Actually now I feel guilty using up the last post of the thread - hope this will do as a continuation

OP posts:
ILoveGregoryHouse · 04/11/2009 16:51

Hiya hippy, that's a good idea - maybe just update whether we're in the BD or 2ww phase?

Am feeling bit better now. Have opened the sauv blanc and DH (who is in doghouse for complaining about the ttc girl method - no fun apparently) is putting boysies 1 and 2 to bed. Can I tell you funny story about my darling DS3 (15 months old). He was at my side one second while I was preparing dinner and then disappeared. Got a bit panicked and then heard giggling from under the dining room table - he was deliberately hiding and watching me looking for him. He's a minx. And my friends wonder why I want another!

mabh · 04/11/2009 17:19

ilove someone knows how to pull mummy's strings

My CBFM has just arrived! Yay! Now I can work out whether I ovulate

mabh · 04/11/2009 17:21

... and it needs 4 tiny batteries that I don't have! Bah

KiwiKat · 04/11/2009 21:35

Had a huge fight with DH this morning, which I attribute to me being on clomid and him being a dick, and now he's sulking, drinking lots of wine - not supposed to be drinking at all due to imminent IVF - and not talking to me, and I've gone to bed. Can't decide whether I'm furious or just sad that we'll probably miss this cycle as well. I want this SO MUCH that it's starting to overshadow everything I do, and is certainly impacting very negatively on our relationship.

KiwiKat · 04/11/2009 21:36

Annoying about the batteries, Mabh.

rowingboat · 04/11/2009 22:07

Hi everyone,

Hippy top idea, no more CDs - wasn't really paying attention to them anyway, I just cut a pasted an old list with them on.
2WW and the other thing - BDing or 2W No Wait.

ILGH sorry to hear about AF, but it is early days as you say. Lots of stuff to look forward to as well.
Your DS sounds like a little pixie. It's funny how they work out stuff like hiding.

Mabh you had me laughing at your two posts. You sounded so excited...and then so deflated. Typical isn't it! [rolls eyes]
We got a cheapo version of operation from DS's little nursery mate, got it all set-up and...you guessed it! At least it only requires AA, nothing more obscure.

Kiwi aaaah you sound so fed-up. I wish I could give you a gigantic hug and take you out for a nice meal or something.
It really is getting to you isn't it! I know it's absolutely poo, and have been there myself.
Do you think you could give yourself a month off and do lots of nice and relaxing and forbidden things to allow yourself a step back and time to regroup.
I don't recommned going into IVF feeling very stressed, it takes a lot out of you physically and mentally. Perhaps you could try one of Beaufies CDs?

I'm a bit cough, cough and bleuch, but I think things are finally improving, taking it very very easy, which is nice.
DS is totally skiving off nursery, but he does have a cold.

mabh · 05/11/2009 09:23

Kiwi really sorry to hear about last night. Just what you need.

You could take Rowing's advice and give yourself a month off. Or if not, do remember that lots of women seem to get pregnant when someone has been drinking. I know you need to optimise your chances, but don't write them off. He is bloomin' annoying, though. Men do seem to like to revert to childhood when pee'd off. And not believe their sperm quality can be affected by anything .

Whatever you do, you certainly need a treat. Night out with friends? Trip to beauty parlour? New book?

Blimey rowing that bug is lingering, isn't it? Definately the right thing to take it easy.

Off to get my batteries this afternoon, so I can finally kick off my clever monitor tomorrow - nick of time as apparently you need to start it by CD5. I should be glad I got in time at all, I suppose, given postal issues and all.

Hope everyone else is well.

rowingboat · 05/11/2009 12:42

Ooo you must be quite excited to have a new gadget Mabh.
I just want to use this face because I have just noticed it on the emoticons list.
I think MN could add a couple of extra faces, like a rolling eyes or waving or smug or something, there isn't that much choice in the way of smileys.
Over of Fertility Friends there are just far too many, but a nice middle ground would be better.

mabh · 05/11/2009 13:24

I've just had a caramel chocolate one. That's the diet out of the window then.

rowingboat · 05/11/2009 14:34

No it isn't Mabh, you are allowed a biscuit, you did mean one biscuit didn't you, not one packet?

earoma · 05/11/2009 20:32

hi all haven't posted since last AF which totally devastated me was sure this was going to be the one but we've agreed to try one last time so now on my final 2ww. i have a feeling that this is going to be the longest two weeks ever, feel so bad for OH as this could be his last chance to be a biological dad but he agrees that its taking too much of a toll on me. any one else on the dreaded 2ww

Frosticle · 05/11/2009 22:06

Hey hippychick thank you for mentioning reflexology!

