Shiney new thread before we drop off the end of the last one!

Girls are hard work...well my girl is!! All the baby boys I know are so chilled & easy going!

Was really into the gender influencing idea when we started discussing TTC over a year ago!! But now I just want to have a baby, but I know DH would dearly love a DS, think most men do want a boy don't they? We had hoped that DD was going to be a DS, and whilst she is a comlete tomboy she is most definately lacking certain parts & will therefore not be playing rugby...I put my foot down! Only another year til she can start ballet!

JustShaggingForNow · 09/07/2010 10:28

My sister was very much the toyboy in our family. My parents are farmers and had 2 daughters so I am sure that my Dad must haev been a teeny bit dissappointed to start with but she has now taken on a lot of the business and is doing an amazing job!

I am sure all men want sons (something about having a mini-me) but interesting to hear that little boys are much easier than little girls..... at least until they hit puberty!!!

bebejones · 09/07/2010 10:41

From what people have said to me girls are trickier babies (please don't quote me) but when they get to toddlers it all evens out a bit. Personally I think it probably depends more on the childs personality, genes & upbringing. DD was very wriggly when I was pregnant & didn't ever do much of the newborn sleeping thing. She didn't cry much, just was always alert & wanting entertaining!

I love the fact she is a bit of a tomboy (I am not very girly, although have my moments) she is happiest at Grandads farm in wellies digging potatoes & also loves spiders and snakes! She pushes boys about twice her age/size & generally takes no prisoners! Feisty, but definately needs a sibling to keep her in check I think!

Biscuits - are you starting TTC today? Or aat least NPP?

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 09/07/2010 11:55

oooooh Biscuits - very exciting.
She's probably still in bed ;)

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 09/07/2010 13:24

No no, Biscuits is trying not to think about it. I must remember to take some ibuprofen before I go out. Dr appt in just over an hour. Only just gotten DS to have a nap and have to get him up again soon so can drop him off with a friend. No way is DS coming to the great unplugging. Ekkk. Can't believe I'm going ahead with it!!

JustShagging, I wish I was still in bed at midday!

NoMoreChocBiscuits is thinking abot changing name to LotsMoreChocBiscuits for the afternoon, but knows if she does will just feel fat and unsexy. Not good for TTC! Please someone eat lots of choc for me this afternoon.

bebejones · 09/07/2010 13:29

It is a TTC milestone!! Will sniff some chocolate for you, couldn't possibly eat any after all the ice cream last night!

Nurse told me at my smear yesterday that a woman came in last week for her smear & brought her 3 & a half year old DD with her!! Said the girl kept asking what was going on & wanting to look!!!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 09/07/2010 14:17

I think I have just eaten enough chocolate and ice cream for all of us. Itsu's frozen youghurt machine was broken (they must be kicking themselves on a day like today!!) and so i had to pop into the newsagents for an icecream instead. Just finished a double caramel magnum and feel a little sick!!

When did Magnum's get smaller and more expensive? I just paid £2.50!!!!!

only another 2 hours in the office to get through until the weekend - hurrah!! What are you ladies up to this w/e??? x

LMAO at DD wanting to look during the smear -she has all that to look forward to in years to come!!!

bebejones · 09/07/2010 15:05

Maybe the DD will be a nurse!

£2.50 for a Magnum...was it covered in gold leaf?!

I had a smoothie lolly & 2 almond slices...feel a little sick now too!

No plans for the weekend here, is set to be a scorcher apparently we shall see! Might try and persaude DH to get some...ahem.. 'practise' in! Might also paint the garden wall if it isn't too hot...oh the glamourous life I lead!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 09/07/2010 15:41

That is what my weekends are usually like (painting and general housework and DIY) but this weekend I am being quite glam for once! Off to the Polo and then a big 30th Bash.

Hurrah to "practicing" with hubby - We're staying in a hotel for the 30th so I'm digging out the wedding night lingerie for the night (providing I'm still sober enough to get into it after a day drinking at the polo and the party afterwards!!)

