So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

PinkFondantFancy · 30/05/2010 22:02

I'm going to see Lady GaGa at the O2 tomorrow, v excited!!!

StarflowerGirl · 31/05/2010 07:09

I've had months like that too williamsmummy if it wasn't for my iPod period tracker app I would be none the wiser as to when AF was due to show up.

I'm very jealous pinkfondantfancy I'd love to see Lady GaGa live. I hope you have a great time!

As for me, well I'm very definitely pregnant. I frogmarched my partner (heretoforth known as M) down to superdrug to by a digital test and then rushed home to put it to use. It came up "Pregnant 1-2" as I'd already suspected. Had to laugh though when I showed it to M, he went "what's 1-2 mean?" and I was so very tempted to tell him it was the number of babies!

Anyway, I'm feeling excited, nervous, panicky you name it. Still got some low belly cramps but they seem to be easing off. Oh and morning sickness has kicked in already. I can't even bear the sound of food being chewed.

ljg72 · 31/05/2010 16:10

Congrats Starflower! x

williamsmummy1986 · 31/05/2010 16:42

lol I would have loved to see the look on his face if you had told him that was the number of babies Starflower

takethatlady · 31/05/2010 17:46

Congrats Starflower! And lol at your practical joke - you really should have told him that

Wahey Brassica, we can try and help each other hold out before testing. I'm thinking I will test not this Friday but the next, which will be day 29. Do you think that's too early? I think if I set myself a date that's a little early but not too early I'll actually stick to it. williamsmummy it is the same in our house. I am the least patient person in the world, DH is perfectly happy with delayed gratification lol!

BrassicaBabe · 31/05/2010 23:23

Congratulations Starflower Wonderful news.

Well I've been to bed, can't sleep, got up again and now I'm up catching up with Desperate Housewives. There's no point fighting to sleep when it's not happening.

It's a deal takethat Next Friday 11th it is then. It seemed like an age away, but tomorrow is 1st June, so at least it's on the same calendar page now. This is my first proper two week wait - the mid-cycle bleeding didn't happen this time! So I'm going to be a mad sympton spotter I just know it.

takethatlady · 01/06/2010 08:49

Whoops - Friday 11th will be day 30, I mean. Okay brassica, [holds breath and starts to count] we can make it...

Glad your cycles are returning to normality!

loopeylu · 01/06/2010 09:05

Brassica and Takethatlady - keeping everything crossed for next Friday for you. Don't test too early - I tested on Day 29 and got a BFN (and got lashed that night thinking I was in the clear). Tested again on Day 32 and BFP....Hold off for as long as you can! Keep me posted.

gormers · 01/06/2010 09:20

Sounds like a good idea - picking a date and then testing, otherwise you can test a million times and still be day 21!!

Not my month I don't think, didn't have much of the JS in the 'correct window', and feeling just like I normally would do a week pre-period. Would be due on the 8th, but if by any miracle chance there's nothing by the 11th then I'll test with you too! Seriously though, not this month for us!

Weirdly it's been really nice JS the rest of the month when you know that you're out of the fertile window - seems much more sub-consciously relaxed - guess that's the benfit of JSing!!

Fuzzywood · 01/06/2010 09:33

Congrats Starflower. All appears well here in that I feel flippin awful so must be pg! Just seems odd that the doctor just takes your word for it and doesn't do any tests.
Weather is looking good from tomorrow for all you al fresco jsers!
Takethat and Brassica - setting a test date sounds like a good plan, fingers crossed for you

gormers · 01/06/2010 11:16

Oh Pink, how was Gaga? Would love to see her!I bet it's an amazing show!

StarflowerGirl · 01/06/2010 11:33

fuzzywood I feel flippin' awful too but it turns out I might have a UTI on top of being pg. You're right it does seem weird that everyone just takes your word for it. I know I'd feel a lot more calm if the dr did a test too.

brassica and takethatlady Setting a test date is a good idea. I'm keeping everything crossed for you both!

gormers sorry to hear you think it's not your month. I'm keeping everything crossed for you too though, just in case!