I had reflexology before my DD was born and have now dug out the reflexologists details and booked myself in to rebalance things after having an IUS removed in September. I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be a chance for a snooze if nothing else!

earoma, I'm in a similar position as I am my DP's last chance to be a biological father and I want it so much for him because I know how much joy my DD (by a previous partner) has brought to me. You just want them to experience that too, don't you?

DP says he'll try until March but not beyond because he doesn't want to be over 50 by the time the baby is born. Initially he didn't want a baby but now he really wants it to work. Frustratingly, he has been either ill or abroad on business (trip scheduled months ago) whilst I was ovulating in September and October! I have been doing what I can to make myself fit/healthy (god, I miss those capuccinos and chocolate!!), as quickly as possible and getting any potential problems checked-out. (I've discovered I have low body temperature - underactive thyroid? - and short luteal phase, although the latter is improving and may just be my body adjusting after IUS). We BD frequently and after that, I'll leave it to fate.

Keep positive. Fingers crossed for you!

Thought you might all like to know that a friend of a friend is 47 and expecting her first baby in January - conceived completely naturally.

KiwiKat · 05/11/2009 22:13

Rowing, it seems like you've been sick for such a long time. I really hope you start feeling better soon.

Picked up your batteries, Mabh? Will be interesting to hear if it works like it should.

Sorry to hear that AF has hit you so hard, Earoma. It can really knock you, can't it.

DH and I are friends again, but he's back drinking, albeit not so much. Still makes me cross though. We're trying this one last cycle of clomid before we go into IVF and I really really hope it works. Riding the bloody rollercoaster can be so exhausting, as I'm sure many of you will agree.

But you lovely lot always manage to cheer me up.

Am loving the biscuit emoticon - !

ghenghismaam · 05/11/2009 22:48

Earoma I am with you - have no idea how long my 2WW will be tho in light of my late OV and early AF last month...symptom spotting like mad tho .
DS has got a 'hurty leg' today, limping like an old man, GP said watch & wait, if gets worse may have to go for MRI and if he has infected hip will have to go in for IV antibiotics poor little man...he's quite happy it's me who is worried. Have resurrected the buggy to cart him around in!!
rowing that lurgy has got you good and proper, take it easy. I've devloped a mouth full of ulcers - DH suggested scurvy!
Off to eat a bucket of oranges..........xx

gumblossom · 05/11/2009 23:19

OOhh...I love the little biscuit . Mine will have to be gluten free low fat (boring!) as I am on a diet. I figure I should make the most of this anovulatory phase and lose 10 kgs, then at least if I do get lucky (preggers) I'll have less to drag around. And it gives me something else to focus on.

I have been reading about maca - supposed to be great for fertility - is anyone taking it? I'm not sure if I will - have so many things I take already.

Ghenghis - sorry to hear your LO is hurting.Hope you can sort it out really soon.I get ulcers too - I think it's usually when I'm feeling run down, or I've had too much sugar.Hope they feel better soon, they are no fun.

Rowing - are you feeling any better? It has been a while. I'm sending healing vibes...

Mabh, I had a monitor last time ttc, and because I'm a control freak, I loved it! I also love to pee on a stick, so all round it gave me something to smile about .
It also gave me a good idea about fertile days before the opk was +. Pity I sold it!But I'll try to manage without it.

Well, thunderstorming here, so will have to unplug the computer.

mabh · 06/11/2009 09:34

Hi guys - got the batteries for the fertility monitor yesterday and booted it up this morning.

I guess I got it because I am so concerned about the passage of time. I know this is only our fourth month, but as we all know every month counts at our age. We don't have any other children so this is our only chance. I have told myself that I could have this monitor if I stopped taking HPTs before AF, thinking that that would pay for it! I did try the OPKs but nothing was happening despite me getting major mittel-wotsits pains (or at least I assume they are. Right time and all that), although it did turn out mine were out of date! Nonetheless I just lost faith in them.

Frosticle might be worth having test for thyroid function. Annoyingly, some people (including me) just have a sluggish thyroid that isn't quite bad enough for medication. I've been tested three times, and always come up with a low level so they send me for a second test (for Grave disease I think which is the usual cause of thyroid conking out) which always comes up negative. There are books on how you can raise your thyroid function naturally, but I don't honestly know whether they work or not.

rowingboat · 06/11/2009 13:59

Hi everyone,
thank you for your well wishes. This is a bit of an epic cold/sinus thing for me, but I do think the first cold I had was a very weird tropical virus because my DP was in bed for a week with it, so not a regular cold.
I'm really turning on the herbal remedies now and am off to find some anise and mullein and stuff like that to sort it out.

