I'm holding hands with ski and casp - we're soooo close - surely at least one of us must have caught?

CurlyCasper · 09/11/2009 16:23

blood results finally back - and no action required whatsoever! Guess that means I am in with a chance after all...

Did I say I would hold off testing till Thursday?

PollyPoo · 09/11/2009 17:10

That is great news Casp!

Off to work now... ho hum. Catch u BESHies tomorrow.

ChoChoSan · 09/11/2009 17:10

Igglepiggle, I am now 38 years barren, but I have been called in for treatment THIS WEDNESDAY due to my super voluptuous bouncy castle womb, and my single, yet Ruben-esque follicle.

This is something of a coup for me because I have a short luteal phase usually, and this treatment will take place on CD13...v early given I don't OV 'til later in the month.

So from Wednesday I shall just be gliding around the palace, smiling beatifically, and taking pity on you all, in the sure knowledge that my loins are bearing fruit. This will continue until 14DPO whenI start getting babyfail poasticks, and I come hurtling back to earth with the grim statistics spiralling through my mind...

HawaiianCuntShine · 09/11/2009 17:43

Chocho your ebs and flows seem very familiar, I'm currently on the upswing and shall slowly gain altitude until mid next week, then slowly freefall upon weesticks laughing at me! (can't... think... about... that.. right now...) All the best of luck for your super-juicy follicle!!!

As for us in the US of A --- we like taking care of ourselves (whenever we possibly can) rather than the government doing it for us. For those who are old, disabled and broke we have Medicare and for the average people - "free" healthcare will be anything but FREE! I want to IMPROVE healthcare, not have the government in between me and my doctor. love you - rant over

Ok - I'm down to 2 hours 45 min of waiting now...

CurlyCasper · 09/11/2009 18:05

treatment excitement all round!

Might have to let go of your hand carrots, went to the look and upon investigation found traces of pink, which will no doubt turn red overnight. I don't usually get a lead-up, and it's too late for implantation Looks like I will yet again be denied an opportunity to test...

CUNextTuesday · 09/11/2009 18:08

But, and this is a serious ask not a fight-starter I promise, do you not feel vulnerable having an insurance company decide whether you can have scans or therapy or jabs or whatever, rather than it being wholly based on clinical need? I had a convo with an ex-pat American friend of mine, and he told horror stories about insurance companies deciding that the cost/benefit wasn't worth some treatments that would prolong life/quality of life, etc. Admittedly only one POV but he was quite vehement (and he is very smart and not a revolutionary so I trust his judgement on these things!. He worships our healthcare provision by comparison.

The NHS is not perfect by any means, but to have comprehensive healthcare, free at point of delivery for everyone whether or not you can afford it or not, is a truly wonderful thing. The government have to fund it, and where there are things that are too ridiculously expenive to fund then people still have the option to go private. I just cannot see how the American system beats that.

Like I say, my opinion. Worth notmuch at the best of times, but something I feel quite passionate about, being one of yer socialists and that.

Happy Birthday Sanpro - and well done on your luxury boutique womb and fabulous potential guest

Curly - things are sounding good for you, huzzah and 'C3PO-AS' made me bellow with laughter: it HAS to be the new saying round here. You are just too fabulous, you know

Not trying to rock any boats (for once), but must add that I wholeheartedly concur with Cunty about the NHS Vs American system. I wouldn't want to live somewhere that didn't expect other people to be caring and supportive of their fellow humans; sorry, but I can't abide that 'I'm sorted, so sod everyone else if they can't get their act in gear as well as I have' attitude (not saying this is Cuntshine's). And surely the money you would pay on taxes towards free healthcare for all would be the same or less than you would pay towards giant evil faceless insurance companies for personal health insurance that, as Cunty pointed out, can refuse to pay for your treatments anyway! I genuinely, literally cannot understand how people can think free healthcare for everyone in society is anything but brilliant.

Still, am glad Cuntshine's insurance peeps have shelled out for her baybee-dethawing treatment. Go freezer beezers!

PS VAG, Ski is right - you look HOT in that new pic, girl! I think you've turned me proper lesbotic [leer]

Scorpette · 09/11/2009 18:32

Gah, sorry Curly - your pinkness arrived before I refreshed the page. Any chance you can tell yourself it's an implantation bleed for a while? [nervous encouraging smile]

givecarrotsachance · 09/11/2009 19:37

casper Oh NOOOO. Waiting for update on your knickers tomorrow. Why isn't there a "worried" emoticon?

scorp, cunty, cuntshine - I'm afraid I'm with the UK goyles here. My sister lives in the US and she has a treatable but uninsured disease which she is rapidly deteriorating from but can't afford treatment. For various family reasons she can't move back here unless she did so alone... she's basically stuffed. DH lived in the US for many years and at one point was temporarily unemployed=uninsured. When asked if he wanted to go skiing he just said, "are you mad?". Despite having paid a LOT of tax to the US government over 10 years if he broke a leg he'd be bankrupt. Or if he got run over by a bus. This is the experience of many US citizens every day.