Sadly the Magnum was not covered in gold leaf.... on the positive side, it has not put me off both chocolate and ice-cream as I feel revoltingley sick!!!

nannyl · 09/07/2010 17:08

bebejones I am hoping for an October 2010 baby too

i have 1 more month left of pills then dosing up on folic acid etc from aug and OH zinc, reducing caffine alcohol etc etc before TTC after Xmas

Im so excited and cant wait,

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 10/07/2010 08:13

My plans for the w/e are attempt to get DS to sit still for a haircut, then trudge off to the chemist in the rain for ibuprofen for my poor stomach. Then spend the next 4 days looking forward to having my fanjo poked at again because the ruddy GP couldn't ruddy well pull my ruddy IUD out because she only had a ruddy disposable forcep thingy because GPs are generally abouve ruddy fanjos. Ruddy British health system. The more I have to deal with it the worse I like it. Hope I never get really sick. And did I mention it's ruddy well raining while down south your all basking in the ruddy heat and sun and complaining it's to ruddy hot? RUDDY!

Hope you all have a w/e though.

bebejones · 10/07/2010 08:50

Biscuits that sucks you poor thing! Although I would love some rain! Had 1.5 hours sleep last night as was too 'ruddy' hot! DD was not happy, she wasn't even that bad as a newborn!

Do you have to go back to the GP to get it removed or is someone else going to do it?

OP posts:
NoMoreChocBiscuits · 10/07/2010 10:17

Have to go to the family planning clinic, which is aparently walk in twice a week, but I'm giong to call first because damned if I'm going to turn up to be told I should have made an appt. The GP actually did a double take when I said what I was there for!

I'm from NZ and have lived in Australia, so rather miss the heat sometimes. Might have to go for hot chocolate this afternoon. That doesn't count as chocolate or biscuits does it?

bebejones · 10/07/2010 11:36

No definately doesn't count!!! It's not so much the heat that is bad at the moment it's the lack of air & horrid humidity, just feel like I can't breathe & the rotten steroids & my other drugs raise my body temp anyway so feeling v sorry for myself!

I would ring in advance if I was you too, I've been caught out by stuff like that before & you don't want to have to be arranging childcare more than once. Is the healthcare system in NZ very different to here?

OP posts:
bebejones · 10/07/2010 11:37

Meant to say - Nannyl, we can be October 2011 buddies then!! Fingers crossed!

OP posts:
nannyl · 10/07/2010 12:44

we can (clearly in mhy first post i meant oct 2011 lol)

am sitting here watching clear blue fertility monitors on ebay... determined to get a bargain one lol

fingers crossed for us both

bebejones · 11/07/2010 09:11

Haven't even thought about getting a fertility monitor but then AF can be a bit irratic & have heard that they are not good in that case? Hoping that when I stop my meds things will settle back down a bit again. Nurse this week didn't seem to concerned when I talked to her about it! Hope you manage to get a bargain!

Feeling sleep deprived again, just can't switch my brain off & sleep, don't think the steroids help! Oh well, all good practise for having a newborn again & having to deal with a toddler on 4 hours sleep!!

OP posts:
nannyl · 11/07/2010 10:11

i really have my heart set on an october baby (and another 16 months ish later the following feb - april)

i want to do EVERY thing possible to help myself get pg in Jan!!! my theory is once i have used it ill put it back on ebay again, and get back what i paid

just one more month left on the pill then its get body in tip top condition ready to concieve in jan, fingers crossed!

bebejones · 11/07/2010 10:53

Ideally for me I need to get PG as quick as I can as this will help me stay healthier for my PG. I know that sounds odd! But essentially the longer I am off my MS meds the more chnace I have of getting poorly. Although that isn't saying much as I am on them and poorly at the moment anyway!! If I miss my 'window' of oppurtunity to have a Sept/Oct/Nov baby (ideally would like an Oct baby like you) then I will have to wait a bit to TTC a Feb-June baby!