Frosticle and Mabh, I remember Agnus Castus being linked to thyroid function. I think it works on the pituitary gland and balances hormones in favour of progesterone and presumably also lowering oestrogen levels. As far as I recall high oestrogen interferes with thyroid level.

Right off to find some herbs...

hippychick66 · 06/11/2009 18:51

Hi frosticle - glad i reminded you to try reflexology - I had a fab time the other night but nearly fell asleep so many times and I really didn't want to miss a minute.

It sounds like you're similar to me - recently had coil removed and now waiting for cycle to sort itself out. Cycles are about 24 days long at mo but my reflexologist is hopfully gonna help with that.

Enjoy your session with your reflexologist. I'm also taking vit B complex and using progesterone gel on days 18-21 by the way.

Kiwi - I feel for you. It's horrid when they annoy you and you think "not only do I really dislike my hubbie right now but I'm also possiby gonna miss a chance to ttc!!!"

Pls try not to stress too much - easily said I now. thought i'd just do the one biscuit - do't want to be missed out of the biscuit gang.

rowingboat · 06/11/2009 21:56

Hi all,
good evening. What are you guys up to??

Gum I take maca, it is supposed to regulate hormones etc.. mind you, as far as I know the peruvians who eat it consume tons as part of their staple diet, so not sure what a few capsules is going to do for me. Like eating a few capsules of potato.
Ooo AF is stopping, almost grinding to a halt, two days after starting agnus castus, not sure if that is a coincidence?

KiwiKat · 06/11/2009 23:30

Evening all, what plans have you got for watching fireworks this weekend? We're having people around for chilli and mulled wine before heading up to the park for a fireworks display, meaning that I'll have to - gasp - tape X Factor!

ghenghismaam · 07/11/2009 12:08

Mornin all, if everyone lived near me you could all help get rid of my glut of cupcakes - friend and I did our first Xmas Fayre last night and over baked somewhat!! Am sitting surrounded by boxes of cakes........
Good distraction from 2WW symptom obsessing anyway.
Still have poorly DS who has to completely rest his legs!!
Enjoy fireworks all

rowingboat · 07/11/2009 21:46

Hi everyone,

Kiwi not plans! DS refused to watch fireworks - too noisy. DP ignored this and bought some pitiful fireworks from Lidl or somewhere, so we had a few little pops and bangs and that was it! Cheap fireworks are so ridiculous.

Ghengis your poor DS! What has he been doing to pass the time. Can you post me cupcakes, I could do with a cupcake tonight. Yum!

I'm at work tomorrow, but phoned NHS 24 tonight to moan about my sinuses. Very nice doctor said I could go over to the hospital to get antibiotics because he thinks I have sinusitus and it has been over a week. I didn't go, but it really cheered me up, I could have anti-biotics. Just the thought, makes me feel better.
So if I don't see a real improvement between now and Monday morning, I'm off to the GP to demand action. Enough already!!! Just wanted to see a biscuit, hungry!

Will be recording XFactor too Kiwi, so we can discuss it tomorrow.

KiwiKat · 08/11/2009 00:22

Am not a Jamie fan, but thought he was superb tonight - ditto for Lucie. Liked Ollie, like Danyl but thought he didn't do justice to the song, and Stacey had no sauciness. Your thoughts on the back of a postcard, please ...

spiralqueen · 08/11/2009 22:55

Hi all

Rowing for you over the sinus probs although the antibiotics should finally shift it for you. Mine sinuses seem to be blocking up again. Sneezed 3 times first thing on Saturday morning and each time hanky full of blood. Head over bowl of steaming water time again...

Into week 2 of the jolly old 2WW. Need it to turn up next weekend so that I can confirm my hycosy appointment. Only downside is that we will be away over the weekend manically looking at possible houses to buy so fingers crossed that AF is travelling light herself.

Is it me or do there seem to have been more reports lately of women in the 45-47 age group getting pg au naturelle? Perhaps it's just wishing thinking

gumblossom · 08/11/2009 23:13

And there I was thinking I won't have an icicles chance in h... by the time my ds decides to wean himself! But hearing about these 45,46 and 47 year olds getting pregnant does give me hope.
Actually I did once go through all the pregnancy charts on FF and found many who were over 40, and some conceived in less than 6 months. It was heartening.
I will be 43 tomorrow, and because my LO is so attached to the boob, I think I probably won't get my fertility back til he's about two (but who knows what lies ahead), which means probably not being preg again til I am 44 at the earliest. I thought about this last night and really started to think I must be silly to persue this.
But everyday I wake up, ready to go again!Everything looks brighter in the morning.I just keep hoping we'll catcvh the firsdt egg, without even trying and won't even notice til I get the surprise bfp...sweet dreams are made of these...
