So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

OP posts:
gormers · 02/06/2010 11:29

Ah -takethat, i'm very glad i'm not the only one!

That's what so great about the thread though, you can admit your craziness! And receive the wet kipper slap when needed!!

BrassicaBabe · 02/06/2010 13:17

at takethat's mum

I can't even muster up any pretend symptoms today.

HallieGirl · 02/06/2010 14:29

Hi - can I join as well? Have been lurking, but this is my first post.

Vallinnapod - I think we must have come off the pill at almost the same time - now CD65 and no sign of AF or BFP either ....

Don't have a 'window' just just shagging when we feel like it at the moment - mainly at the weekend. Things that I have read say that waiting up to 3 months after coming off the pill for AF is normal - so think I will wait until July before going to the doctor.

Good to hear about other's experiences. By the way I am 31 and TCC#1.

vallinnapod · 02/06/2010 16:14

HallieGirl - we sound exactly the same. CD65 here too! It's nice to have a companion on this freakishly long wait!

I wouldn't mind (oh, alright then, I would!) but I have had the worst spots too! Normally get the odd one but this is like being 16 again (oh Ok, late teens-early twenties!)!

gormers · 03/06/2010 14:01

Hello my lovelies!

New house keys today, start moving with te car before the big stuff and the movers on saturday!

Does anyone else now have totally different pms symptoms now they're ttc than before ie; symptoms that could also be seen if you were pregnant, buy you're not! Why are our bodies so cruel to our poor minds?!!

Talking of moving, do you think we should re-start the thread? We've got 705 messages (706 now!) and we're getting very very long!x

BrassicaBabe · 03/06/2010 20:13

Congrats for the house move gormers. Stressful eh?

I have no symptoms at all. I reckon I'm a week past ovulation now. I only get sore boobs if I poke them.

Just washing my folic acid down with a glass of wine.

Struggling on the dinner front this evening. Managed to pull together a chicken pasta bake without any of the popular ingredients I found on the net recipes - jars of sauce, cream, creme fraiche, mustard, won't use cheese as I'm watching my weight. It's in the oven now. No doubt it will turn out to the a stodgey tasteless mess. Hey-ho. And as soon as that's eaten and tidyied away I get to start thinking about what we're going to eat tomorrow.

PinkFondantFancy · 03/06/2010 22:09

Awww brassica I think you might have pms or maybe it's the sign you've been waiting for! Sounds like you've had a naff day, hopefully the avant garde bake worked out better than you were expecting. Top tip: campbells condensed mushroom soup makes a brill pasta bake sauce (just tip it on without diluting) and it's low fat too! Reckon your dinner tomorrow should be a big curry takeaway to celebrate your 1 month wedding anniversary (is that right? Can't count!!)

pipistrello · 03/06/2010 22:20

Helloooo! Sorry for such a long silence - work has been spectacularly busy for the last month, but things thankfully seem to be getting on an even keel again, which means I am again able to enjoy sneaky mumsnet moments and also spare some attention for obsessive conception attempts.

Congratulations to the bfp graduates! Well done all of you. Congratulations to brassica on your mariage and impressive shagging. And lfg I'm so sorry t hear your news and hope you are feeling better. Welcome to new arrivals, too.

Still no pregnancy here, despite some really quite reasonable attempts towards it. I'm 80 odd days since my last period, and thinking crossly that I have discovered the downsides to long cycles - fewer opportunities per year to get it right, and no idea when I'm fertile or meant to test. Any other long cyclists around? What do you reckon?

BrassicaBabe · 03/06/2010 23:10

Yep, Vallinna and Hallie are both on about 65-70 days each.

Dinner-gate over and done with I don't often mind doing the cooking. But sometimes it seems like a constant cycle and it's only the 2 of us! It'll be easier tomorrow when I'm working from home and I've got more time to plan ahead.

vallinnapod · 04/06/2010 11:03

Hi Pip - yep CD67 here although not sure it counts as an actual cycle as it was 67 days ago I chucked my pill out. TMI but had the normal bleed after that and nada since!

Just finshed a months worth of agnus castus (sp?) - some herbal crap meant to help regulate things but that seems to have had no effect so won't be adding to Boots's profits by purchasing again!

Reckon I'll get to 90 and then call the docs. If limbs aren't hanging off they look at you like some hyperchondriac at mine!

BrassicaBabe · 04/06/2010 11:14

vallinna I took the agnus cactus thingy. My AF (still hate that term, we need another one!) came back after 6 weeks (42days ish). Hang in there

HallieGirl · 04/06/2010 11:37

I just started on the agnus castus too! I feel the need to be proactive and not much else to do but wait. Not made any difference (has only been a week though).