What pre baby plans do you have for your tip-top condition? Anything I can 'steal'?!

OP posts:
NoMoreChocBiscuits · 11/07/2010 11:11

Okay I've self medicated on Green and Blacks and am in a far better mood now.

BB the NZ health system is actually much like the NHS (think the NHS was based on our free healthcare system, but don't quote me on that). I'm just finding there is more red tape here and the some of the Drs I've had to deal with in the last few weeks quite abrupt and dismissive. Guess I just expect a better bedside manner and for GPs to do more than just handball you along to this or that waiting list.

Oh I'm up for stealing a few getting in tip-top baby making condition tips! I'm trying (and slooowly succeding) to lose a few kgs and am on those babymaking vitamins.

bebejones · 11/07/2010 12:11

Biscuits - IMO good GPs are hard to find! I think mine is fab & will be really upset when he retires! Although saying that most of the GPs at our surgery are very good. Guess I am just lucky!

Will be starting special prenatal vits when I stop my jabs in Sept. I'm taking normal multivits, iron, Glucosomine, Omega 3 & Evening Primrose oil at the moment. Not sure which ones I can carry on with before TTC, will have to speak to GP. I will switch to prenatal multi vits coz they don't have the vit A in which isn't good in large doses in PG. Hopefully when this relapse subsides I can start getting back into some light exercise again, starting to feel a bit wobbly in the middle again!

OP posts:
nannyl · 11/07/2010 17:45

bebe

good luck... sounds like you really need to pick your moment and i do hope it all works out for you

I dont im doing any rocket science things...

simply plain old boring folic acid as soon as i stop my pill in Aug...
will switch to pregnancy multi vitamin in October and pregnacare conception from December.
OH will be taking zinc from Aug and taking wellman conception from December.

Neither of us smoke at all, and we hardly drink anyway so thats not an issue. I will just drink nothing although maybe one or 2 on Xmas day?

Going to limit caffine and switch to decaff... normally only have max 1 cup of week tea or coffee a day any way...

and eat really well and avoid Vit A foods, ie liver and pate, try and fit in a bit more exercise

Will be monitoring my cycle as it returns to normal (ie hope) after being on pill... and get a CBFM for when its time to try!!!

and hope for the best

AmandaCooper · 11/07/2010 18:25

Hi everyone. Had a really lovely day yesterday on our 1st wedding anniversary, but over dinner when the subject of children came up, DH said we absolutely must wait another 2 years and that if we went ahead in December, I'd basically be having to do everything on my own because he was going to be too busy with work to be able to give me any proper support. So he wants me to agree to wait and not to ttc for another 14 months.

So I think I may have to leave this thread for a while, maybe stay off mn altogether, and try to focus on other things. 14 months is a very long time, particularly on top of all the time I've already been waiting - and I don't think it will help to dwell on things day after day. I'm very worried and sad to be even thinking of leaving it until I'm 34, but what else can I do?

bebejones · 11/07/2010 18:28

All seems very sensible to me!

It makes it sound very dramatic me having to fit things in after having meds & before I might get poorly. But actually it sounds worse than it is & I am very lucky that I have hardly any symptoms, and none that anyone would notice, the steps I have done this year with weight loss & lifestyle change are, I'm sure, partly responsible for that! Wasn't doing anything really to help my MS was just trying to use all this waiting time to get fit for TTC!

I don't drink tea or coffee anyway so I don't really have issues with caffeine. Hardly ever drink as I am always driving (DH doesn't drive) so giving up the booze isn't an issue for me either! Exercise is just so tricky to fit in with a 'helpful' toddler! Must try harder!

Is your OH willingly taking the daddy vitamins? Not sure mine will be too keen, but feel it is important this time. Need all the 'help' we can get!

X post AC

Sounds like that was a bit of a turnaround, maybe it is just the jitters again? Hope you can resolve things. Understand completely if you need to stay away for a bit! Hope you sort everything out soon!
