Thought I'd get a new thread started as we seem to have run out of space

Let's hope this one brings us all lots of luck!

Brook - sorry to hear that. I'm 7dpo and am not even going to test this month, as expecting BFN.

Interesting to hear your story LadyThompson, thanks for the encouragement.

I agree - we need more BFP's.

Lucy - AF stands fro Aunt Flo (period) on this site. .. somewhere there is a list of all the abbreviations that I read.

I have not used ovulation sticks, but I will tell you what I know about the CBFM so you can compare.

CBFM is about £55 on amazon. Then you need sticks each month - £13 for 20 (amazon). You use it every day of cycle, but only 10 or 20 sticks each cycle depending on how long your cycle is. The first month you press the button on it as soon as period starts (day 1 of cycle), then around day 6 it asks you to use a stick, put it in machine and it records whether it is a LOW, HIGH or PEAK day. Recommended to bd on High and Peak days.

I used 20 sticks the first cycle, as it learnt about me and now use 10 sticks (a 28-31 day cycle). For me benefits are: I always know what day of my cycle I am on, I can target bd, ensure not miss important days etc, taken stress out for me (not saying it will work though!!)

Yes, it is expensive - then I thought "how much is a baby worth to me?" 12 months just ttc, no costs - now throwing everything at it (got to be cheaper than fertility treatment and worth a shot): so CBFM and its sticks, pre-seed, now softcups (temping will be next I guess!)

I thought about what I spent on other things and changed priorities. But that is me, my story. I guess if you get a machine and it works you can sell on ebay and recoup some cost??

lucy temping is charting your basal body temp over several cycles, there is a slight rise in temp once you have OVed - there are websites, like fertility friend, where you can store this info and over a few months you can work out when you have oved and plan sex accordingly! it doesn't predict ov cos the temp rises after ov but lets you know when it happens. that sounds more confused than i intended! anyhoo.

re the CBFM - you have to start using it from first day of period.

still no af for me but DEF not preggers so wish it would hurry the feck up.

Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to fill you in on the lovely day I had yesterday. I had my first Doc?s appointment! She had a little smile on her face when I went in, like she knew (I think she?d checked my notes) what I was going to say. She was so happy for me and really tried to put me at ease. Now that reality has set in, I?m really scared about anything happening; it feels like I?m on the 12WW!
Anyway, I got a welcome pack and she told me that she wants to do my 6 week check-up appointment after the birth to meet my baby! I added ?or babies!?

I phoned the midwife and my first appointment is 5th March, they were great too, especially when I told them my TTC history.
Next I phoned my fertility clinic to say hopeful I?m not coming back. They all know me up there and the secretary sounded like she was welling up and of course that set me off! And the icing on the cake was; I have a free early scan as part of my fertility treatment which is in 3 weeks. We should be able to see the heart beat/s by then! Hope I can get photos.
I'm praying you all know what this feels like really soon, you all deserve it soooo much!!!!

Lucy - I?ve used fertility friend to record my temps for years. It?s very helpful, you can also record your monitor readings on it too. Check it out.

Salander - Sorry to hear it?s not your month, I hope you can get started on your next cycle so.

Keziah - Good luck!

Shaggy - Thanks for the congrats. How are you doing?

Brook - Yes more BFP please!!!! I?m staying put until we?ve all got them!!

salander · 06/02/2010 10:41

vikks, awwww thats lovely! sooo nice that everyone so supportive.

Nanny01 · 06/02/2010 11:38

Just a quick question but now on the second day of peak fertility according to the monitor, but how long should we keep bding intensively. Lol.
Managed this morning and two days ago couldn't pursuade dh yesterday as he finished working 14 days straight and was shattered. Just wondered how this whole thing works feels like I am cramming for some test with ttc. Also I got my peak later this month than last month so I guess I won't be able to test as soon either. Normally a 28 day cycle last month 26.

Well done vikks on the BFP I am hoping that more of us can join you soon.

OOOOO YEY! (Barrenbrook raises a glass of something alcoholic in toast to Salander) (in the smugness that she can drink and Salander can't)

Faboolus news matey, chuffed to bits for you too.... who's gonna be next!!?

Keziahhopes · 09/02/2010 22:25

Ooh - congratulations salander - how this thread has changed!! What an amazing valentine's card/day you will have.

I am 11dpo, but been good and not tested (a first!) and am not going do, as expect AF by weekend.

cyncan · 10/02/2010 04:48

woooow!! Salander what great news.. really this thread has really changed. I think I am now the oldest poster here. I hope I have good news for all of you soon!!!

Baby dust to all.

Nanny01 · 10/02/2010 12:34

salander
Congratulations ;giving him the results on Valentines day will be a picture you should film it to show the baby when he or she is older.
What day did you test? I am in a real dilemma this month and could test probably on the 14th would be so sweet to give dh his card with a positive test in to. Do you have anys symptoms yet? I hope there will be a few more bfps on here. Oh forgot to ask how many cycles did you use your cb monitor for.

salander · 10/02/2010 12:40

Thanks again all for good wishes.

nanny - think using the monitor for about 7-8 cycles? didn't always manage to shag on right days cos of work and stuff hence prolonged saga! symptoms wise i have had a banging headache for about 6 days and feel a bit knackered but not much else. tested at 15 days post-ov. still keeping fingers crossed

lucy figners crossed for you

vikks once i am more convinced it is all real will indeed visit the antenatal thread! hope you're ok

brooky have a gin or 3 on me

cyncan how are you?

salander · 10/02/2010 12:41

kezia meant to say well done for holding out! fingers crossed the dreaded does not arrive

LoopyLally · 10/02/2010 13:16

Hi all. Am new to this so hoping to get a bit of support. I,m 41 so a bit older and have been TTC for 10 years now. I have a 19 yr old daughter. Unfortunately my ex husband was sterile which caused lots of heartbreak and then he left.I,m with my soulmate now who has a high sperm count! I have a good egg reserve but my age is against me. Bought CBFM and on second cycle ov'd on 12/13 so did the deed, due AF next 2/3 days. Feel a bit crampy so not expecting much, however the CBFM did indicate i ovulated earlier in my cycle than expected. Going to have a laparoscopy/salpingoscopy soon so hoping that the results might tell me if there are any probs. Feel quite low at the moment as every month that goes by gives me less hope due to my age. Good luck to us all!

Keziahhopes · 10/02/2010 19:44

Hi LoopyLally - as you can see two people here recently had good news, a BFP!! So hope you will find yourself having one soon.

Not that it helps, but I know someone who had a home birth aged 41 (having had a child aged 21 and 31)!! Hope using the CBFM will help you realise when you conceive - mine has altered slightly each month, which I would never have realised. Great you had good results from bloods and partner's SA, hope the lap/sal test helpful for you (not had them YET!)

Well I held off, thanks Salander - and surprisingly AF has come 12 dpo, the earliest ever, on CD 26!! So, end of Feb here I come GP, requesting a referral to fertility clinic - having ttc#1 after 18months! Typical the one month I don't test AF comes early!!