BrassicaBabe · 01/06/2010 11:35

Hmm, feeling sicky this morning. Stooopid! Can't be. Not eaten anything weird either. It must all be in my head. Jees, the next 10 days is going to be hellish!

gormers · 01/06/2010 15:18

Opinions please - Am I too nutty for this thread?! Should I be relegated to the symptom spotters?! ( No offence meant if any of you lurking - those threads are hilarious and so very very true!)

Having posted, with complete honesty, just this morning, that physiologically-speaking it's highly unlikely to be our month to see the BFP, I have since gone mildly loopy!

Felt slightly sick for most of the day, little bit of heartburn too - neither of which I ever normally get. Then read Brassica's earlier post and started trying to put 2 & 2 together and concluding with the inevitable 5! Got to the point where I thought, despite whole-heartedly knowing that it can't be, that maybe I was preggers. And in fact, stopped thinking and started believing to the point of 'knowing'!

Fast-forward 3 hours of thoughts wandering to all sorts of baby-planning. Have now just remembered that breakfast this morning at 6am consisted of a bag of thai sweet chilli crisps, and lunch has been a bag of cadburys clusters! Chuck in a couple of cups of tea, some coffee and a pepsi max and I think I've found the real answer!! Good job I'm nowhere near a shop or I'd have wasted a test on that!

I swear to you, I honestly used to be sane.....

BrassicaBabe · 01/06/2010 15:21

And I think my sickyness is because for unrealated reasons I slept very badly last night and then did the usual 2 hour drive to work. I think my sickyness is just tiredness.

We are both 'nanas!

canoe · 01/06/2010 15:45

Yay! Thanks Frakkin, this is just the kind of thread I need. Hello everyone!

I was lurking a bit on some of the other TTC threads, but everyone there seemed so obsessed and technical about stuff it was pretty daunting.

I came off the pill in January and we've just seeing how it goes, although a lot of that was to do with getting our heads around what having a baby would really be like!

So far, we've just been having sex whenever we feel like it, not really paying attention to cycle lengths, ovulation and all that stuff! But we've just got back from a 2 month break in the UK - we live overseas, and DP said to me on the way home that maybe we should be a more organised about timings and things. I think a lot of that was due to spending time with his nephew who's 1, very cute and has been an incredibly easy baby so far...

I have to say I'm a bit relieved not to be pregnant yet as I'm studying for a masters degree, hoping to be finished by xmas so anytime from now on would suit me in terms of becoming pregnant...

I did buy a book a while ago called what to expect before you're expecting which was quite good for explaining a lot of the pregnancy and conception stuff i didnt know, and was good for helping me understand a lot of the terms people use on here.

Anyway, just thought i'd say hi and explain my situation a bit. Hope you're all well

C

janedoe25 · 01/06/2010 16:20

A BIG congratulations Starflower!

vallinnapod · 01/06/2010 17:02

Hello lovely ladies!

Confession....POAS on Saturday. BUT I did have a good excuse, well not really I had a HUGE hangover and suddenly felt massive guilt 'just-in-case'. Any whos, BFN (quite pleased after all the booze!)

CD64. Don't really want to go back to the docs as everything says 6-12 months until your body gets back to 'normal'. Whatever that is. A girlfriend at the w/e told me it took her over a year to get back to normal after 3 yrs on the pill. With my 11 I should be looking at a BFP sometime short of my 40th....

Happy horizontalness

knittakid · 01/06/2010 17:03

I suppose the proof of not being tottaly mad is that other people feel the same. The first month I stopped the pill I could have put my life on the fact that I was pregnant, much to my embarrasment with DH once that was not the case... 8 months later (8! no way!) and I still don't know any better.

It really is weird to suddenly put this much attention on your body, I can feel so many things that i never even noticed before, like around the time of ov and so on. I also feel nausea very often, which i never new...

