice day so went to the pub after work and drank more than normal. On Sat had tiny spots of blood so took that as my period starting and went to a party, again drank a few cocktails (kicking myself now). Got home removed the tampon and thee was no blood only a tiny bit of brown stuff. I knew then that something was up.

This morning I did a cheap test which had a faint line so I called the hospital and asked them what to do as I wasn't sure whether I needed to book my next IUI in. They told me to take a blood test and it came back positive!!

I'm so excited, although they said that because one of my tubes is dead a twisted and I had a couple of drops of blood I need a second test next week to make sure everythings okay which takes the shine off a little bit but for now I'm pregnant after about 16 months, operation to remove massive fibroid, only one tube, low ovarian reserve, shortish leutal phase and a IUI so shoddy even the nurses wrote it off! The odds were not on my side but I also got the first two horses on the Grand National so maybe I'm on a bit of a streak!

Funnily enough looking back now I honestly believe my acupuncturist suspected something was up on Thursday, 2 days before my period was due. She was acting quite strange.

I'll stop getting myself excited now as I know its very early days.

gleegeekgleek · 12/04/2010 20:57

That sounds quite stressful Capricorn but you know what it's a great story and what a fab thing to have got a bfp after all that.

I think good acupuncturists can tell - something to do with your heart rate.

Pickn Mix did you decide what to do?

Hi to duelling, ginger, Italian, Sgibbo and everyone else.

Well I have one fairly decent - not amazing but not bad at all - blast on board and 16 in the freezer. Enough to mean I never ever have to do a fresh cycle again which is great news. If 16 frozen blasts can't result in a bfp it'll be time to give up.

Shame we can't speed up 2 week waits isn't it...

gingerwine · 12/04/2010 21:59

Welcome to the hellish 2WW 3G. I am so bored already! Still dutifully listening to Zita and imagining so much orange light glowing around me I think I may soon be mistaken for someone from a ready brek advert! Congrats on getting your little blast on board. I have been visualising my 2 embies today and thinking they will hopefully be at the blast stage now. I am meant to test a week on Wednesday. How long for you? Congrats on the freezerful too. Never having to do a fresh cycle is a lovely thought. Hope you have a quiet few days planned.

pickandmix Welcome. I imagine you may have made your decision now but I think I would be tempted not to do the IUI this cycle although Capricorn's story is quite impressive! All the best whatever you go for.

Capricorn Congratulations. Not at all what you expected but a great tale that gives us all hope. Your poor DH. Has he recovered?

Amberc Nice to hear from you and I can quite understand the need for a break. Fingers crossed for your clomid cycle anyway. You never know. Hope you are surviving the 2WW.

Duelling Hope you are all ok now. I would say the most likely thing was a bug. Did you contact the clinic though?

Idream Well done those follies. That must make you feel a bit better I hope. A chocolate cyst!! I think they're sadly full of old blood rather than cadbury's finest though aren't they? At least you have had some pretty senior opinions on your ovaries even if it did feel as if you were putting on a show!! Keep eating that protein.

Italian I know you will be away or packing by now, but hello and hope all is OK.

Just doing my time here. Why does time go so slowly on the 2WW? Even ended up playing on my son's DS game today!

Big waves to everyone else.
