Shiney new thread before we drop off the end of the last one!

OP posts:
Kayzr · 17/02/2010 17:26

I'm losing weight. I'll start taking folic acid about 3 months before we start ttc.

I'm also tracking my cycle so I know when I ovulate so when it comes to ttc I know what is happening. We are going to try for a girl so it's easier for me to know what's going on. It's not easy though. I need to wake at the same time everyday so the alarm goes off at 5am everyday. Zzzzzzzz

tanmu82 · 17/02/2010 17:31

5am ! I struggle to get up at 6:15....why do you need to wake so early? How does that aid conception?

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 17:35

You need to take your temp at the same time everyday or it's all mixed up. I have to be up for work at 5am 3 days a week so I just set it for 5 everyday and just go back to sleep once I've done my temp.

frakkinaround · 17/02/2010 17:37

I need to put on weight apparently! Hence the getting fit kick cos I figure some muscle mass would bulk me up nicely.

I've considered doing temp tracking. Is it any good?

There's this whole void in my knowledge about conception and pregnancy! Once they're born I'll be fine, I know what to do then, but this whole pre-birth thing scares the knickers off me.

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 17:41

Temp tracking is quite good but you need to do it at the same time everyday or it doesn't work. But it can help pinpoint ovulation.

tanmu82 · 17/02/2010 18:02

frakkin, I'm pretty much the same...there's so much I don't know about conception and fertility. I mean, I know the basics, but I am at a loss when people start talking temps, luteal whatsits and egg white thingy....never mind all the abbreviations. I hopped onto one of the 'buses' and hopped right back off when I realised I hardly had a clue what most of the 'passengers' were on about

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 18:15

I was the same with the boys. I just knew that I was meant to ovulate about day 14 so had lots of sex. It is only because we would like a girl that we are trying to pinpoint it exactly.

tanmu82 · 17/02/2010 18:29

I would love a girl too, so I'd be interested in knowing if this works out for you Kayzr

bebejones · 17/02/2010 19:45

I had a DD & although I wasn't 'trying' we definately only did the deed before I ovulated & not on the day! So maybe it does work!

Anyone else been watching One Born Every Minute on C4? Last night I felt so sorry for the poor MW's with that young girl! What a madam!!!

bebejones · 17/02/2010 19:51

Tanmu - I find the TTC boards scary too!

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 19:55

Bebe, yes!! She was driving me mad!! Her mum did the right thing by telling her she was making a fool of herself. Her baby was gorgeous though.

bebejones · 17/02/2010 20:09

Just posted here

She was so unprepared & had made up her mind she was having an epidural & just wouldn't listen to anyone including her poor petrified DP! Just thought when she pressed the buzzer to shout & demand an epidural seconds after the MW went out of the door to find out about the bloomin epidural was a bit spoilt bratish! She was a different person once she got it though! The baby was absolutely scrummy!

Hello kayzr >waves< . Just popped on here to say we've finally decided to go for #3, and here you are (we were both on the Dec 08 thread). I do temping too - though have been doing it more for prevention recently as we weren't sure if our finances would allow a third.

Just heard today that we've passed the first checks for a remortgage which would release funds to pay for (yet) another maternity leave. I know it's financial suicide but as it's the only way as I am the main earner so we'd be stuck w/o my salary.

Fingers crossed it all goes through!

Hello to everyone else! Exciting times!

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 21:01

Verso!!! Hello!! How are you? You should pop into the dec 08 post-natal thread. Everyone would love to 'see' you.

When are you going to start trying?

Doozie · 17/02/2010 21:04

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this thread. Good luck to everyone ttc!

Quick question... is anybody putting off ttc to avoid having a Christmas baby?

I'm not really in a position to be picky and for my sake I would be thrilled to have a Christmas baby - but I feel for the LO! I don't think they'd thank me for it later. I've read that thread about those with Christmas/NY birthdays feeling very short changed! I've worked out my dates, I'm having IUI and if we go for it in March and were successful, LO would be due 25 Dec!

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 21:11

Doozie my DS2 was born on the 12th December so I didn't avoid having an Xmas baby. My brother's birthday is the 14th and he has always liked it. My parents would buy him a big present once he was a teenager. Like a tv, hi fi etc for his bedroom.

I do think I can understand why people would want to avoid it but I like having a December baby.

bebejones · 17/02/2010 21:19

Doozie - I need to avoid December & January, not just because of Xmas though! Between the 1st Dec & 31st Jan I have:
My Wedding Anniversary
Best friends Birthday
MY DH's best friends birthday
Xmas
SIL Birthday
New Year
FIL's Birthday
Uncle's Birthday
DH's Birthday
MIL's Birthday!

Adding any more in there would just be a nightmare!

Fingers crossed for your IUI

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 21:22

Bebe, that is very busy. In December I have SIL birthday, DS2's, Brothers Fianceé and then my brothers birthday. All in 4 days.

bebejones · 17/02/2010 21:29

Kayzr - that must be a real nightmare present wise! I find it dreadful thinking of stuff for DH for xmas then his Birthday less than a months later!

Most Birthday's in our family seem to fall between Novemeber & March, rest of the year is quite quiet! Maybe DH & I will just have to fill in the gaps!

OP posts:
Kayzr · 17/02/2010 21:32

I have March and December which is why I would like the next one to be due between May and October so they are fairly spread out.

bebejones · 17/02/2010 21:41

I ideally wouldn't want to have another DC within a month of DD's birthday. Plus she is August & I feel a bit sad that as she gets old she is likely to find most of her friends are on holiday for her Birthday. Think there are probably downsides to every month though if you thought about it enough! Wanted to 'aim' for October/Novemeber & failing that Feb-June....wishful thinking probably, nothing is every that straightforward is it!!

OP posts:
Kayzr · 17/02/2010 21:44

No it isn't. I think if it gets to the point that we've been trying for ages I won't care about when the baby is due.

tanmu82 · 17/02/2010 22:45

I would rather not have a winter baby period. That said, I don't think it would be something that you could ever regret as such......as with every other preference, a healthy baby is actually the only important thing

PandaSam · 17/02/2010 23:02

My mum's birthday is xmas eve and about 15 years ago we all agreed that she should change it to the 24th June - so she could enjoy summer parties etc!

Worked really well - she loves having two birthdays. Friends and immediate family only buy presents/celebrate the June but her mum and brothers still celebrate the dec one.

I was born in May and personally love it! The weather has been gorgeous on my birthday as long as I can remember and its usually on or near a bank holiday.

frakkinaround · 18/02/2010 05:36

I'm aiming for between Feb and July as baby will prob have to deal with 2 education systems - Britain goes sept to sept and France follows the calender year. Big no-no being born between sept and dec so building in a bit of leeway for an early/late baby and hoping for the best.

Having said that if it happened any other time I'd be happy just to have a baby!