Anyway, another thing I've noticed is that around OV I don't want a baby as desperatedly as when Af is due...

Congratulations to Starflower, wishing you the best.

PinkFondantFancy · 01/06/2010 20:13

brassica and takethatlady - I second what loopeylou says as it was exactly the same for me!! Everything crossed for next fri for you!!

Lady GaGa was really good, every bit as weird as I was expecting her to be! Only complaint is that it felt a bit like she was padding her material out to make a two hour show. Lots of costume changes which were brilliant but meant lots of 10 min breaks with not a lot going on. She is a great performer though, and a really good singer and dancer so overall a really good night!!

I thought the 2 week wait was bad but now I'm wishing my life away until July when I get my 12 week scan an get some proof that I haven't imagined the whole thing. I haven't had any sickness, only gone off food a bit (which isn't like me at all!!!) so completely paranoid there's nothing going on in there :S aghgh July feels like such a long time away!!

frakkit · 02/06/2010 07:02

Awww PFF I'm sure you'll be fine. I think I'm due to test around the 11th as well, although I have a weird reverse dread of testing - I have to be forced to because if it's not positive then I know I'm not (weird, huh?).

Welcome, canoe! Where in the world are you? I'm jealous of your 2 month break in the UK. I have to wait until August to go back.

canoe · 02/06/2010 08:07

I'm in Botswana, and we were between contracts for DP's jobs so we scheduled in a bit of a break. It's lovely going to the uk in spring time but i always have to remind myself that it's not always like that!

You sound like you're also overseas, where are you?

frakkit · 02/06/2010 08:11

Not a million miles from you - Indian Ocean, between Mauritius and Madagascar!

vallinnapod · 02/06/2010 10:07

Seriously frakkit and canoe, your gonna have to leave the board before I go all green and increidble hulk like! What fantastic locations!

Still, mustn't grumble, after torrential rain yesterday it is the most beautiful, sunny day in London. Which helps curb my wanderlust...ever so slightly!

takethatlady · 02/06/2010 10:39

Hello people, all action on here! Frakkit, test with us! [reaches through computer screen and twists Frakkit's arm]. I am soooo jealous of those locations. Work may be paying for me to go to South Africa this summer I'm not sure I'll have the time or the additional funds it will cost me to be there Most annoying.....

vallinna I think if you get past 70 days maybe you should go to the docs? I think when people say 'back to normal' it just means getting regular periods - but yours has been going on for ages! i wish there was a tablet you could just take to kickstart things immediately.

Out tonight for a huge work dinner - been on a project for three years and everybody is leaving in August - this is our last dinner together before we all go on holidays and stuff. So sad. And such a temptation to get unbelievably drunk, which everybody will be expecting. Going to stick to wine with the meal and soft drinks after I think.

gormers lol! You're peanut butter nutty imo, but I think that makes you fit right in! I have had daydreams about bringing baby home from hospital, about arguments with my mum in which I tell her it's none of her business how I do x, y or z, about all the gorgeous clothes I can buy before, during and after pregnancy - all on the strength of a couple of hiccups or the faintest tiniest stomach twinge. So you can take your pick of the nuts around here, I think!

Did anybody else do the Big Personality Test on the BBC, linked to the Child of Our Time programme? I came out right at the top of openness and agreeableness (curious, nosey, adventurous, and an insufferable people pleaser - check to all of these), on the border of medium to high for conscientiousness (work hard but occasionally slapdash), and medium for neuroticism and extroversion. I thought this was probably right, and my sister-in-law who's doing a Phd in psychology said the test genuinely was based on the best scientific tests - until my mum did it, and came out low for neuroticism! And told me about it while she was ringing up to check that my relationship with her won't suffer because her sister has been on a date with my dad's friend and to make sure I won't stop talking to her in case she tells her sister stuff my dad has said! Now that really is nuts. I guess it's all about how you perceive yourself, and not what you realy are...