I would be happy to see an alternative to the NHS which works. I'm not saying that the only way is the NHS way. But the US system is absolutely brutal and inhumane.

Even my nieces who are American are only basically insured as that's all they can afford, with high excesses. Recently one was treated for something and her parents had to pay an excess of $1000. How many of would like to find that immediately and out of the blue?

It is absolutely shocking that one of the wealthiest countries in the world has one of the most expensive - and yet least efficient medical service where people die every minute of every day because they are turned away for not having the money to pay.

I am eternally grateful for the NHS. In the UK we have the option of going private, as in the US, but EVERYONE has excellent and decent treatment no matter what their personal circumstances. That shows a country dedicated to its people, a humane country where everyone matters no matter what their income and background. Thank you Government for interfering with my healthcare.

CUNextTuesday · 09/11/2009 20:28

If I was cuntshine I would be feeling a bit ganged up on, although I know that is not what we all meant to do. I don't even think it's necessarily a patriotic thing or defending the NHS because it's 'ours' (hope I'm not wrong!)

I'm not thrilled generally with government interference and I do think this government has been worse than most for it, nannying us into a corner. However, I gladly give away a large proportion of my income every month, safe in the knowledge that in exchange for no hard cash on the door I can:
a) get a GP appt within 24hrs
b) saunter into a local Early Preg Unit and have myself scanned because I feel anxious due to 2 previous mc's
c) suggest to GP a treatment for something non-medical (i.e. basically cosmetic - excessive blushing) that has recently been trialled, and be referred to that consultants clinic for said novel treatment within 1 month
d) Go to new docs, first GP appt 'Am Pregnant' - 'fill these 2 forms out' - 'thanks, you will have 10 scheduled appts between now and due date, plus any intermediates if you want reassurance an ring the midwife service ANY TIME'

oh etc. etc. My whole family thanks the NHS from the bottom of our hearts for variously keeping us all alive, or giving us dignity in death, without having to worry about the bill

NHS=good. No NHS=bad.

Just wondered, does anyone know a shit hot business lawyer? If so, if I can ever get back into the other place can you give me details?

In fact, are any of you shit hot business lawyers? That would be so great .

ginhag · 09/11/2009 20:59

But ganging up on someone=bad obviously.

And as usual I'm too fucking tired to debate effectively. Or at all.

So I shall declare my big big non lezzer love for all the lushes instead. Mmmwah.

ginhag · 09/11/2009 21:01

That was very well put cunty I'm going to pretend I said it.

ginhag · 09/11/2009 21:07

I shall tell you a true story about life before the NHS: My Dad had a little brother who died in 1945, ostensibly because my Gran couldn't conjure up the cash required in an emergency to get him treated. Because of his disability, my Granddad couldn't fight in WWII, so was made to give up his well-paid job to do 'essential work' down a pit (which he was happy to do). However, this meant that the family had very little cash. As soon as my Dad's little brother became ill, my Gran rushed with him to the nearest Drs, running through the snow with him clasped to her chest. They refused to see him because she didn't have enough money. She ran to another one - same story. Another one - same story. He died in her arms as she ran to a fourth.

Now, it turned out he had meningitis, which he would probably died of anyway, but if a Dr would have seen him, that would've been some sort of 'closure' for my Grandparents. The reason why I know this story so well is that she has never got over it and talks about it often (probably obsessively), as did my Granddad - the Drs refusing to help a 2 year old simply because she wasn't rich enough is what torments her (and tormented my Granddad) more than the actual death.

There isn't a tax high enough I wouldn't pay to make sure this sort of thing never happens again. I know children die of meningitis because of useless/overworked Drs, but at least they have been seen.

Sorry to be so grim, and I'm in no way doing the ganging up thing, I just wanted to emphasise why the NHS is so vital. It is something that we should rightfully be proud of.

CUNextTuesday · 09/11/2009 21:30

There is so much that's horrific about that story scrope, but just to pick out one thing: can any of us imagine today being plucked from our jobs to do something that is much much lower paid such that you can no longer afford to provide basics for one's family? There would be civil war.