Can't belive I spent 14 years so carefully taking the pill. Vallinna - did you used to run packets together? I read that if you did it can take longer for it to get out of your body. I used to do it all the time as hate AF (how ironic that now can't wait for it to return).

vallinnapod · 04/06/2010 13:24

Brassica do you secretly work for Boots? sigh will purchase for another month then

Hallie I never ran packs together, well once but I just felt really bloated so never did it again. Bearing in mind the pill gives you a 'fake' period every month I still got all the PMS type symptoms - bloated, sore boobs, the odd spot.

I hear what you're saying about hating getting your period (see, actively avoiding AF and now wanting nothing more (other than a BFP!)

milanomum · 04/06/2010 13:49

Hello everyone! Been away for a bit but those bfps are filling me with hope for this month!

Gormers - good luck with moving house - I have very itchy feet and would love a new place. Last time we did it dh nearly killed himself hiking the fridge up 2 flights of stairs - what is it with men not wanting to pay other men to do stuff for them?

Brassica after that shag-fest there must be hope that those aren't pms symptoms!

I was convinced I was pregnant about 10 days ago... until af arrived of course. gagging on toothbrush, really, really sore boobs... but now I've worked out that my pms symptoms start after ovulation and are pretty much the same as pregnancy symptoms so that's just crap as I'm going to be tormented every feckin' month now until I get the line

frakkit · 04/06/2010 14:09

Well I thought I was supposed to test around next fri but no, apparently not. Irregular cycles suck big time.

Grrr now I feel all grouchy (which I didn't before). Although thinking back I was weirdly tearful this week -everything made me cry - but I was secretly hoping that would be a pregnancy thing.

Hope the move goes well gormers!

I reckon we do need another thread. What shall we call it? 'Not obsessing, just shagging?'

BrassicaBabe · 04/06/2010 14:35

milano 'Fraid shag-fest wasn't at the right time. I think we managed it once aroun day 12-14ish. Crappy on the pg/pms symptoms front.

On another thread I lurked in they refered to AF as Red Tide of Doom I think. Made me smile

knittakid · 04/06/2010 17:39

Just wanted to share this: I've been telling DH about the dangers of hot baths for about 6 months, and he does nothing but ignore me. Last night we watched the first episode of the last series of fraser, in which Niles finds out he has a low sperm count and does lots to remedy it, including not having hot baths. Today, DH says 'I think I'll have a shower'. Moral of the story, don't do what your wife has read in millions of places, just what you see on TV.

30andMerkin · 04/06/2010 22:51

Pished

Different land mass to DH

SOMEONE tell me they understand!

30andMerkin · 05/06/2010 08:08

Oh the shame!

Sorry ladies, I really should know better not to:

  • drink and MN
  • get all sentimental and 'but I want a BABY' (even in privacy of own hotel room) when apart from DH during 'good' days!
  • ever, ever, ever, complain about free champagne!

Am on bizarre work trip, which whilst lovely an'll, ain't exactly great on the timing front. And it's very hard to explain that you don't want to drink very much because at some point about a gazillion miles in the future you might get pregnant. Fair to say I didn't manage it last night!

Fuzzywood · 05/06/2010 08:59

at 30 that was quite tame if pished on free champagne! Though you are correct that complaining about free booze is just wrong hope you and your DH manage to be in the same place at the right time soon.

BrassicaBabe · 05/06/2010 17:39

@ 30. Well done on the free champers!

How are you doing takethat? 5 days until AF due. So far I've got no pg symptoms and no PMT symptoms. It's anyone's guess!

I think I'm going to be staying away with work Thurs/Fri. I'll take a test with me. Tip for All: don't drink from the glasses in hotel bathrooms, you never know what's been in them

Grannyapple · 05/06/2010 19:18

Hey folks! Back from hols & AF due same time as u brassica & takethat, so will try to hold out to 11th too. No real symptoms either way really so can't even symptom spot!! Tho just had a clear out of some old clothes & found myself thinking 'that'll do if pg'-think that's kinda symptom spotting-need to get a grip!

almostknockedupgirl · 05/06/2010 20:06

Hello! Is it alright if I join you ladies? I'm a complete newbie to everything to do with babymaking as my hubs and I recently decided to try for our first. I suppose we're not officially 'trying' yet, as I'm due to have my mirena out on Thursday, but after that all bets are off! And in the meantime, we're shagging like newlyweds anyway. (Nothing like practice... Can't quite get enough...)

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend! I'm off to get pissed while I still can.

almostknockedupgirl · 06/06/2010 19:49

Pretty quiet round these parts today. Guess everyone is off shagging. Or all shagged out. Either way, I should follow the very good example being set...

gormers · 06/06/2010 21:50

Almostknockedup - very funny post; I think you'll fit right in!! Welcome.x

sadly no js for me this weekend. Yesterday, we moved house; then at 5 I had to leave new house to travel 300 miles to do a work exam and am now on the way back. Shagged out, but not in the good way!

Think af is imminent, have that weird feeling of almost looking forward to it so that we can get on with next month's 'trying'! And the new house is bigger, so more rooms that need christening!!
